I don't remember how many times I created this thread on /qa/, why doesn't gook moot care about us? It was a totally different sub culture, also we didn't need to stay in exposure of GPU wars, wallpaper threads.
Please bring it back.
all you did was post "JEWS" ad infinitum
nice facebook-quality post

Bringing /prog/ back won't bring the same users back. It's possible the majority of them left 4chan entirely.
Perhaps it's time for you to leave /g/.
Why are linux users such smug self-satisfied knobs?
>As I tried out distributions, I didn't find the one that fits me best. Necessity is the mother of all inventions, and so I concluded that I would create my own distribution. By then I was comfy with aptitude and apt-get, and other terminal commands like ls, wget, cd, and many others. So, I did what every guru does and learned how to use Bash and make scripts.
>With my Bash skills in hand and the vast Internet for guidance, I used a great program called Ubuntu-Builder that set up everything and dropped it into a chrooted environment. Using my scripting-fu, I set out to create Sol-OS.

I honestly don't get linux shills.
I've been using linux since 2007ish. Keep trying it every year or so.
If you want to do any decent modifications on Linux prepare to have a new fucking part-time job.
Will never forget the clusterfuck that was getting my usb wifi to work. Took maybe 12 terminal commands and multiple system file edits.
Linux desktop is only good if you don't change ANYTHING, or have enough time and patience to fix shit and make it cozy.
Still love having it in my VM so I can do bash and shit, even within windows. PCI passthrough GPU too. Cozy.
I used linux on THinkpad until the BIOS got rooted by an OTA update. Then I realized that nothing is secure and I gave up caring about computers.

I don't get Apple shills, and I never had any problems with Linux. What's your point exactly?
I'm thinking about setting up a home server. Which would be better to use: An old cheap intel atom laptop or a raspberry pi Model B?
The laptop.
raspi is complete shit for data transfer because USB and networking happen over the same bus.
>>57038673
>wanting a server to be as weak as possible
Fucking neither?
Get a used Dell Poweredge from Ebay for like $30.
>>57038702
I sure hope you're not paying your electric bill.
Why does /g/ have so many generals but no /apple/ general?
Can it be a thing, are are we 2edgy4apple ?
>>57038647
fuck off
Having an Apple general is like having a white history month.
>>57038658
>Are we too edgy for Apple?
There's your answer
>Walk out of computer science lecture
>See art students finger painting
>walk out of art history lecture
>see computer science students drawing UML diagrams
>Walk out of art class
>See one white computer science student nervously surrounded by Asians
>walk out of physics lecture
>see computer science student struggling to understand calc 1 and 2

what do i do to fix this damn thing i just want a linux distro on a usb its so damn comfy looking.
>>57038505
are you too retarded to know how to boot off of a USB drive?
>>57038818
> try resetting and going to bios to make setting say usb/dvd number one
You probably fucked it and it isn't bootable. Or you're trying to read it as USB-FDD when you should be trying to read it as USB-HDD. Or you fucked it in some other way. Go fix your problem instead of bitching about it here.
Just saw this vid posted on reddit

Can anyone speak to the quality of Neewer mics? 34 bucks for all this shit seems almost too good
Don't really know, but I've been considering the $54 kit that comes with the phantom power. Bumping for interest.

Okay, it's gone up a dollar, but this is still tempting. Is this way overkill just for chatting/gaming? I do occasional RiffTrax-ish stuff with friends, but that's as much use as it would likely see in addition to the chat/gaming.
why is xubuntu a mouse
because xfce
>>57038493
idk but why would you use xubuntu when ubuntu mate exists?
That's the xfce mascot/symbol thing. I always wondered what rodentia have to do with the 'viking' on the file browser.
Hey, /g/, I'm looking to install Linux and I really like the layout/look of Arch. However I'm not too skilled with Linux quite yet and the install proved too difficult for me. Any good alternatives?
debian
When everything fails
Install gentoo

The look has nothing to do with the distro newfag. Linux distros are like dolls that you dress with clothes (DEs), and then you just look at them because you can't do shit with them.
>finally start buying into the pc master race meme
>microsoft cross selling all games now making xbox irrlevent
>can just keep the ps4 for those games
>one of the very first cross-buy games is unplayable on pc
>admittedly just a direct port from the xbox version
>built on x86
>but no hardware in traditional pc form has the memory bandwidth to process the game
>only the most autistic DDR4 ram that's also OC'd and a 1080 gpu can barely run it at a steady framerate
>multiple patches and still no improvement
>the game is designed to need x-number of memory bandwidth which can't just be fixed because of deep coding necessities
>remember every other week when AAA games have massive issues that take months or never get fixed at all like Batman AK and others
>on top of that have to wait months for cheaper steam keys on G2A to match the price of renting the games thru gamefly or other services on XO and PS4
it literally is still a meme, sorry.
>muh games
grow up or keep your nintendo
also you said it yourself, the game was poorly implemented in the windows platform
>>57038487
the game was designed around x86 archetecture
why doesnt the PC marketplace have console pleb memory bandwidth?
>>57038397

I'm running it right now ultra @ 50-60fps

how hard would it be to make a physically based rendering system that utilizes the principles of absorption/emmission/scattering to define materials.
>>57038380
I thought that's what radiosity which was why it was so costly to render.
>>57038403
*did
>>57038418
i think that has to do with pathtracing, which is populating a bunch of rays whereas this is just assigning parameters that you still have to create artificially for scattering and such. it's just that they're REAL parameters not just specularity or quadratic attenuation.
Where can I talk to hackers and such, I was researching some things and need some info cause I hit a wall.
Preferably black hats or grey hats
Pic not related.
>>57038318
You can just email the manufacturer/developer of the system you're trying to fuck.

Sure, ask here.
