Just tried to post and got a message saying I was banned on the 27th and it expires on the 28th of September. Obviously I was able to immediately click out of it and continue on.

I've been posting all day, and the post it was referring to was nothing I've ever seen. The ban was for posting off-topic discussion on /g/.

What the fuck happened? Are 4chan's servers taking a shit after moot 2 took over?

No they aren't all bad, infact foobar itself isn't even that great. Rhythmbox and clementine are good music players for Linux. Deadbeef is similar to foobar in the ui customization part but not as full featured as some other players.

Over time or at the time I got it?

it improved it over time but at the time of getting my first pc (C64)
I didn't use it all that much i only played Turbo and pacman and did my homework on it.
I didn't know that many Dos commands for a long time.

I was a console baby then it was easier to use.

I don't have problem with women who diligently work, but with cunts who want to scream and scream and name a huge deal and whatever little they did

Pretty weird coincidence eh.

What video encoding method would you /g/entoomen personally choose for archiving* purposes?

(*in my particular case, I mean turning the raw uncut video into reasonably sized yet still great quality form, for future editing)

Lossless? What codec: Huffyuv? h.264's lossless setting? Something else?

Lossy? How lossy is acceptable for you?
At what bitrate would you consider the video visually indistinguishable from the source, encoded with <your codec of choice>?

Scenefags tend to use <10k bitrate for h.264, if I'm not mistaken. But I imagine a proper 1080p@60fps video (that's not cropped almost to half vertically) would require considerably higher values.

Haven't found an in-depth video encoding guide for this on the /g/ wiki. (That webm guide looks neat though, will mess around with it sometime.)
If my questions seem retarded, that's probably because I don't have a deep enough understanding of the whole encoding process. Yeah.

It depends man. How about you just describe your exact scenario?

if you can afford the space you'd be dumb to not just dump the file and put it somewhere safe. But if you're pressed for space, H265 or VP9 is the way to go. Almost all of the new chipsets going forward will have hardware decoding for them-- from your Laptop to a Chromebook to cell phones.

Just be prepared to spend a lot of time encoding.
>>
>>57037946
>describe your exact scenario
Various 1080p@60fps recordings eating up terabytes of space currently, aiming to convert it all into a form that doesn't hog ~1GB for every sec of video...

>if you're pressed for space, H265 or VP9 is the way to go
Haven't looked into those yet, I wonder if Avidemux and/or FFmpeg can handle them.

>Just be prepared to spend a lot of time encoding.
Not really a problem, I guess.

Just curious how /g/ prefers to do proper video encoding of this sort.
>>
>>57038077
I usually throw terabytes through the nvenc extension on FFMPEG to do h.265. Hardware encoding is a significant quality loss, but the space savings are amazing. A slight blurriness is worth 70% space savings imo.

Has anyone gotten to the raw conclusion that Linux is getting worse gaming performance benchmarks than both Windows and MacOS because of X11? Seriously think about it, X11 is slow, screen tearing up the ass, bloated and straight garbage, even Apple ditched X, after they did Apple had decent gaming benchmarks compared to when they had X11 as their default display server, and even then you can see that Linux on X11 performed better than MacOS on X11, so I put this to test by using Wayland to play simple OpenGL and Vulkan games and they performed seamlessly faster than on Windows or MacOS,

people talked about how old and busted init scripts were all the time. and how we needed a modern replacement for this annoying junk
then we got systemd

>>57037907
except the difference between SystemD and Wayland is, Wayland is following the Unix way, isn't monolithic giant bloated garbage and doesn't sabotage Linux as a whole

Honest questions :
(1) why should I use Slackware over Arch if I want binary based distro? I think I can tolerate systemd with pacman better than no systemd at the price of a shitty packet manager

(2) if I absolutely want systemd off, why should I choose Slackware over gentoo? Gentoo has better support and a larger community

(3) if I want a 'meme' distro, why should I take Slackware over something even more exotic?

I considered Slackware few months ago when changing from Arch to gentoo. Now I am trying to decide whether to go back to Arch (I was used to it), stay longer on gentoo (I still lack knowledge about kernel optimization to fully take all the benefits from it) or try something new.
