The current Fedora 25 Beta with the mainline 4.8 kernel has support for RPis (2&3) with it's armhfp port.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
This has nothing to do with fedora. Linux supports the newer RPis as of 4.8, and every distro is going to naturally inherit that while using it
>>
>>57043533
Only if they actually have an ARM port and provide images that actually allow you to boot from the uSD card.

Fedora is the first one as far as I am aware.
>>
>>57043573
I've been running Debian on a raspberry pi for years.

>Only if they actually have an ARM port
Most distros do and if they don't you can just compile the source tree for ARM
>and provide images that actually allow you to boot from the uSD card
I don't think you understand boot media

Not to mention that official kernel support is not necessary to actually run the kernel. Most linux distros, and even some Windows builds, have bene able to run on the raspberry pis for years. Nobody is talking about this because it isn't significant and doesn't change anything.

Thinkpads are expensive, close to Apples prices. Just because you can buy used Thinkpads from bank leases doesn't mean they were cheap at release.

That said, older BlackBerry phone are probably the Thinkpads of the mobile world

A question for all these Linux distro lovers:

Is it that hard to develop a user-friendly interface using Linux as base? Just keep it simple for everybody (90% of users only want this), but give them the chance of using the "complex mode" (terminal, coding, advanced features...). If you want a wider user rate, allow them to do what they really need (office, media, internet, games...), without having to write lines of code. And keep it visually attractive (see OSX).

Is there a way to isolate hiss from a recording, and then use that isolation to subtract from the original audio?

I have a chain set up, basically I apply maximum treble (inverse RIAA curve) to an audio file, which results in intense hissing and popping from the recording, i then run passive NR over that, and a standard RIAA curve to re-EQ the file, then invert the resulting waveforms. The results are disappointing.

Alternative: If you apply the out of phase (karoke) to a mono recording recorded in stereo, you're left with only pops and hissing. Can I use this to remove these exact sounds from the original?

You can with audacity. The results may vary.

Better to get decent gear
>>
>>57043260
If you're doing this for real, you need to get the iZotope RX plugins.
>>
>>57043278
I know it has a NR where you select a section of buzzing and it removes it from the rest of the audio. Unless you mean something else

>>57043302
I just have some LPs that I recorded to the computer that are good except for the noise. The reason why I'm doing this is because these particular recordings never made it to CD or digital at all, so this is my only chance of preserving them.

Around 200€ I think, I'm not sure about it.
On the other side (if that's too pricey) you could just get a normal smartphone and just install a custom SailfishOS ROM onto it.

is it worth learning C# for professional employment reasons in the current year? Or should I just learn C++
6 posts and 1 images submitted.

Do you already know java? Then employers often deduce you also can learn/have already learned C# fast.
If not learn it. C#/Java are the languages with the highest amount of open positions.
>>
>>57043287
>Then employers often deduce you also can learn/have already learned C#

Then you applied to the wrong job. If they want you kode with karlie the JavaEE stack, then they will use java only and won't switch to C# or whatever. You can say then they will expect you to be an X86 assembly coder because they need a versatile dude who will do the work of 3 people for the wage of 1. :(
>>
>get a job because you learned the appropriate language

How often does this actually happen?
Every dev I know was hired because he already had years of experience with the relevant environment.
