Hello guys, I am begginer in programming so I started learning Python, Would you reccommend it for a begginer? Can you recommend me other languages?
Thanks to everyone.
Well, I'm only a few months into programming, but I hear Python is the most beginner-friendly language there is. One of the easiest and all.
>>57036839
and one that teaches you an awful coding style
forth, c, lisp, etc are all better choices for intro languages
The secret to programming, like any other hobby, it to just fucking do it and stop looking for the right way to do it. Pick a random fucking book from your library and start doing
Need a name for our hackathon team quickly. Any suggestions /g/?

why do all browsers suck?
the current web atmosphere has people opening multiple tabs in a single session. why do browsers go to a slow crawl so easily now?
seriously. let's discuss it.
my theory that websites are full of nonsense bloat nowadays. what do you think?
>>57036413
Safari's the only one that doesn't suck. It's small, fast, renderes everything perfectly, preserves battery life like no other browser, uses the least amount of RAM etc etc.
but it fuckign sucks that I can only run it inside of a VM.
>>57036413
Blame SJW coders. They are more concerned with removing "master" and "slave" references from their code.
Just use an older version of firefox and dont go to any dodgy websites.
Why do all fucking laptops want to be macbooks now? It makes me sick. I'm sick of thise homosexual design. I want old varying designs of laptops like the old days. Not this buttfucking homo shit.
i go to my local laptop store and all i see everywhere is this bullshit apple design. makes me sick
I'm just trying to find a nice sturday laptop that doesn't look like it wwas built to be handled by soft pink homo hands.
Take some time to enjoy edges

Just stick to outdated ChinkPads if you don't want to fucking evolve with technology.
>>57036248
XPS 13, you dumbfuck. Everything looks outdated as shit compared to it, those bezels are fucking sex.
>quad-core 2.8GHz
>$40 total from china
What's the catch?
Is this really the best performance/price CPU?
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+X5560+%40+2.80GHz
Higher power use compared to newer chips, which is probably negligible unless your electrical rates suck.
Higher power consumption, old as fuck so requires obscure motherboard and RAM. It's a really bad investment, just get an Athlon X4 845.
>>57036245
I just need something cheap that can act as a testing box for exploits and that cpu only goes for 2x as much as the xeon around here.
I need something under $200 that will run out of an orange crate
Anons, I'm between the LG G4 and the Oneplus 2. The LG has a better camera and screen but the oneplus has 4GB of RAM (ddr4), digital sensor and snapdragon 808 while the LG has 3GB (ddr3) and snap 808. Till now I prefer the oneplus. Can give me some tip or an use report ? thks
>>57036098
I'd pick the oneplus 2 if only to not have navigation buttons on my screen

Hey guys, i have a 2nd round interview tommorow for a QA position. i was told that i would be given a laptop with a pre-installed application and would have to test it for defects. The more defects that i find the better my score.
So i was wondering if any of you have done anything similar, and what are some common defects to look out for?
Thanks

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Nice false dichotomy.
Proud Samsung hater since immediately after the Galaxy Nexus. TouchJizz peasants can go cry about their hardware being just as shit as their software now.
>>57036002
Easily. They'll just release a new note then just rebrand it as Galaxy S8 Pro or something, if they even keep the Galaxy name for their phones
Because why the fuck not.
OP here with the most normie setup.
I only have one of my pc's speccy.
if it stay's up for a hour i might find the second one again.

>have a job that requires me to have a corporate-issued iPad, iPhone, and a corporate email
>turn off location services on my ipad, shut off the company phone permanently and told coworkers to call my personal cell because i dont like the idea of my job knowing where im at or who ive been talking to
>decide to sync my corporate email account to my personal cell so i can check my work email while im out in the field
>get a notification about updating mail privacy settings
>ok
>the email server requests that i give permission to allow it to mandate my lock screen settings, completely disable my camera, have access to all my contacts, call logs, text messages, GPS location, allow remote data encryption, and allow a remote factory reset and destruction of all data on my phone without any prior notice
What the FUCK /g/. I just want to check my fucking work email and get notifications when I get mail. How in the holy fuck can a mail server even have the functionality to nuke my phone remotely?
>>57035929
Because a company would have to be absolutely fucking retarded to allow idiots like you to access sensitive information on an insecure device.
Stop being autistic?

I have an interesting question or a question I at least THINK is interesting.
If the Internet were completely and totally destroyed or overrun by laws prohibiting certain things being spoken about, what new method of communication would /g/ come up for use at a national scale at least, or if one could be thought up, an international scale?
Anything from piggy-backing off of current networks like the phone system to completely new mediums of communication, what would you guys do?
Pic unrelated.
probably a combo of ham radio + ethernet cables strung around telephone poles

Have you ever installed some pirated commercial software for Linux? What was it?
I've never even come across a pirated Linux software. Do Linux piracy sites/private torrent sites even exist???
>>57035836
I installed pirated photoshop and office on Linux before
Vidyer games can be pirated. Some rare software that has actually been ported to Loonix can be pirated as well.
>>57035836
the few examples of FOSS software that charge for downloads (xchat, synergy) typically provide gnu/linux versions for free and those that don't (partedmagic) typically list all non-custom tools that they use so there's very little free software to pirate
