You should try it if you want to, OP. Not going to bother trying to sell it to you since I'm not sure what you look for in a laptop/desktop and different distros work better for different people.
Used Xubuntu for 4-5 years and switched to Arch 2 months ago. I'd recommend any of the Ubuntu variants for the first go.

/g/uys I'm fucking retarded, I've been trying to get my IRC program limechat (for mac) up and running for the last hour and can't figure it out.
I've got it installed and everything but can't figure out servers or channels or how to join or anything else....
Is there something basic I'm missing? None of the tutorials are helping.

What sort of jobs do you degree-less people actually have?
I have a BSc in CS from a top tier university and at every place I've worked at I am the least qualified person around. Just about every other software developers is an engineer or otherwise MSc.
Note: not talking about code monkey jobs (where your title is "programmer" and you make apps or stupid shit) but being hired as a software engineer

After 4 yeara, I've decided I am moving from Arch to Ubuntu. What is the best version of Ubuntu, with the least amount of bloatware? I do most of the stuff in the terminal anyway.
I noticed that apt is faster than pacman, it just doesn't have the initial lag. Also, I don't have much free time to fuck around in Arch anymore.

Hello guys,
I have a problem with my PC. I woke up this morning and booted my computer and when the windows desktop appeared the whole screen had pinkish tint. After a while it started flickering and the screen went black. It happens every time now but I dont think it's a hardware issue. Everything is fine when I boot the system in safe mode. I have Radeon 5750 with latest drivers. Anyone has any idea what this problem might be caused by?

I honestly don't believe these phones are really worth all that cash. Especially living in the world's asshole, shelling out a month's worth of work for an iPhone really feels like a robbery.
There have to be other phones with high-end specs that don't charge twice just for their name.
I'm thinking Oppo, or OnePlus.
These phones are hard to find because everyone keeps talking about Samsung or Apple. Do you know of any other under-the-radar brands that sell awesome phones?

Most other smartphones aren't worth it OP.
In the case of Samsung phones, if you care enough, they usually have good ROM support, but the same could be said about OnePlus.
Whereas with the iPhone, Apple supports those phones with security updates and newer versions of iOS longer than any Android OEM.
In both cases, you can keep your phone longer than six months-2 years.
