Am I killing my laptop battery by using it even when near a socket at home? Should I be using it on AC all the time when I can?
Is the keep your battery between 20%-80% shit true?
>>56597470
Are you killing your batter by using it? What do you think? Yes, the other thing is true, although that DoD seems somewhat deep.
>>56597478
I guess what I mean is - when I run on AC am I bypassing the battery completely once it's charged?
Demon Semon?
>>56597461
It's a media player, not a fucking anti virus
it just werks
>>56597461
Old doesn't necessarily mean bad. It's only a problem once things start breaking.
Also I use MPC-BE which is actively developed.
should i have gotten the 1060 instead of the 480?
>>56597401
1060 3GB ~= 480
1060 6GB = 480 + ~10%
All three are perfectly valid choices, if the price is right.
>>56597419
Dafuq? 480 kills the 10shitty.
>>56597401
It depends on what you sort of performances you use it for, resolution, desired fps, etc...

I need your advice
What would be the best/fastest way to learn C++?
K&R -> Accelerated C++ -> *some deep STL course/book*?
I know few languages and basic of C, I have seen K&R, but it was hobby tier and now I am looking for a fast way to learn to level of atleast C++ junior position.
Some of you know C pretty good so I assume that you could give some nice tips for learning C++
>>56597320
uhh pointers are memory addresses and you access things on em with the -> thing and you can toss them around as arrays sometimes but in C++ there is no good reason to do this unless you absolutely have to in fact raw pointers in C++ are kinda outdated at this point if you consider smart pointers also templates are cool as shit but they aren't as necessary as people make them out to be also btw if you wanna use modern C++ use auto and to that overloading template magic stuff btw K&R is a good read but if you want practical knowledge for todays world it's kinda pointless uhhhh hmmmmmmm oh yeah don't program C++ like a C programmer like don't use printf or any of that stupid shit and use initializer lists instead of thatthis->x = x;shit i mean come on this isn't java
actually programming something would be a valuable learning experience. dont just read books, and if you do, make use of computer flash cards to memorize key points.
>>56597320
You know what faggot by the time that you've taught yourself all the CPooPoo you need to do the shit you need to do, you could have taught yourself C and be learning whatever other shit you need to do in order to get your shit done.
Graduating in the IT industry was the biggest mistake of my life.

Is this worth or just a piece of useless technology.
For me, charging you watch every day is a joke
I have an lg g watch, I really like it but they're not worth anything more than 80 bucks (I got mine for 40)
>>56597159
100% useless unless you really have a specific need
Daily charging would kill it for me. I have a Pebble Time now (and a Pebble Time 2 on preorder) and I love it.
There's a few basic things you can expect from a decent smartwatch, IMO:
>Having a watch that has accurate time, since it syncs from the phone.
>The ability to check/screen notifications and calls when the phone is in your pocket/up to 30 feet away, when using the phone would be less convenient (e.g. when hands are occupied or while waking), or when directly checking the phone might not be socially appropriate (e.g. during a business meeting). I'll often use the watch to reject an unimportant call, or to check an email to see if it's worth getting my phone out for.
>a basic fitness sensor if you don't have one (not perfectly accurate as it sometimes interprets brisk touch typing as "walking", also some have heart rate sensors that check often during vigorous exercise [not terribly accurate] and occasionally during non-activity [generally pretty accurate]
>a good alarm that WILL wake you up while it's on your wrist without making a shitload of noise or waking up other people in the bed
The one thing I love about the pebble is it charges from dead to 100% within 30min-1hr and you can get 5 -10 days of use without charging (the former if you get a lot of notifications, the latter if you get fewer; using a watchface with a seconds hand/count reduces battery life vs one that just displays the minutes). It also uses real buttons to control rather than a gimmicky small touch screen.
If you are expecting anything else from it, you are probably going to be disappointed.
>NFC payments
Not that popular in the US
>boarding passes for airlines
The TSA podiums are fucking awkward to scan as well as most airlines. Just print a paper one or use your phone, the small display on the watch also makes it harder for barcode scanners to read
>heart pulse shit on the apple watch
dumb
>"apps"
Most apps are fucking useless scaled down versions
how important is it to reaaply paste every now and then? ive had my i5 2500k for 4 years and ive never reaaplied.
if your cpu isn't overheating then you're fine
Check the temps. Are they higher than what they used to be? Then you need to reapply paste.

