memepad x220
hp elitebook with nvidia or amd gpu if you want light gaming
>>56308148
i dont care about games, but i would like a laptop that could run loonix.
>>56308181
get a t430, or a t420
i wait until you see a good deal on a t430 with an SSD and 8gb of ram though, the difference between intel hd 3000 and hd 4000 was a big jump, and the t430 will run much smoother than a t420 will
i would get the t430 over the x230 because if you are actually poor and this is going to become your main machine, you'll want something with sufficient screen space for it to not be fucking annoying all the time.
14 inches is a pretty nice size for a laptop.
also with t430 you can have a disc drive, or you can swap that out with an ultrabay adapter to put in a 2nd HDD or SSD to have internal expanded storage.
Will Windows EVER face actual competition? They've been the monopoly for over 20 years. Is it impossible for anyone to ever compete (disregarding OSX)?
They're dying and will be dead in five to ten years. Your children will be asking you "what's a Microsoft"?
But the competition exists and is light-years ahead. Only it doesn't matter, because once a monopoly, always a monopoly.

Which distro is best for a single core netbook
>>56307870
Any of them would work, it's more your choice in WM/DE that'd affect it. I'd go for Debian.
>>56307870
Jesus, are you running a netbook made in 2006 or something?
>>56307987
Atom N270 was a very popular CPU in netbooks and it's single core. Mine's got one too.

Why wouldn't you cast the return value of maloc? Surely a void* doesn't silently convert to a type* in C right?
I'm a C++ baby so I use new.

Which one do you recommend?
Should be cheap & secure with whois protection.
>>56307653
I use namecheap.com.
Whether it's safe and cheap I don't know, but it looked hell of a lot more attractive than godaddy and some other ones I checked out.
>>56307653
namecheap, don't even consider other registrars
>>56308534
>>56308517
namecheap here too
although technically they are just a reseller and not a true registrar

So, I posted awhile back saying that arch can't connect to my uni's wifi because of enterprise shit. No help was recieved for this, so I went to the IT dept, and they said they can't give me the certs or whatever so I can set up a wpa2-enterprise connection "because of security reasons". A bunch of people online said wicd should help, so I installed it, it didn't help, and uninstalled it, now networkmanager doesn't work either. Wifi-menu just flat out says it refuses to connect. Ubuntu and Kali work, though. Am I screwed? Can I fix networkmanager and enterprise connections on arch, is there a better distro, or should I just use noobuntu?
>>56307618
Oh you suggest installing a virutalbox and then installing another OS on it just to run something?

Hang on, this is placebo right? Pic likely unrelated.
Probably. Do double blind tests if you care.

Are 1080p Ultra-wide / curved monitors a meme?
I was looking into the LG 34UM67-P
>34"
>1080p
>Ultrawide
>Not curved
>Sale for only $369
but the only major complaints I saw were from people who use 1440p and 4k resolution monitors.
I use two 23" monitors currently and while they aren't broken i'd probably sell them for one widescreen since i'm getting tired of my center mass being on the split line from the bezel of the two monitors meeting.
I'd like to spend no more than $400 on 32/34" ultrawide either curved or not. Is there anything that can compete with this LG in this price range?
Dell has a 2k 34" ultrawide curved "Ultrasharp" but it's almost $750 which would buy two of these 34 LG monitors.
I really hope people start demanding square inch measurement of monitors instead of diagonals so this ultrawide shit can die

Does your phanteks case have the RGB power LED's, too? My Phanteks case does, but, whenever I connect the strip (which is connected to my motherboard) to the power LED's on the case, they display everything fine except the red channel. But if I plug in the power LED's on their own, they'll do red fine. Not sure what's up with that.
