Hey guys,
Could somebody please recommend me a good laptop for around $1500 AUD? It's for my father, he is a good guy
he diddled your winkle didn't he op?
Are you really sure he's a good guy? Can you really say you know everything about your father? I don't want to take any chances.

>he is a good guy
for you
Is it true that the police (or security agencies) can still get access to your internet browsing history when you use Tor? That's what I was told yesterday by someone who works in that field, but it's also possible he may have been trying to intimidate me.
1. There's lots of shit that can circumvent TOR and give up you real IP/location
2. NSA/US Army operate a lot of TOR exit nodes and do some Voodoo shit to still find you.
There are a lot more issues that these. There are also many ways to tip the odds in your favor again.
Nevertheless, TOR on it's own isn't very useful for anonymity, aside from normies buying drugs.
>>56370157
>TOR exit nodes
You can use Tor without exit nodes.
turning off scripts and operating through an additional VPN layer gives you a reasonable level of anonymity. that's reasonable, as in far from impenetrable.
Is this overkill for 1440p 144hz? My HB bridge will be shipped by wednesday.
Yes.
More money than sense.

Honestly, no.

Looks like development has stalled indefinitely, /g/.
Are we going to move to mpv now?
No it is just you being a retard.

>>56370061
that looks stalled, too
>please tell me what to do, think for me, tell me what to like, everything i do has to be g approve
>i don't show common sense regarding software development and i am too stupid to check the version control logs to see if there's work being done on it
Kill yourself, you pathetic imbecile who can't think for himself.
Dear /g/entelmen, are Palit cards still of shitty quality? Considering a GTX1060 for casual gaming. Pic related, that card exploded on me a few years ago.
palit are for mentally retarded people
>>56369869
Using GTX 1070 Jetstream. Bought it cheap though.
Working fine, good temp and oc. for GTX 1000 series just get the cheapest. No point with huge cooler and custom PCB. Unless you want to OC or look at your card 24/7.
>>56369869
isn't the reason palit and galax are cheaper than the rest of the brands in Europe because they are manufactured there?

if one's pc doesn't boot from usb, is it due to the motherboard or the usb slots?
ask in sqt
not all mobos allow boot from USB
>>56369767
it used to boot from usb, and i need an answer fast
>>56369767
I think you can boot from any media on every motherboard if your bios supports it, or am I wrong ?
Is it a question of software or hardware ?
>>56369732
I think it's time you learned about IBM
Hmm, let's see...2x T400, X220, T420 and a T430, I guess you're a fan of the T series, OP
>>56369796
Left to right, x40, T42, R30, G40 and R52
Getting ready to build a new PC, and checking out what's available now. By far, most of the stuff is:
>mini/micro ATX mobos and cases
>cases with like 1-2 drive bays
What's going on here? Do people not compute anymore? I get that the casual user isn't going to need 40 expansion slots, but as far as individual components, I would assume this is a market for PC enthusiasts who are going to need extra expandability, no?
Then don't buy that shit, there's plenty of ATX and EATX stuff out there
Compact builds are popular because people want compact builds, not everyone wants a giant PC with 10 hard drives and a 4 way crossfire setup
Hardware is good enough now where you can have a mini Itx board with 32gb of ram, a high end i7 and a GTX 1080 inside something the size of a hat box
With space for loads of storage too
Pic related, my Silverstone sg11b micro atx case
It has 32gb of ram, a Pentium g3260, a rx460 with space for another in crossfire, along with a tr-2 600w PSU
Not to mention, the 3x 6tb WD blacks, a 750gb 2.5" HDD, and a 120gb SSD
And there's mounting points for up to 4 more 2.5" drives
I would just need a PCI to sata card
Don't bitch about something that's not a problem

how do i install my drivers for my realtek Ethernet drivers to work on my Debian install.
Any Debian bros there?
So far i have all the non free setup in my sources now do i just download my drivers put them on a USB then install them with grep?
>>56369647
Bumping
>>56369647
>how do i install my drivers for my realtek Ethernet drivers
What?
Unless you've managed to find a truly prehistoric Debian install DVD the drivers are already installed.
>So far i have all the non free setup in my sources
What?
Oh, you mean you've enabled non-free repositories in the apt configuration.
>do i just download my drivers put them on a USB then install them with grep
I may be repeating myself here, but ... What?
grep is used to search for regular expressions within text (files or stdin). I fail to see how you expect to install anything with it.
Is a sound card even worth it anymore? And I'm not asking this out of sarcasm. I'm looking to plug my computer into a home audio system for streaming music.
Please note, I am not an audiophile.
Use your inbuilt and if it sounds like shit (e.g. staticy on low bits) get a soundcard
usually though you'll get okay results from turning down your PC and turning up your home audio amplifier, as your audio system probably has a better amplifier than your inbuilt sound
>>56369588
If your motherboard has an optical out, just use that, sound component quality is irrelevant when using digital outputs since you're just sending 1s and 0s.
>>56369621
It does, thanks.
I have a 5 year old computer with windows 7. My current GTX460 is dead, I'm using my 2500k's built in gpu for now. Should I buy a 750ti or an rx460? Where I live they are both the 120$. I dont play any modern games, but I want to play mankind divided. If you have any other suggestions please give them.
>>56369565
1060 or 1070
>>56369590
Cant afford either. My budget is 150$ max.
Zotac 750ti for low power consumption, Sapphire RX460 for power, Powercolor RX460 for budget
All are good options for 1080p older games and some new stuff
My Sapphire 4gb nitro 460 handles CSGO, insurgency, skyrim, etc all phoenominally well, my 750ti isn't as good but still pretty good
And that's on a Pentium G3260 mind you
when will it no longer just be AMD and intel? when will someone else step forward and begin to roll out processors within the desktop market?
will it ever happen?
>>56369513
Mobile chip makers like ARM might... If they can develop their architectures to scale well up to desktop-level, we might even see Intel and AMD overthrown in a night, considering how much processing power their chips can currently produce while pulling just a few watts.
Like that 10w passively-cooled GPU that Imagination showed off last year, which was faster than a 980Ti at raytracing.
VOODOO
No. Only Intel and AMD are legally allowed to produce x86 processors, and any other ISA would be incompatible with the vast majority of programs. Do you know why people use Windows over Linux? Because Photoshop and Call of Duty. Both of those not only require Windows (or Mac), but they also require x86.

Remember to use uTorrent instead of Transmission because Transmission will transmit (hence its name) malware into your machine and you will be completely screwed.
The Transmission devs are clearly amateurs who can't keep their users safe from their own software so please boycott Transmission and any other "community-managed" torrent client because they are all clearly don't know what they are doing.
uTorrent has never had this problem, so everybody who is still using this toxic Transmission client please delete it and switch to the best torrent client in the world: uTorrent.
