I was playing a game of CSGO earlier and the frame rate dropped from 200 to 35. At first I thought it was something server side ( I don't know why) but then I decided to open Speccy. My 4670 was running at 98 Celsius. Any idea what would have caused this out of nowhere? I'm thinking it either needs new thermal paste or the fan died.
Or the fan connector on the mobo took a dump. Any common shit that would be best to troubleshoot first? Thank you guys.
>>56933432
Dust?
Either your fan is dead, something is physically blocking it or your thermal paste expired months ago.
>falling for the 22nm jew
What happened to it?
Is it good and usable?
it is pretty basic
you can't run servers on it
when you close the last bash window, all Linux processes in the background are killed
It's good if you need to access some command line tools and can't be bothered to save space for a dual boot or virtual machine.
I use it when I have to do some light compilation and the like from my home computer (winshit because >games). It's alright.

Aside from the hideous logo on the space bar, does this look worthwhile? I just want something cheap to occasionally use with my laptop at home.

I'd say post this in the mech keyboard thread, but this is more tech relevant than 80% of the other threads.
>>56933157
its a 35 dollar keyboard, its fine. if your cheap you can try a coolmaster quickfire, I got mine for like 50 bucks on sale. the most basic ass mechanical keyboard around. I like it enough, got it mostly to test out a cherry reds. (way better then regular dum dum keyboards but still loud and not as good as a full clicky kind.)
https://www.amazon.com/Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Tenkeyless-Mechanical/dp/B00C2MBG2U?th=1
>>56933227
I would 100% but this if it was $50 and had a numpad
Honestly I'd like something nicer than OP in the long run because I'll end up using it with a tower once I get a new machine to be shared in the living room, but I'm nowhere near ready to invest $200+ into a mech board and I want to find a middle ground for now. Most of my keyboards up til now have been hand-me-downs or shit that a school/business was already throwing away.
In your honest opinion; what is the most secure and near untraceable OS out there?

Googles and Skypes are technology.
What is your opinion on them?
our opinions of a search engine and a video chat program?
why are you asking? is this just two random questions?

Sup /g/,
I'm interested in putting one of my monitors in a portrait (vertical) orientation for superior webbrowsing.
Any of you got a portrait monitor setup? How's it treating you?
>>56933045
That's where the ads go fag.
>>56933045
i have a pair of portrait mode monitors and a landscape monitor (my laptop). it's great for web browsing, reading, coding, etc...
if you work for a living, it's great. if you play games and eat chicken tendies all day, maybe leave it in landscape (or at least make sure your monitor articulates easily)
>>56933071
I have a multi-monitor setup and my TV connected a few feet away. I intend to keep one of my monitors in landscape and a 24 inch one in portrait for work/browsing.
I play 90% of games on the TV in comfy couch mode anyway so that's really no concern.
I still need to find an affordable vertical VESA stand for my monitor though. Might go with a swingarm setup.
Back to the age old question, buttons. Or more specifically physical buttons.
Do you prefer physical buttons, or not? Why?
I really liked the well textured buttons the S5 Active
you like them because they are actual physical buttons, not the bullshit touch ones that you can't feel or even fucking see in some cases, so you have zero feedback
Physical buttons or bust
>>56933006
>>56932969
I prefer capacitive buttons like in the Chinese phones.
Would be easier for waterproofing and looks more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.
How do we get a landscape keyboard phone made?
Make it as a MotoMod for the Moto Z so you can type with your MotoKeyboard.
I miss physical phone keyboards so fucking much
Also OP looks gorgeous

>>56932781
If you're in a decent CS program your classes will mostly be math and computability classes which are theory based and don't need a computer.
Maybe you should have joined a web dev program or something OP
iOS portrait mode is actually stunning. Especially considering it's still being worked on and in beta.
god that blur is awful looking. i mean i realize i'm spoiled by DSLR gear but it looks like a really rudimentary automatic photoshop effect was just thrown onto the image.
the masking isn't even very well-done. the water next to her dress (at the bottom on the left) isn't blurred at all, but the rest of the water seems to be.
i have an iphone but i would definitely disable this if this were how the results came out.
Apple wins again

to illustrate
>Yesterday decide to boot into Windows to check what's new in the anniversary update
>Windows update breaks itself trying to update a printer driver I've never installed
>Follow long instructions on Microsoft's website about how to reset windows update
>They don't work. Be told to download an executable that resets it
>Run the script
>Now Windows update encounters a different error
>Be told to run some built in windows executable that repairs system image
>It takes about an hour it says it can't reach the source of images (download progress bar is at 40%)
>Oh well, click on the next one of Microsoft's countless help pages for this 1 issue
>It's the same instructions I've followed before, but the page has a section telling me that I can download a standalone upgrade executable
>It spends a good while downloading and preparing updates, says I need to reboot
>Reboots to a blank screen
>I can see the hard drive being accessed sporadically, but there's no other indication that it hasn't crashed
>It's late, I go take a shower, make myself a cup of tea, come back to the computer to see it still with a blank display accessing the hard drive every now and then
>As I reach for the power button, I see it starting access the drive much more intensively
>It reboots again, now to a solid colored screen with a progress percentage indicator
>After another ~20 minutes, It's rebooted to desktop
>I open the Windows update utility and press on the 'check for updates' button and go to sleep
>Wake up in the morning and see it has rebooted again
>Open the Windows update utility and press 'check for updates', it tells me there's another cumulative update to install
>Install, reboot, check for updates again
>After 5 more minutes of checking it finally tells me I'm up to date
Wow, the previous time I tried updating Windows it took me well over 24 hours and this was only maybe 12. They're definitely improved something. Is it that Linux subsystem they now have?
>>56932664
Must be
>>56932664

>Being too retarded for Windows
Why are Linuxtards so fucking stupid?
Is the 6 Plus still worth it? I know Apple supports their devices pretty far back, but my sister is complaining that her's is getting slow/crappy. Not sure if that's just because she's retarded or the phone is actually starting to show it's age.
Looking to jump ship from Android but I don't want to pay the full price tag for a new iPhone.
i *still* have a regular old 6 and i don't see myself replacing it in the next year. maybe not for another 2 years, but it's hard to predict that far out with smartphones. nothing seems to be nagging me right now (the battery life had deteriorated, unsurprisingly, but replacing the battery was actually pretty easy - i opened my phone for the first time a little after the iPhone 7 announcement and replaced the battery within about 20 minutes.
>>56932567
It's getting slow because iOS 10 is made to run like shit on devices from 2014. It's their typical two year cycle shit. If you stay on iOS 9 you'll have few problems in that sense but will have to eventually deal with a lack of app support.
>>56932597
Oh, and I'm using a 6 on iOS 9 still. Works just as well as it always has, though I'll probably switch soon out of boredom, this is now my sixth year with one of two iPhones.
ITT: share rare softwares that only you use
ill go first. it is called Imagine and its a simple photo viewer. it has zero bloat and opens all image formats (there are some plugins available too for some obscure formats). I like it a lot but I'm the only guy who uses it.

will a cpu having 4 quad cores like the i5 4460 use a bottleneck somewhere with the new amd radeon rx 460 ?
>>56932393
You should go for 8 quadcores OP.
Get a proper rx460 and no, its good with i5/i7 quadcores
Sapphire makes a 4gb OC'd one thats baller, go with that
tho one day i would like to get the stock amd concept...

some games are cpu heavy, some games are gpu heavy.
starcraft might totally shit on an older quad core
witcher 3 might totally shit on the rx460

Its probably more garbage than the S7 series.

Its fucking great, but falls short in areas I hate.
I'll stick with my HTC 10.
