I'm about to upgrade my Windows 10 to Windows 10, what am I in for?

Modernization.

Be careful something might happen
laptops will always be superior to desktops
- if there was a war, have fun plugging your desktop pc into a power outlet or powering it with a solar panel
- can just plug your laptop into a solar charger and keep recharging it
- you can use it away from civilization while desktop fags are getting bombed in their houses
Desktops ensure there are no wars
>>56654561
If there was a war you'd be snuck up on and murdered while fapping to hentai.
Because laptops are portable, which is their whole point, they're superior to Desktops?
Couldn't come with better arguments?
all consumer electronics coming out are shit. Apple, Samsung, HTC, that chinese brand that copies Apple, Sony, all of them, and each of their softwares are also tailored for some and not for others, and this will always be the case.
So lets stop brandfagging like slaves and be productive. /g/ has changed a lot, before when gentoo was a light joke, no it wasn't a civil and justified community but at least there weren't trolls :( I want my safe space back. Somewhere nice people can converse after a good or bad day.

Welcome to /fglt/ - Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Users of all levels are welcome to ask questions about GNU/Linux and share their experiences.
*** Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread. ***
Before asking for help, please check our list of resources[*].
Take this quiz before asking for what distro to try: https://distrochooser.de/?l=2
If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Now I see what is actually wrong with you. You think python scripts are scripts written by the users and the users could simply update their scripts, but you're wrong. Python is a widly used language and many programs are written in it, packaged and in every distros repos. Don't expect all these people to "fix" something that shouldn't be fixed since it's the default way, just because Arch wants to link python to python3. If you still don't get why linking it to python3 is a bad idea, please read >>56649210 again.
>>56654521
Someone has to do it first to force developers to adopt 3.x standards, if your so pissed about it in your .bashrc just make an alias python='python2' and be done with it
>>56654521
>>56654493 (Dead)
>Python is a widly used language and many programs are written in it, packaged and in every distros repos.
So the devs update the scripts, which are then propagated to the users?
How can you be this retarded
You're blaming a DISTRO instead of UPSTREAM inadequacies
>default way,
Explain why V2 exist then?
Till you do, you have no valid arguments, and you will be discarded by everyone
What is so good about this book /g/?
Should I read it?
It was used as the introductory textbook for computer programming for 20 years on most universities around the world. All principles it teaches are valid still. Even more so with modern computers that do not have scarcity of resources. As a bonus it teaches you Scheme and you are able to glimpse what programming nirvana is through it.
>>56654626
So I don't have to know Lisp or Scheme to read the book?
>>56654650
Nope. I would argue it is better if you don't know shit but do follow the exercises if you can with Racket. There are also the original lectures on Jewtube.
It's on sale now.
Also, what's a good laptop to make into Hackintosh?

How did you learn to program /g/?
After taking countless free courses (No bootcamps I live in a shithole) I grasp the basic concepts of abstracting and algorithms but I feel as if I haven't learned to enough of the language. Is studying just syntax an understood step that no one seems to be covering?

>How did you learn to program /g/?
programming
>>56654297
>Is studying just syntax
what do you mean
>>56654455
I mean that like how do you go about learning the actual language instead of just using it to do things.

The speed comparisons are kind of pointless. The 6S was already faster than any Android device, of course the 7 will be better.
Water resistance test was neat though.

What is a good Linux to try for a beginner? Something that can use NTFS file system as that's where my porn and reaction images are saved.

>What is a good Linux to try for a beginner?
Linux Lite
>NTFS file system
Bad idea. Ever thought of a windows that runs on ext4? I know OSX can
>>56654274
Linux will be on its own partition but I need it to access the NTFS partition. I don't want to have to reboot just to fap.
>>56654321
Linux can access NTFS no problem
Looking to give Arch a try. Can someone please recommend me a DE that is lightweight and without bloat? Coming from Windows, so something similar to that would be nice

To add to this, so far something like Cinnamon and MATE looks really good

Is this the model to buy?
I'd choose this $175USD Redmeme or a used $125 Nexus 5.
Thoughts?
