Steal This Show S02E01: Zeronet

Today we bring you the next episode of the Steal This Show podcast, discussing the latest file-sharing and copyright trends and news. In this episode we interview Tamas Kocsis, founder and developer of the potentially revolutionary P2P platform Zeronet.

steal240In this first episode of our new season, we interview Tamas Kocsis, the founder and developer Zeronet.

Zeronet is a relatively new project that gives us the ability to develop completely distributed websites, invulnerable to censorship of any kind.

With Tor anonymity baked in, at least on the Windows version, that creates a very powerful environment for free expression.

Today Zeronet founder Tamas talks us through the history of the platform and some of the features he’s working on at the moment.

In addition he discusses plans to add a BitTorrent plugin that may be able to provide distributed, anonymous video streaming – which sounds like a new headache for Hollywood just around the corner.

But, Zeronet isn’t just a about torrents: we also hear from Tamas how it can be used right now to set up anonymous messaging, forums, marketplaces, and more.

Problem is, it's dark web. It'll never get popular and that's both good and bad

Its slowly picking up steam with all the good torrent sites being shut down, a unbreakable hosting sounds good.
>>
>>56281201
That's a good thing.

Has some one cloned KAT yet? There are hundreds of KAT clones in surfaceweb. They should have learned a lesson.

However, enabling normies into Zeronet will also mean there will be watching eyes there. If it becomes mainsteream you gotta be careful what your peer/host

Will zen offer the same value as vishera?

Is it going to be Ivy bridge ipc with ddr4?

How about APUs? How much faster will they be with ddr4? Why can't I find any proper dx12 or vulkan benchmarks for APUs?

What do we even know about zen so far?

If it has good overclocking and overclocking provides more than just marginal returns then my expectations are that they will be bringing Intel prices down or forcing Intel to actually provide performant updates rather than just tick-tocking.

If Zen is good and didn't get bogged down single threaded in games it'll probably be offered in midrange/budget gaming PCs.

But will it offer better value, or will i3 still hold that crown? What do we even know so far?
>>
>>56281023
>Will zen offer the same value as vishera?
Su has stated that their upcoming Summit Ridge will have a higher ASP than prior FX parts. The FX 8350 had a launch MSRP of $195.
At the very least it'll cost more than that, likely a lot more.

>Is it going to be Ivy bridge ipc with ddr4?
Its going to be Excavator with 40% higher IPC, and DDR4.

>How about APUs? How much faster will they be with ddr4?
There is no word yet on how Raven Ridge's memory configuration will address the IGP's need of bandwidth. Socket AM4 only supports dual channel memory, and two channels of 4000mhz DDR4 only provide 64GB/s. Not enough by a long shot.
They haven't commented on the use of HBM anywhere in their material as of yet, so that seems very unlikely.

That aside, they'll still be a huge improvement over current chips on the CPU front. IGP should still show subtantial gains, but will remain memory bottlenecked without HBM.

>Why can't I find any proper dx12 or vulkan benchmarks for APUs?
Probably because no one cares.

>What do we even know about zen so far?
Everything aside from its multicore scaling and SMT throughput

In Norway 980 Ti are now about 100USD. cheaper than the 1070.

Considering I already have a 980 Ti is it retarded to go SLI with them?

Basically 980 Tis are going for 500USD while the 1070s are going for 600USD.

The 1080 is 700.

I did that with gtx 670 last year, other than a vram bottleneck, performance has been insane. Can't imagine 2 980 tis though, shit would be awesome.

With the recent surge of "7.1" gaming headsets with "3D audio" among other marketing phrases, I started to wonder, if sound design is such a huge deal to everyone at the moment, why aren't we seeing any games with binaural audio?

An old example of this is the virtual barbershop.

Not the best example but gets the point across.

It's extremely immersive, almost lifelike. When the barber takes the scissors out the back of my neck was tingling. Compared to virtual 7.1 headphones or even actual 5.1 headphones, it's miles beyond. There is no competition.

Just imagine, an FPS where you can actually hear bullets flying right next to you and the sound of your squad mates shooting at your side, the sound of a grenade whistling over you head?

Or a horror game. God damn I would pay good money for an atmospheric horror game with real 3D audio. Playing Slender while you can hear his footsteps on the grass behind you? Playing Amnesia while you can hear the breath of the monster behind the curtains as you can hear you own muffled breath as you try to hide in a closet?

Why isn't this a thing? Surely it's not just because it would more expensive?
>>
A company called Sensaura had this technology in the 90's. We had fully positional 3d surround in games for 1998 until 2003 with technology based on binaural algorithms.

The first Unreal game is a good example of how good it was, far better than what we have now. The problem was it was too good, the pc sound heavy weight "Creative" offered the owners lots and lots of money bought the company and for some stupid reason shelved the technology and used the patents to stop other companies bringing anything like it market and nether included it in any of their products.

Here's the history:

>A3D sounds best on headphones (play the videos labeled “headphone version”, make sure you have your left/right ear pieces on the correct way). When listening to the speaker versions, there’s a listening sweet spot – your two speakers should be facing you and be the same distance away from you. You’re in the sweet spot when some of the sounds feel like they are right next to you instead of coming from the speakers.

>The first are two videos of an A3D video game reel. You should hear lots of sounds moving and Doppler shifting all around you. See if you recognize any of the games (hundreds of video games used A3D in the mid 90s).

2x T61 (C2D, 2GB, 80GB)
T520 (i5, 4GB, 250GB)
T530 (i5, 4GB, 250GB)
2006 MBP (CD, 1GB, 80GB)
2008 MBP (C2D, 2GB, 250GB)

Came across a 2006 Core Duo MBP I'm planning to sell. Great cosmetic condition but It's pretty low spec, 1GB RAM and 80GB HDD. I won't any trouble selling it for $100, as is. Do you think I could get $150-$200 out of it by maxing out the RAM(2GB) and installing a small 120GB SSD?

Does the lamp's plug have a ground pin? If not, it's not grounded, and you may as well be clipping it to nothing. The best commonly available ground is to back off the screw holding the faceplate of an electrical outlet to a wall just a little bit and clip to that.
