I'm no Apple fan, I don't even own an iPhone, but seriously, what is the "secret" behind their Macbooks ? Why is it that no other company can match its build quality? I can't wrap my head around it. Whether you like OS X or not, you have to admit that the Macbook - AS A LAPTOP, is the de facto best laptop ever made. Even Apple haters admit this.
>Throttlebook
>build quality
lol
Mac Pro is some 10/10 engineering tho, ill admit that.

Your point?
http://thenextweb.com/insider/2016/09/28/the-end-of-an-era-blackberry-will-no-longer-make-its-own-phones/
>BlackBerry Limited today confirmed that it will no longer create its own phones, instead choosing to rely on hardware partners like China’s TCL Corporation.
>In a statement, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said “The company plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners.”
>He added, “This allows us to reduce capital requirements and enhance return on invested capital.”
The news is hardly surprising. Since 2009, BlackBerry’s handset division has been in a terminal death-spiral, while devices running iOS and Android gained ground. Last year, Chen said that if the Canadian company was unable to reverse this downward trend, he would shut down any further hardware development.
>Going forward, any devices that carry the BlackBerry name will be rebadged Android phones from other manufacturers. Last year’s DTEK50 was essentially an Alcatel Idol 4, and the upcoming DTEK60 looks remarkably similar to the Alcatel Idol 4S.

The following command, when run as any user, will crash systemd:
NOTIFY_SOCKET=/run/systemd/notify systemd-notify ""
After running this command, PID 1 is hung in the pause system call. You can no longer start and stop daemons. inetd-style services no longer accept connections. You cannot cleanly reboot the system. The system feels generally unstable (e.g. ssh and su hang for 30 seconds since systemd is now integrated with the login system).

There may never be again, everything is completely fractured between people who only want to communicate with friends and people who also want those they hardly know to be able to find them.
Text messaging is still the best form of communication in my opinion and it actually pretty close to how IM used to work. But not that WhatsAPP horse shit, just straight SMS please.

Can you please change it up at least once in a while?
I bet there's some electrical engineers here, or at least someone with enough knowledge.
Will this work, or will I burn down my house?
I'm planning to modify an old microwave transformer to get from 230V to 12V and drive a car amp with it.
I would need around 500W RMS from the amp and the amp will be either Class D or AB (~90% vs ~50% efficiency). So I would need 47-84A to it, and that should I easily get from the transformer unless I'm totally wrong with the transformer calculation.
So:
Will an old AC transformer work for DC(maybe a retarded question)?
Does the idea look ridiculous, or do you think it will work?
try /diy/ if no can help here
Pretty sure you need to regulate that 12v.
DC cannot into a transformer.
Reminder that Mars One will be the first colony on Mars.
>he thinks some vaporware nonprofit, who dont even have a plan for funding, let alone technical details as to how their colony is going to work, is going to beat the guy who created the worlds largest online payment service, the first fully electric car company, and space launch company.

Soon I'm gonna migrate to Dell Venue 11 or Dell Venue 10.
I'm having trouble getting my torendo to work correctly.
Reinstalled it. Restarted. Says pic related. Not running any anti-virus aside from Windows firewall.
Tell me /g/ I have a SATA SSD and a motherboard that does not have the M2 port so was thinking about getting a PCI-E SSD instead of a new motherboard.
Is there much difference in speed between M2 SSD and PCI-E SSD?
I've downloaded a zip file that contained a video file in FLV format and a .scr file.
I've tried to run a "video" file in VLC, but it didn't play, instead the title menu showed the names of several dll.
How fucked I'm?
I fucked up.
Earlier today I got my internet taken down by my ISP, Cox. About 10 minutes of trying to reconnect to the internet later, I got something close to pic related (Pic isn't mine, but it was close enough). I went ahead and deleted the file in question, stopped it's seeding, closed my utorrent, and clicked the "click here" to reactivate my internet. It says it takes upwards of 15 minutes for the internet to come back online once you do that, but mine was back in about 2 minutes.
I had been seeding the file in question for about 4 hours before I got cut off. I normally don't seed at all, this was an accident and the first time I've been warned for doing something like this.
This wouldn't worry me by itself since I know you can't get sued by your ISPs for pirating things, but I am worried about COX's "3-strike rule" which apparently means that they can ban you from their service if they have to cut you off 3 or more times.
Apparently this is legal since it's COX's service and being a business they can do whatever they want with it.
Does anyone have any personal stories about getting caught for pirating? What are some ways I can pirate things more safely?
>>56831926
if I may ask what file did you torrent?
if you torrent a file with no comments, its probably a fake trap torrent set up by freelance companies organized by publishers that just record IP addresses.
HAIL HAIL FREEDONIA
>>56831952
It was some torrent I got for 10 Cloverfield lane like a month ago off piratebay. I downloaded one of the ones with loads of comments saying if the quality was good or bad etc. The file itself worked fine, basically DVD quality.
I literally never download things with low amounts of comments unless I'm really desperate for the file.
Be careful if you're looking for that movie on piratebay at the moment.
