Anybody know what he's up to at Google these days? I heard he would be contributing to Google Plus, but that's all.
Anybody got the scoop?
>>56245555
No one really knows. Google Plus hasn't really gone through any changes that I would consider would be drastic. It's the same as it is.
I also have no clue what value moot would be able to add to the social media experience that Google would consider hiring him.
Maybe they want to create a website which is "anonymous" in name only while adding a ton of tracking and such which moot definitely has experience in. Otherwise, it escapes me what he is doing day to day there or what projects he would do.
Kinda sad, really, when you think that in the end, moot is willing to sell out on the principles of what has practically been his life's work by working with Google.

If that is the case, at least he doesn't have to pretend to be something that he isn't by running this site, even though he created it.

Guys, I need help and you're the brightest people I know.
How the hell do I switch careers from web development to gaming development? Bear in mind I'm not some hipster with fake glasses: I have a formal CS degree, did well with algorithms and can remember a semblance of C++.
I'm willing to get back on track by learning C++, (re)learning linear algebra and whatever, and basically try to become a competent person in that field, but I'm afraid that after ~3 years of .NET web codemonkery nobody will take my CV seriously.
I don't even care if I'll have to start from "Junior" again, I just want to know how to make people give me a chance and take me seriously.
Please help me ;_;

Most people on /g/ are posers that don't know shit
Learn gamedev, start making games :). Put some C++ and c# programing stuff on your github and apply for thee jobs.

Why do you hate yourself so much?
Nvidia is claimed to be stealing GPL code.
https://www.techpow<>erup.com/225287/
On mobile, some other anon please screenshot the article and paste here.
Any one remember an anon's story a few days ago that his GPL code has been stolen by a company?

10 rupees have been deposited in your designated account.
Everyone loves open source, until it's their code that is open sourced.
Nvidia is shady as fuck though.
So many people on /g/ asking for tech/repair/buying advice.......
When I go to buying something I read many reviews/articles/forums etc before I purchase something.
I don't end up buying garbage.
It's is not difficult to do.......
Please avoid using the term “google” as a verb, meaning to search for something on the internet. “Google” is just the name of one particular search engine among others. We suggest to use the term “search the web” or (in some contexts) just “search”. Try to use a search engine that respects your privacy; DuckDuckGo claims not to track its users, although we cannot confirm.

Asking "Hey guys, what's your opinion on x?" is frowned upon.
Wireless is frowned upon.
Headset requests are frowned upon.
Noise isolation ≠ Noise cancellation
If you dislike a suggestion, try giving a better suggestion to whomever asked instead of going "hurr, x sucks"

shit thread, report and move on
Let me repeat myself:
I'm looking for wireless in-ear headphones that I can use longer than 8 hours. More like 12+... I don't want to fucking recharge my headphones during the day.
I work in a lab (boring work) for about 8 hours and would like it not to be straight out empty when I come home.
I'm getting fake virus warning popups and a toolbar downloaded when I went to 4chan.org from my phone. Is it just me and my phone?
>>56245030
Mine does as this as well.
>>56245037
Does it happen with any other websites for you? It's only 4chan for me so I don't think my phone has unassociated malware.
Don't bother using a phone...4Chan is unusable.
Use clover.

Why isn't Lisp more popular?
Install Gentoo
>>56244856
It's a jewish language.
>>56244856
Lisp and Scheme are pretty awesome, no doubt. CL seems to have the same use cases as Python, and similar performance characteristics too, so I guess they are direct competitors. I don't know enough CL to say that it's more versatile, but that wouldn't surprise me at all.
That said, Python has cleaner, more C-like syntax, fewer competing dialects, more recent documentation, more stack overflow questions among other things.
I'd really like to see a list of reasons why it would be better to use CL (or one of its many implementations) over Python.
Where are my ARM desktop processors?
I'm tired of the electrical Jew.
>>56244854
x86 at the moment kind of has a hold on the market,
I don't think this will last long as x86 is basically only done by 2 companies(AMD+Intel) + 1 minor one
if you look at the rapid pace in the mobile phone space I do believe that in 2025 an ARM, or better yet - a Risc V revolution for desktop computing will take place
by then getting a fab to make your custom 14nm chip will be very cheap
>>56244854
There's really no reason to get down into the low-single-digit TDP areas on a desktop. There are Atom and J1900 ITX boards if you want, those are only a couple watts more. But really it's no big deal to have a 25W CPU in a stationary computer that always has mains power. If you can afford to own it you can afford the electricity to run it.

Is freesync any good with nVidia GPUs? Memes aside.
>>56244838
Yes
>>56244838
if by "any good" you mean "doesn't work" then yeah, sure.
The monitors themselves can be decent enough paired with any GPU, but if you want the freesync feature itself, you pretty much have to use AMD since noone else has bothered implementing support for variable refresh rates in those monitors.
That I know of.
I bought the cheapest 1080p 24" monitor with DisplayPort. It had FreeSync, not having it was more expensive. I have an NVidia GPU. It works fine as monitor, but you can't use the FreeSync part.
