I was wondering why I spent time ricing my desktop, rarely anyone other than me sees it. It's not like a car that you can use to pickup qt's.

Hey fämälämäzoids,,
Can this machine run 1080p rips, up to 15 gb for two hour movies?
https://www.expert.fi/tietotekniikka/poytakoneet/asus-vivo-mini-un42-m092y-poytakone/p-248752/
It was 199€, running movies is all it has to do.

Cool, just had a look at cpupassmark scores. Its better than the thinkpad im currently using for the same purpose and it works fine
I shall consider this machine

I'm about to head out with him and buy a new router. How much easier is it these days to set up a new router? Haven't done this in a very long time. I just connect my computer (which is a laptop) via Ethernet, plug the router into the modem, register the router's MAC address via my ISP's website, and I'm good to go?

>register router's MAC address

>>56437071
I'm pretty sure mine just worked out of the box basically, then you just setup the config and security. It's not like it used to be OP, everything nowadays is on easy mode.

get off of /g/
I know you guys aren't a personal tech support forum or anything, but I tried posting this in /wsr/ a few days ago and nobody had any idea what it was -- so I was hoping I could at least open the floor for discussion on it here.
Basically I'm trying to take input from the user and save it into a .txt file. Each item must be separated by a comma. The problem is that, since I'm allowing the user to input whatever they want, I can't rely on the old "just wrap your commas in quotes" alternative.
These two things alone basically invalidate most of everything I found online on how to address this unique issue. So I wound up doing some more digging and read about OpenCSV. The thing is that I'm not actually seeing any examples or instances of whether or not it actually even solves my problem, or if it's just going to lead to a different set of problems that I cannot solve.
Prior to this I've been writing files with FileWriter and BufferedWriter. I look on OpenCSV's website / Stack / tutorials like and I see solutions like this :FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("awesomefile.csv");.
OutputStreamWriter osw = new OutputStreamWriter(fos, "UTF-8");
CSVWriter writer = new CSVWriter(osw);
...
String[] row = {
"123",
"John",
"Smith",
"39",
"I said \"Hey, I am 5'10\".\""
};
writer.writeNext(row);
...
writer.close();
osw.close();
os.close();
Once again, this doesn't answer my question because this is an example of the programmer just writing his/her (probably his) own input.
tl/dr - I can't figure out how to make it so a user can write commas and/or quotes and/or double quotes in their input. I think I'm supposed to use OpenCSV, but I've never used it before and I was hoping to be able to finish this today so I can show it to my boss tomorrow.
Hoping someone can give me a hand. :/

Save that stupid shit for /b/. If you don't know the answer, just say so. At least OP isn't begging us to spoonfeed him information.
Yes OP, OpenCSV will resolve this problem, but I have no idea how or why it works.
Is there any kind of lossless codec for .webm's, .jpg's and .gif's? I'm starting to see all of my files drop in quality and gradually rot

Guys I need your help.
I got a huge disccount on two Samsung tablets models in my research work as assistant. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 with S-Pen or Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0. I will use them exclusive for reading scientific papers (PDF) and textbooks
Tab A 9.7
>Bigger screen for reading (but 766p TFT panel)
>S-Pen for annotations and taking notes on the go
Tab S2 8.0
>Android N update
>Awesome AMOLED Screen
>Small size I will need to zoom in and out. I've sold my old LG G Pad 8.3 because of this and shitty 16:10 aspect ratio
Get an iPad air (1st generation) with an additional stylus
These samsung tablets are pure trash
>>56436624
>Exclusively for reading
If they are I consider using a plain e reader, if not, go with the best AMOLED and try using dark mode.
>>56436734
Just the AMOLED one, it's better throughout

came up with an algorithem to go over a list of 2d points and match each point to it's closest point with great efficiency.(nearest neighbor search for 2d)
need a way to genrealize this algorithem to higher dimensions.
basically the brute force way of O(n^2) is for each point go over all other points and find the closest point.
my method is to first sort the list by the point x value (each point is represented as (x,y)).
if for some point p1 I know of some minimum distance d to some other point p2, then if the difference between some point p3 x value and
p1 x value is greater than d, then the distance between p3 and p1 must be greater than he distance between p2 and p1.
using this I would only need to go over few points until I know what the minimum distance point is, instead of the whole list.
python code for you to inspect:
https://gist.github.com/anonymous/35746facfe07f4ed9078eebd39df162b
problem is, I need a way to generalize it to higher dimensions reliably
>>56436480
>>>/homework/
>>56436480
You should check if the distance is greater than d^2:
d(p1,p2) = \sqrt{ \sum_{i = 1}^{N} (x^{1}_{i} - x^{2}_{i})^{2} }
Now let p3 =\{ x^^{3}_{j} \}_{j=1}^{N}. If
x^{1}_{k} - x^{3}_{k} > d(p1,p2)^2
then
d(p1,p3)^{2} = \sum_{i = 1}^{N} (x^{1}_{i} - x^{3}_{i})^{2} = x^{1}_{k} - x^{3}_{k} + \sum_{i = 1 , j \neq k }^{N} (x^{1}_{i} - x^{3}_{i})^{2} > d(p1,p2)^{2} + \sum_{i = 1 , j \neq k }^{N} (x^{1}_{i} - x^{3}_{i})^{2} > d(p1,p2)^{2}
Therefore, d(p1,p3) > d(p1,p2).
