what is up with some software not working on certain distros? i have to change to a different distro because of this.

i can't get ibus to work on lubuntu. i couldn't get mpv to work on triquel after compiling it.

My xperia z2 is braking apart and needs replacing, i'v been holding out for the new pixel xl since beginning of september, problem is that the 32 gig pixel (not xl) will most probably be around 850€ in sweden when they finally decide to launch it here... which is just as overpriced as an iphone...

Some options i have considered are:
Nexus 6p (would feel like paying for kinda outdated old hardware) for about 350€

Zte Axon 7 (have heard some not to nice things about the interface and camera) will be launched at about 450€ here

and after that i'm kinda stuck...

I would love to get the HTC 10 if it had just been built with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor...


Basically my requirements are: Android, rear mounted fingerprint sensor (never liked having the home button at the bottom of the screen), min 32 gig internal, sd card is a + but not a must, either 1080 or qhd screen (kinda prefer amoled, but lcd is not a dealbreaker). finally, I refuse to buy anything from samsung, had an s3, hated it.
Dont like the style of the LG G5.

Any suggestions?

You know something? Why do we have to argue all the time over iOS vs Android when they are pretty much the same thing? Why do we have to have multiple threads about Google releasing yet another phone that no one really cares about? Why do we have so many shitty general threads about fucking headphones and Thinkpads?

Really the most important question is actually, why do you guys define yourself and others by the consumerist technology you own? It would explain why there are daily threads of so called rich kids bragging about their new Macbook Pro + iPhone 7 purchase to a bunch of strangers on /g/. It would explain the kneejerk reactions to shit you don't like.

Fact is, a lot of you /g/ posters are far too easy to bait and shit all over. Too many of you are defined by what companies shit into stores like WalMart and Best Buy and are far too eager to defend them and shit on anyone else who disagrees. And don't think the GNU-fanboys are safe from this either, you guys are a bunch of lemmings too.

I'm not saying this to imply that I'm better than you, I often make similar mistakes. But just try to not be such a dog to companies that just want you to fight their battles for them.

Tomorrow I am going to look at a computer monitor a friend of a friend is selling, for £50 (That's around $63)

The story is, they bought it from somewhere for relatively cheap, looking to use it as their television.
It has VGA and DVI input but obviously them being less technical don't know to pipe television into that, they were expecting it to have HDMI, Scart etc etc.

Now the thing is, it is 60". Sixty-fucking-inches.

They've got a stand for it, they've got cables and a remote control. They claim it has no blemishes or burn-in but like I said i'm going to see it tomorrow. I don't know the make or model, I don't know the technical specification

Now the fact that it has a remote control but only VGA or DVI input tells me that it's some sort of presentation/board-room display, what do you think?

Lack of HDMI probably means it isn't terribly new and i'm thinking it possibly doesn't support HD resolutions?

If it does support at least 1920x1080 then i'll hook it to my PC and have it on the long wall of the livingroom as a film display.
If it doesn't then i'll probably still hook it up but use it for playstation games or something.

What do you guys think? Should I snap it up or should I sit this one out?

How the fuck do you figure out what RAM is compatible with your motherboard? I don't have the paperwork that came with the computer (it's in another city with my parents) and the PDF I found on google and fucking PC part picker have both lied to me so I'm looking at buying RAM for a third goddamn time to find some that's compatible.

How do you know if it's compatible?

What the fuck all do I need to know about my motherboard to find the most granularly specific label I can google to spit out a goddamn list of RAM I can shove in this fucker and have work?