I'm very frustrated.
Rules read: not my personal tech support team/consumer review site. Not asking about specific product, but specific type.
All I want is a god damned laptop that has the touchpad off to the side, where the number pad normally is. Does ANYONE make one? I found some old 2012 Razer variety, but their site is crap, has no support, and the item does not SEEM to be available anymore. Saw another by MSI that also seems to have gone the way of discontinuing.
Even some direction towards a custom builder that has it as an option would be appreciated. I'm a long time desktop user, all I've ever used in the past 21 years besides trail runs on laptops/notebooks. I can't stand them because of the touchpads; because when I type my stupid fucking palms hit it in it randomly clicks stuff and cuts my typing off/sets me off talking in different applications. I know, no one else has this problem, gazillions of people use it fine. It doesn't work for me. I need the mobility of a laptop but I can't use one without disabling the touchpad and hooking up a peripheral mouse which is annoying as hell.
Help, please. :(
>>56597025
The easiest way:
Get a laptop with a trackpoint. Disable touchpad and done.
I am curious about your wrist positioning however.
>>56597025
Get a Thinkpad or HP, maybe older Dell that has a clit mouse and disable the trackpad
>>56597120
If by trackpoint you mean the little dot I sometimes see between the G and H keys, I use it sometimes but I don't like it. I want a touch pad; I just want it somewhere else.
When I type, both of my palms go over the center of the keyboard beneath the space bar, and my fingers point outward. I guess kind of like a butterfly shape. I'm comfortable typing this way and I'm not interested in inverting it the way most other people seem to type. I just want to choose where my stupid touchpad goes. :(

Reminder that LeTV phones with snapdragon work in Third World shitholes like the USA.
I've had duckduckgo as my default search engine for months because I wanted to get away from the Google Jew. This search engine is terrible and would not find results for what I wanted even if I would find what I was looking for with google, then pasted the exact title of the page into duckduckgo's search.
I've decided to just not give a shit anymore and go back to the Google Jew because I would always end up just typing in google.com since duckduckgo wouldn't find shit 70% of the time. I was still using Youtube as well anyway.
What does the rest of /g/ have to say about duckduckgo?
Use startpage.

Reminder to never trust USBs.
Wtf I hate USB now.
Funny, that's the same toshiba USB stick I have.
With the over reliance over technology, there have to be multiple methods to destroy it as well.
>Restore Windows 10, wants to make a backup on USB
>Must be 16gb usb stick
>Buy 16gb usb stick
>"lol nice try that stick is only 14.59gb even though its advertised as 16gb, you need actual 16gb"
O-ok...
>>56596831
It's do to with rounding from the conversion rates between power of 2 and power of 10 conversions e.g. mb to gb
>>56596831
To a hard disk manufacturer, one KB is 1000 bytes, one MB is 1000 KB, and one GB is 1000 MB. Essentially, if a hard disk is advertised as 500GB, it contains 500 * 1000 * 1000 * 1000 = 500,000,000,000 bytes of space. The hard disk manufacturer thus advertises the disk as a 500 GB hard disk.
However, manufacturers of RAM don’t sell it in even groups of 1000 – they use groups of 1024. When you’re buying memory, a KB is 1024 bytes, a MB is 1024 KB, and a GB is 1024 MB. To work back from the 500,000,000,000 bytes above:
500,000,000,000 / (1024*1024*1024) = 465.66 GB
-HTG
>>56597186
>>56597215
also on top of this, there's formatting so you lose even more space.
In response to OP, they want at least 16gb free space on a USB, so you need a 32gb usb. It's counter-intuitive I know

why they shopped the desktop in?
Is it okay for a company to try to force you to remove jailbreak/root from your device in order to play? Niantic essentially just banned users from playing the game (you could play the game for 2 months without any problem).
I'm not willing to work around this issues (magisk etc) just because it's a matter of principle.
What an ass move. Who else does shit like this so I can avoid them in the future? Should I install gentoo on my phone?
Fuck off itoddler
