What does /g/ use to back up your files?

pen and paper
Currently on my Laptop I have BTRFS for snapshots and I'm deciding between using tar or rsync for backing up snapshots. I know backups should really be off-site, but currently I'm storing them on my PC, on a WD RED.

Just bought a used 480 for only $150. Feels good finally upgrading from my integrated graphics. How did I do /g/?
Absolutely terrible.
>>56303115
>for only $150.
Terrible. Now you cant afford to run that baby and have no money for food.
What is the most lightweight browser out there? Aka has least amount of bloat, takes least amount of RAM or processing power.

My "Start" button and "Shutdown" button aren't working anymore.
I can get into Startmenu when I press the windows Key and I can shutdown my pc via "shutdown -s -t 0" though, so I'm fine

We usually bash on some of the worse tech youtubers (technigger), but which are some of your favourite tech youtubers? Pic related is great.
danooct1 is pretty cool.

8bitguy is ok i guess. LGR is my favorite because of that ASMR worthy voice

I am subscribed to him, have been forever but I can't for the life of me remember which video it was.
Should I do it, /g/?

What do you want to do with it?
Google has gone full jew for a while now and all their search results consist solely of commercial website who probably paid to get good SEO.
It has become basically impossible to look for discussion posts because the results are completely useless.
And they changed their algorithm so google doesn't show me what i searched for but what it THINKS i searched for.
It mostly pisses me off when i'm searching for a specific error in java but it shows me unrelated java tutorials. Fuck off google.
So what are some search engines you guys use for getting results that include discussions and does not include unrelated searches.
Pic unrelated but makes a good wallpaper.

Who else fell for the fx master race? Much better value than anything from Intel.
>>56302830
>being poor
>>56302834
You act like you have to be poor to skip generations of tech because the performance increase isn't enough to warrant an upgrade, I have an FX8350 and with my noctua I can get a stable 4.7ghz with a small voltage bump, but the increase doesn't do much for me, that being said, in well threaded programs, I get the performance of an i7, and in poorer threaded programs its still around i3 - i5, and cost as much as an i5. With Dx12 I don't really HAVE to upgrade, because my games run fine, but once Zen comes out I might look to get an i7 at a cheaper price since Zen leaks show it having IPC of current intel CPUs. Or I might just jump on the Zen train once I see some benchmarks post release because I'm saving up to upgrade.
>>56302885
Yes, yes, we get it. You're poor.
Hey /g/, did you ever get an arduino?
What did you do with it? You didn't leave it there doing nothing, did you?
Surely you must have done something useful
>>56302695
I honestly want to get one, but I have no idea what I should buy to accompany it and know next to nothing about electronics.
Even if both of these were overcome - what on earth would I use it for?
>>56302695
The thing about hardware is you gotta buy a whole lot of shit to make something nice.
Anyways since i had electronics as my major i did some hardware stuff but stopped doing that since i left college.
I had planned on making a home automation curcuit which would allow me to turn on/off lights and other stuff in my home without me having to move my fatass from the fucking chair
bought a nano and a breadboard, but besides some leds i got nothing to it, so it sits in the drawer.
Could i use old mobile phone parts to do some5hing like in OP's pic?
To whoever fucking faggot who wrote this yesterday
>Download developer ROM, download miflash and drivers. Install miflash and drivers in windows, flash the fucking ROM with fucking miflash. Now you can unlock the BL with their utility. Now you can use every os you want to fastboot into twrp, wipe everything and flash xiaomi.EU zip + twrp.
>You are a fucking dumb, it's written in every xiaomi forum on every site in the world, but you are the classic retard who can't read and keep asking dumb questions.
Fucking retard you still need to get approved by Xiaomi to unlock your bootloader, a dev rom doesn't magically unlock the bootloader on Redmi Note 3 MTK
>>56302651
Ya, fucking unlock the phone, THEN just flash TWRP. Then install whatever fucking ROM you want.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experienceâ„¢
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

>tfw gaymez refuse to use dedicated GPU
anyone ever had this problem?
Calling forth /g/entoomen who use linux as their main OS and own either an RX 400 series or an GTX 1000 series GPU.
I'm thinking about buying an new GPU, but I'm worried about how well it works on linux.
Particularly, I want to know if those models who turn off the fans at idle still do so when using linux with either the free or the non-free drivers, and how is power usage.
Also how usable it is with the both the free and non-free drivers for desktop and video watching (from h264 1080p to h265 4k at 60fps).
I understand that the GTX1000 series still have no open-source support whatsoever for linux? I'd consider using the closed source driver, but that means the second they decide to stop supporting my particular model I cannot change kernels or the Xorg version, so that is a no-go.
I don't really mind the poor 3D performance of AMD on linux, I always boot to windows if I'm going to play games anyway. As long as I can run basic 2D games, normal desktop usage and video watching, I'm satisfied. But having proper power and fan control is a big bonus.
If the power management on the open source AMD driver is poor to non-existent then I might consider getting the NVIDIA and just hope they come out with an usable open-source driver before dropping support for my GPU.
TL;DR: If you have an RX400 or GTX1000 and use linux, how well do the free driver work for desktop usage, video watching and power management?
same boat, want to get AMD because open sores and duopoly>monopoly
pls reply
Come on, you faggots spend your time either shilling for AMD/NVDIA or installing Gentoo, there is no one better qualified to help me out here.

Yes, completely

I want to try a traditional, minimal UNIX system
>Any other OS you want to try?
Gentoo, I want to check the portage system, but I ain't got time to loose with compilations
Arch, because I want to try a minimal, simple GNU/Linux system but I don't because I don't want an update to break my system
