Is it worth it to pay for an AV, or is there something superior and free?
I feel like the best in is just knowing someone who can get you a copy of an enterprise AV :/.

Having an AV is pointless if you're retarded, an AV won't save you from clicking 'Accept' on Malware/Crapware/Junkware.

I don't have issues with viruses or anything but it just seems stupid to not have something occasionally scanning the machine.
Also I currently share my computer with my roommate/guests sometimes, none of whom are that dumb, but people make mistakes. I already use Spybot & MWB when I think there's something wrong, but I'd like something basic doing a scan every now and then.
For first timers:

I've spent some time on Codeacademy and other programming sites over the years, but they don't hold my interest long and I don't feel like I retain much. I've always been curious about raspberry pi and arduino stuff though. Would they be good tools for learning, or do I need pre-existing skills to do anything with them?
>>56439121
Learning what? Programming? Don't you have a full computer already?
If you want to do something with the rapsberry, you need just a minimal familiarity with linux and terminal in linux.
I was interested at first, but then got bored.. for now. If it interests you just start learning with some videos, tutorial or MOOC on the net.
It's easy, no big prerequisites.
>>56439121
don't buy them because you think they will help you with programming because they wont. Think of a project you want to do then buy the tools to do that project
>>56439311
P.S.
I would start with :
- How to install raspbian on a SD card
- how to pick a static IP address on raspbian
- how to connect to the raspberry through ssh
Then you are good to learn by yourself.
