You need to be in the beta if you have a Nexus device, I got the notification as soon as I had flashed stock back.

What are you fellas working on right now? For me it's Spacewalk.
Bump. I'm configuring an openvpn server to run on my edgerouter Lite.

I see you sprung for the $10 IKEA compressed cardboard table. Ballsy.
It's started for a day now; what will you be voting on?
Remember this shit will be smeared all over 4chan so vote for whatever the fuck represents /g/

Which one's yours? There's so fucking many entries that I'm bound to miss one or two

Why are thin phones so popular when the cost for the end user is less battery life?

About 50% of the population is retarded.
About 75% are not very smart.
That also explains the popularity of bad TV shows, celebrity cult, "fashion", pop music, belief in God and Microsoft Windows
In /g/'s opinion, what is the best distro for easing someone with Linux experience into it without scaring them away?
I recently repaired an old laptop for my wife and was planning on putting something like Xubuntu or Ubuntu MATE on it for her.
I considered Linux Mint, but decided it's a joke of a distro. Fedora is a possible contender.
Must haves:
>little to no need to ever open the terminal to install updates
>good printer support
>A E S T H E T I C S
>>56451578
ubuntu,
mint,
elementary
>>56451578
>>little to no need to ever open the terminal to install updates
any distro that comes with gnome does not require this
>good printer support
There is only one CUPS
>>A E S T H E T I C S

Ubuntu or it's derivative.
Fedora is quasi-freetard distro that does not allow non-free software.
So as a normie you will struggle, don't bother.

So I traded my gaming laptop I got off Craigslist about 6 months ago for $500 (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE72-APACHE-264-17-3-Inch-Gaming/dp/B0141H0AI4)
for ALL of this
PC: NZXT phantom 240 case
Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 GPU
AMD FX8350 black edition CPU
Asus Pro gaming aura motherboard
Corsair vengence 16gb ram
Corsair CX850M PSU
Corsair H100i v2 liquid cooler
LG DVD writer
Corsair K65 RGB keyboard
Logitech 720p webcam
Corsair raptor HS40 USB heaphones
2x ASUS 24in monitors VN247H-P
500gb Sandisk SSD
3TB WD Hard drive
1TB WD Hard drive
The dude really went out of his way for me. He was just going to include the 500gig SSD but when I got there he threw in the 3TB and 1TB hard drives. He worked at Best Buy and built computers as a hobby. I have all the boxes for these parts and I think most of these parts came from Best Buy
Did I get a good deal? I don't know much about computer hardware but I wanted to get into gaming more and my laptop was more of an entry level gaming laptop..
monitors
HEY that is pretty gud niga
Ok

This isn't a meme, it's a real possibility.
You must be too new to remember that the NSA used to routinely block the publication of papers on encryption by issuing secrecy orders.
Or how the ITAR went after Zimmermann, Schneier, Bernstein, Junger and many others for trying to teach, publish books on cryptography and/or releasing cryptographic algorithms as open source.

I fell for the qBitTorrent meme. Why is everyone recommending this buggy piece of shit?
I was using an old version until recently when it went off the whitelist of a tracker I use. It would just crash randomly whenever I tried adding a torrent file. It also had a bug where it wouldn't restore from the task bar sometimes, had to click it a bunch of times.
It seems like the client restricts your download speed by itself for no reason. My download speed increases when I increase my upload speed cap.
On the latest version. A torrent randomly stops seeding. I try to re-announce to trackers, nothing. No error displayed, until I pause and it shows "Errored". I force re-check and there is no problem anymore.
A torrent randomly stops leeching. I check the status, both the seeder and I are connected and the only two peers on the torrent. I pause, I force re-check, I reannounce, I restart, nothing.
I move it to an old version of µTorrent, pause it on qBT and surprise... µTorrent not only connects right away without an issue, but the download speed is 4-5x what it was on qBT! What the fuck? I close qBT thinking what a useless piece of shit. Suddenly my computer starts slowing down, I hear the hard drive spinning. What is going on? I open the resource manager and qBT is still a fucking process in the background maxing out my hard drive read speed.
Real good piece of software, guys.
>his hard drive doesn't always spin
>>56451166
Pretty sure I saw this pasta some weeks before.
qBittorrent is 10/10.
>>56451220
It is a true story that happened this morning. Right now my torrent is downloading at home in µTorrent at a high speed instead of being stuck in qBT doing nothing or crawling at 50kbps for no reason.
It's a broken piece of shit.

That computer is mainly going to be used for internet browsing so upgrading it seems like a waste (unless I really have to), just wondering if the slowness is because some of the hardware parts are old at this point or if it's just software problems that'll be solved by a clean install and some preformance tweaks
>>56450856
Degredation of system performance is usually due to cumulative system bloat and/or fragmentation on a HDD
If your CPU temps are very high it might be thermally throttling, but otherwise hardware issues just make stuff crash or not work at all rather than just slow down.
Getting an SSD on an old machine isn't a huge waste since you could always move it to a different computer easily.
>>56450754
Is it viable to invest on a server to stream content to a shit laptop? (Assuming internet is not a problem)
