Should I install Windows 10? I've been using W7 for years, and I'll have to reinstall soon.
7 is absolutely the better choice, I mean if you are a gaymer then Dx12 support is a thing you may want it for, but if you can help it, just stick to 7.

I usually play games, but I really appreciate safety and privacy.

Why do you need to reinstall?

Government Issue/10
Looking good
My only question is, where's the Minor Threat?
Hi /g/
I'm currently learning IT in school (second year after high school graduation to give you an idea of my level).
I have a 4 months project to make with two friend and i'm kinda hesitating on a few stuff, i wanted your advice.
First of all, configure my own VPN, but i don't realize how much work it represents. According to me it's more of a few-week-project than a huge one.
Then i thought about doing a compression file software (like winzip or stuff), for text at first and maybe sound / video if i have time.
and then a bot for Discord in C++ or Lua i can converse with (well, he'll be quite dumb but it would be my first AI..)
I know a bit of python, Java and C.
So /g/ what is the most interesting project and why ? How much time will i spend doing it and which language should i use ? (i'm ok with learning a new one).
Thanks

>configure VPN
im pretty sure you can do this in one day even if you have very little experience.

Horrifying.
Create a dialect of C called BoipuC and make your own operating system called FaggotOS. Then kys for being a faggot.
Created this today: https://lost-in-translation.now.sh/
What do you think?

do you cache translations?
>>56453984
also how do you decide which order the translations are in?
>>56453984
No, it's generated on the fly (Google Translate)

Disable location tracking for google play
Greenify app and Zerolemon battery on stock S4 gets me usually 10-15% a day. Really heavy use gets me three days

Greenify works as a charm for me but truth be told my battery life increased a lot when I removed Facebook cancer apps
Rate my PC and see if yours is better, I doubt it

Why does a 1070 have a 8+6(maybe 8) connection when a 1080 is just a single 8.
Does the 1070 draw more power?
>>56454102
non-reference design m80. more power for ln2 overclockers probably.
Would anyone be so kind as to advise a mere novice on his selections here? I'm considering trying my hand at building a rig. Input would be great. Didn't think it warranted a new thread.
I opted for the 1060 over the 1070 for economy reasons.

Anyone else control the computer with a gamepad instead of a mouse?
It takes twice as long to do anything but man does it feel comfy shitposting from bed
>>56453712
Used to, then i got an old TKL with a trackpoint.
Now i just use my laptop in bed instead of my desktop.
got a Steam controller from a friend, very cumbersome, wouldn't recommend

Is pic related the one you use? I'm trying to use a ds3 right now with Ubuntu, only works with steam big picture rn and I can't get it to stay awake. On another note, does anyone know the name of the xubuntu brightness control thingy? It had a "presentation mode" to keep it awake while I watched movies or played games.
So what ended up happening to the Surface/iPad Pro meme?
iPad won
surface uses a shitty digitiser that can't draw diagonal lines, and the inaccuracy of the ipad pro makes it more like drawing with a crayon than a pencil, so not suitable for real work.
>>56453707
>iPad won
I'd love to see some sales figures to back that up.

tell me a decently priced $50-$100 headphone that won't look like shit in public places. aliexpress is fine.

Use IEMs if you're in public a lot:
Shure SE215
RHA MA750 / MA750i
Yamaha EPH-100
Xiaomi Piston 3
JVC HA-FXT90
>>56453672
I agree with >>56453987, Iems make much more sense if you are outside a lot, i mean, there are a few good on-ears and even a few small over-ears that work fine outside, but they will never be as discreet, portable or isolate as much.

Hi /g/,
I graduated as a mechanical engineer from Germany and apply for jobs at the moment.
The field I am interested in often requires experience in
-real time programming
-embedded software
As a mechanical engineer, programming and software development isn't something we tapped into very deply and I have some questions about the terminology.
I just want to make sure that I have actually done this things and don't want to embarrass myself during the interview.
I have programmed Kuka robots in the Programming language KRL (Kuka robotic language) I also written a software that with which a robot can be controlled by a gamepad and publish a paper (together with a PhD) about the pros and cons of such a device in comparison to the hand controller. For this doesn't qualify as "real time programming", but is it embedded software?
I also wrote a programm on an arduino that lest the arduino work as a USB master using a transiever. The arduino placed my data into registries and with other registries created the packages for communications. I wrote the entire USB-driver and handled the entire USB-communication (as well as creating the circuit). Does this qualify as real time programming?
Lastly, I wrote control software for assembly lines and other smaller systems that included in SPS.
Don't rage. I used programming only for the means to an end and I am not a software developer.
