How much gpu sag is too much?
Did I fix?
>>56372130
anything under 45° is fine.
There are cases with support for huge cards.

Dang, just got a pic from a thread that wasn't even about sag, just a build and damn, look at dat sag.
Home server thread?
I'm looking into SFF or mini-pc servers. This i7-960 is a power hog just to run headless linux VM's in esxi.

Why is /g/ against this 10/10 distro?
>>56372006
I non ironically like Mint.
I do use other distros on my main OS but mint and xubuntu are the distros I always recommend for people that wants something that just werks.
>>56372006
Couldn't get GRUB to work on it. Ubuntu just worked though. Wanted to dual boot Windows 10.

If it is about a Windows-lookalike why not Zorin OS? I haven't tried it, but it seems to be exactly that.
Now that Linux is mainstream, I figured I'd move on to BSD. However BSD is gaining too much momentum already so I need to skip it straight away. What's next?

TempleOS
Plan 9 from Bell Labs
ToaruOS
there's an MLP-themed "remix" of Toaru - PonyOS - for additional autismo
How good is a SSD compared to something like a WD Blue drive?
Really taught about getting an SSD a few days ago but I passed, very interested.
About 3.50, repeating of course.
>>56371682
5 times faster at least, will live much longer than any HDD.
significant quality of life improvement.
I honestly cannot believe that in 2016 there are people who didn't move to ssd yet.

My point.

It actually looked better in the gif, lol
The point was to show how shit resizing windows is but in gif form it looks fine
I'm getting both the gtx 1060 6gb and the RX 480 8gb for the same price. Which should I get?
Based on all the reviews I have seen the 1060 beats the 480 but people are saying that the 480 is much more future proof
Both are cards with custom dual fan coolers.

>I'm getting both the gtx 1060 6gb and the RX 480 8gb for the same price. Which should I get?
I thought you were buying both?
>>56371345
RX 480
/thread
performance is about the same (depending on what games and settings you cherrypick for benchmarking the results can skew either way. The texture fill rate on the 480 is 130% but the pixel fill rate is 50% compared to 1060)
the raw computing power of the 480 but it matters mostly for technical stuff like numerical simulations, altcoin mining or password hashing
Which Apple products are you currently using and what do you think of them?
>2015 rMBP 13"
I don't play games or code so it's easily the best laptop I've ever owned
>iPhone 6s+
almost perfect 9.6/10 phone
>Apple TV 4
completely shits on every roku and chromecast and firestick I've ever owned
>iPad Pro 12.9"
zero complaints. love it
>Apple pencil
it might charge in a gay way but it's amazing at what it does
>Magic Mouse 2
again, charges like a retard, but best mouse I've ever owned

...that's it?
For the next few weeks i can't watch videos, and i just can't get into read a book (K&R) and learning that way. Mostly because it's big and undertaking and doesn't suit my way of learning, i just can't into books that's not for me. What drives me is having something to do like a project, thinking about how to do it and then searching how i can do it. (with the internet and books)
What should i do to learn more about C ?
I'm searching for nice tutorial, or even just exercises or problems that'll help me better understand the language.
I already know about euler's site, and i made a nice fizzbuzz last month (and a couple of terminal programs like a text adventure game and some basic converter hex to char to binary, etc)
I'm asking here because all i can find now is almost exclusively for total beginners, which i'm not anymore. I mean, not a total beginner anyway. I know my share of python and i've been doing this C shift for a couple of months.
If you could point the past you in a direction to learn C, where will you point at?
>>56371116
You won't be able to grasp the C Programming language from doing projects alone. Many people think that hands-on learning is the best way of learning how to program, and for the most part it is.
However, whenever it comes to something like C or C++, it's best to read a book and implement the strategies you learn by incorporating them in projects that you think up.
If you really want to just dive in, then think of something C is used for and try to make it yourself. Create an interpreter or an emulator.
You'd be doing yourself a disservice by not reading the book you posted OP. You're going to have to sit down and read a book at some point if you want to make a career out of this.
>>56371116
here you go
>>56371116
>where will you point at?
You could learn a graphical library like SDL and start doing 2D stuff. Eventually you can start openGL if you prefer 3D stuff. You can have fun calculating and coding various graphical algorithm, like circle drawing, filling a surface with a colour, rotation, translation of pictures...
Or you could simply create some shitty 2D games or 3D stuff
You can also install linux and start doing low level stuff, check http://tldp.org/guides.html you might find interesting stuff.
Why do they call it the GTX1080?
Because when you see it, you turn 1080 degrees and walk away
>>56371069
>>56371100
But after three 360's you're so dizzy that you'll go in a different direction.
does a light (<1.5kg), slim 14" laptop with a quality panel (1080p minimum) exist for under $500?
I'm obviously talking used/refurbished but it seems every decent laptop have god aweful panels at 1366x768

Fuck I used to love that game when I was like 5.
I remember outrunning the monster and never being able to replicate it and thinking it was a myth until years later when I learned you could speed up the game by pressing F.
