want to try xiaomi.eu or CM soon tho
>Since when do you use it?
3 months
>Are you satisfied?
Overall yes.
>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
xiaomi.eu ROM, which is MIUI with less bloat.
Would use CM if there was a good CM ROM.
>What's your battery life like?
Usually I charge it every second night.
>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Autobrightness is not working very well, pretty bad actually
I sometimes have problems with mobile data connections
I also hate that the minimal volume of the speakers, when on a call, is still too loud... why not let the user make the speakers as silent as they want? Dumb
Otherwise it works perfectly.
Also are you guys using a screen protector?
I mean this phone doesn't have gorilla glass.
I'm not using a screen protector and still after all this time my screen looks like brand new. Guess they are using something very similar to gorilla glass.
Is there a reason why i shouldnt upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10?
>>57144486
Do it faster, go-I mean-boy! You're missing out!
>>57144486
Windows 10 has DirectX12 (assuming you need it)
>>57144486
Yes, there's a 50/50 chance that you'll get a working OS after installing Windows 10.

Apple re-invents the keyboard
>The new keyboards will be a standard feature on MacBook laptops, and will be able to display any alphabet, along with an unlimited number of special commands and emojis, people familiar with the plans said.

This will finally get me to use emojis
Wasn't this done with a keyboard with LED lights on every individual key a while back?

Yes, it was called Optimus Maximus and costed more than $1000.

My monitor and my desktop tower are no longer communicating. I changed monitor cables between the two ports on the card - no luck. Guessing the card is fried.
Bought it a few years ago from iBuypower. Monitor is an Acer G215H. Tower is an i-Series 301. Motherboard is an M4A77TD. Current card is a Radeon HD 5700, what would be a good upgrade? I occasionally play some games like SC2, otherwise it's just Web browsing, etc. Can't afford high-end, just want a good value.
arround 100€ you have many hd7970 or r9 280x (r9 380-gtx960perf)
if you wan`t more power for 150€ you have r9 290x.
(rx480/gtx1060 perf)
>>57144489
Thanks, gives me a few options to start with.
>>57145461
im a different anon, but first off change the slots your ram sticks are in (take the one furthest from CPU and put it closest to CPU)
secondly, the RX 460/470 or GTX 1050ti would be worthy cards (if the ti delivers on its promises)
I have a 290x and it demolishes any game I have, my R9 280 played the same games very well

What's a relatively minimal distro to be installed/burned on USB flash drive, preferably with persistence.
Just need it to have mpv/FireFox/python2,3/ffmpeg/pdf tools/Office suite.
Any suggestions?

I'm upgrading my Ubuntu distro and it's taking forever. I have a train to catch in 20 minutes. What's the worst thing that could happen if I cancel while it's on "installing the upgrades"?
Blackberry's BB10 phones sold badly, so BB switched to Android and the new Android phones aren't doing any better (worse in some cases).
What's the problem?
>>57143501
the other 10000 android phones out there.
BB10 had horrible support.
Android ones are selling on the wrong gimmick, also trying to sell with a weak name in the market.
I just want a Passport that runs android. That's all they have to do
Dear /g/.
I often see posts about "Windows 10 telemetry" and how it is supposed to spy their users and all. I was digging the problem and from what I saw, I can configure it to reduce talking back to acceptable level. "Acceptable", because I dont consider sole fact that OS is communicating with some server enough to call it "botnet".
Show me, why you think Im wrong.
In other words, as owner of (not installed yet) Win10 Edu copy, if MS is saying:
>You can configure telemetry at the Security level, turn off Windows Defender telemetry and MSRT reporting, and turn off all other connections to Microsoft network endpoints as described in this article to help prevent Windows from sending any data to Microsoft. There are many reason why these communications are enabled by default, such as updating malware definitions and maintain current certificate revocation lists, which is why we strongly recommend against this.
>technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/manage/manage-connections-from-windows-operating-system-components-to-microsoft-services
why I shouldnt believe them?
I know that some people will say "because they are corporation" or something like that, but such assumption is simply silly. Other big companies also utilize MS products - what point would it have to lie to them? And what implications would have discovering such lies? People are suggesting "selling data for ads" and similar, but again, while it does make sense in case of totally free OS (which Win10 is not), it doesnt in case of corporate and similar devices. Imagine the court cases against MS, if this would actually be true. Funny enough, as some people say "if it sound logical, it doesnt automatically mean it is true", and it apply to both cases.
Another argument is about those few videos, .gifs and .webms with people showing "Enterprise LTSB" like some magic sign and then internet activity spikes not only when typing something but also with mouse clicks.
(field too long, cont in next post)
While packages during start searching are easy explained with start menu using internet searching as integrated with Bing (something that can be easily disabled in Group Policies, as shown in link I posted - turning it off also really speeds up search function, as I noticed at work), mouse clicks make no sense. Especially odd with so little info about tested machine and its settings, never showed on those videos.
Others would also point out that Windows is closed source, so it is enough reason, like if open source status would automatically make software glorious and kind, especially given how much people actually looked into the code of distro they use.
There are other suggestions, even ranging to scanning all contents of your hard drive. While PhotoDNA function is indeed use on OneDrive, I couldnt find any proofs that the same happens to your HDDs, let alone actual scanning of all contents. And what would they do with petabytes of data generated that way every day?
Once again - why I shouldnt believe their explanations and own articles?
Im not attacking anyone, I just want to fish out answer in the sea of memes.

Can anyone tell me why my ram is at such a low Mhz value? It should be at 1333Mhz.
Thanks!
>>57142936
You have dual channel
679*2 = 1358
>>57142984
Oh, so that's what it is.
Thanks, learn something new everyday!
>>57142984
>You have dual channel
That has nothing to do with it.
The actual frequency the RAM chips run at is HALF of the DDR speed because DDR is DOUBLE data rate, essentially it works on the up and down frequency doubling the actual frequency.
Pisses me off when people spread this misinformation, I have quad channel and mine is still 1/2 of the actual speed because it has nothing to do with double or triple or quad channel, and everything to do with the actual frequency of the memory.
Can /g/ suggest a suitable replacement to my finally dead iPod Classic? Yes I'm one of those fags who likes to carry all of their music on a dedicated device rather than sticking it all on my phone.
Was thinking maybe getting either a Walkman with a micro SD card but can you guys recommend anything better?

Walkmans are a solid choice. I'd say stick with that

If Linux is so great, superior and completely free, why hasn't it replaced Windows yet?
>>57142419
No games.
It has in all markets but desktop
>>57142419
Look, Linux is in fact objectively superior to Windows. But people don't give a shit about freedom and change. They just want something that werks and have muh gaymes. People are afraid of change.
