Hi /g/. I feel like I have a handle on bitcoin mining and would like to start my own processing soon. I find it so interesting to be a part of a peer system like this but I need some advice on joining a pool. Is anyone part of a big pool? Small pool? Private pool? What have been the pros and cons of each in your experience? Do you prefer one over the other or are you involved with multiple pools? Thanks and cheers guys.

Maybe the devs are lazy or maybe because of strict nazi-like packaging rules that prevent the devs creating a package/repo/ppa for your package manager...
>>
>>56658955
nazis didn't have restrictive software packaging though, they were against that

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Do we still need a physical store front?

For what?

Mail systems for apartments are outdated as fuck.

I appreciate going into a store and walking out with my product. I know that it's safe and secure, but paying the same price, if not more, for the product and having to wait 4 days for it? The premium usually isn't worth the money when I can walk or bus to the store.

MSI or EVGA? the GPU is the same, is the only real difference the quality of components on the board?

>>
>>56658854
Pascal mostly performs identical with each vendor, so your choice should be based on aesthetics and load temps.
>>
>>56658854
EVGA has better warranty as far as I know. Idk, I usually go with AMD for GPU
>>
>>56658854
>is the only real difference the quality of components on the board?

if it's a reference design the only difference will be component brands (has not been an issue since mid 2000s), warranty, and quality of the heatsink and fans

if it's a non-reference design some brands might edge out on overclocking capabilities or might solve some reference design issues in which case look up reviews and consider your use cases

Bedrock seems to be an interesting meta-distro at first glance but it
has is no real usecase for it. Given the structure and obscurity (not even listed on dw) it is not suited for production but as a hands on desktop its bloated.

One seldom needs special version packages and often this can be achieved by using the instable/testing repository, by native selection (apt supports this) or my manual packaging.

Nobody needs a different init-system than systemd or the legacy ones that came with your outdated hipster distro.

Bedrock is a good research project but is not a day-to-day distro.

Is there any good adblock apps for Android that doesn't require rooting?

It's pretty much the only reason I root my phone and I don't see the point in rooting anymore.

do you use a virtual machine to set up a dev environment for each project?
>>
>>56658394

No. Only reason to use a virtual machine is if you're developing for another ISA or Operating System than you're developing on, or if you're developing malware.
>>
>>56658418
you wouldn't want to have a clean installation for each project?

I own the Galaxy S6, but Im curious.

Is there any way to get Android to run, with any chink bullshit or cydia crap, to run on iPhones? Their CPUs are superior and you can almost do as many things as an Android phone.

Not trying to faggot out, just curious is all. Trying to have a, nice lil convo with my favorite board.

Not possible as yet. Would require years of work by a lot of people, and for what?

Most people on either side of the fence are very happy there
