oh shit firefox reached version 50.0beta check it out! I mean it's lightning fast with e10s and reliable as always!
let's see
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/50.0beta/releasenotes/
New
Improved printing by using the Reader Mode
New preference for allowing Ctrl+Tab to cycle through tabs in recently used order
Find in page now supports a mode to search for whole words only
Fixed
Fixed rendering of dashed and dotted borders with rounded corners (border-radius)
Changed
Use accel-(opt/alt)-r as the reader mode keyboard shortcut
Emoji for everyone! Firefox will use built-in Emoji on operating systems without native Emoji fonts (Windows 8.0 and lower and Linux)
Locale added: Guaraní (gn)
unresolved
Firefox browser crashes when downloading files from mega.nz
Holy shit guys emoji are finally here! Based mozilla did it again! Truly a milestone for a browser.
i don't use firefox anymore
>New preference for allowing Ctrl+Tab to cycle through tabs in recently used order
theoretically, how many tab functions need to be disabled in order to get them working to like back in firebird, when it made sense?
this is by far my fav feature of new firefox - fucked up hardware acceleration/ tab fonts when browser is in the background
e10s didn't do shit. FF is still slow as fuck

Why not seed? If anything seeding is easier, its one less click than canceling it.
I'm an adult so I don't pirate anymore, but I never got this mentality among thieves. Why not work together?
Holy fucking shit, this is the worst word processor I've ever used. It's incredibly sluggish and memory intensive, the UI is obfuscatory and arbitrary, but only after you can dig through the cesspit of ugly nonsensical icons and geometry that hide it from you, and not a single feature is clearly demarcated or placed where you would expect it to be. The worst part is that there are a few nice features like the citation system but they're all underdeveloped and hidden behind so much bullshit that you'd rather perform their functions manually. I'd rather use an electronic typewriter than this steaming hot pile of shit. Word is the flagship Microsoft Office product so I'm assuming all the other components of the suite are even more fucked.
Why do businesses and schools and other institutions still pay out the ass to use this trash?

>Word is the flagship Microsoft Office product so I'm assuming all the other components of the suite are even more fucked.

What? Excel and Outlook are the flagship products. Businesses pay for those and some other products come with them.

Ever consider testing for autism, OP?
could be worse. you could be using openoffice.
Why is fedora not the go to GNU/linux? I've been using it the past few weeks, and literally have had no problems with speed or software installation. Is it because it's not bleeding edge or what?
>>56747001
fedora is bleeding egde, sometimes it acts strange due to huge upgrades incoming from repositories
>>56747001
because it neither gives no bragging rights nor it is completely for newbs
If I weren't an archfag I would use it or sid
>>56747001
>not bleeding edge
It is pretty bleeding edge. That's a reason to not use it.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I have never been the first one to start a general ever, so doing that was pretty cool. I came here because I now own an x220 and an x230 (just bought the x230 for my aunt), and was willing to answer questions anyone may have about either model.

QUestion from last thread: what's the difference between xorg.conf and xorg.conf.d?
I'm told to edit one sometimes or to edit the other. When I was messing with my touchpad configs one guide told me to sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf (which I did, and it worked) but another guide is telling me to add .d
I am looking for an ffmpeg command template I can follow so I can convert videos to webm. Want to be able to change file size, duration etc... I need to post my porns on /gif/. I am sure one of you have what I am looking for.

Srsly nigga?
I don't get why people put covers, visualizations and shit on their players, it's not like you're looking at it
So I have cut down the list to three distros now:
1. Xubuntu
2. Korora
3. Manjaro Xfce
Which one should I install? Note that I am coming from windows 8.1 and I'm looking for the one distro I can live the rest of my life with. So it has to be user friendly.
Always used xubuntu as my go-to beginner distro. It's comfy and minimalist and in most cases just werks
Definetely Xubuntu

Did they finally fix that bug where your mouse disappeared after suspend?
Does catalyst work with it?
OP is a dumb cunt that finally decided to move on with security and start using a password manager. Pen and paper seems to be not enough anymore.
Google gives fuckton of options to pick from. For better or worse, Lastpass seems to be leading the race. What does /g/ think of this one? Good? Bad? Ugly?
What are /g/'s preferred alternatives?

Good commercial solution: 1Password
Good open source solution: keepass
I use 1Password, they are a mom and pop software shop that's been around since the old days of computing and its always been an excellent product with great support.
