Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

>Despite it's phone-like appearance, the Sirius A, made by Dutch hardware firm Ockel, runs a desktop version of Windows 10 and has the ports needed to be hooked up to a monitor, keyboard and network.
>Currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, the mini-PC also includes a six-inch touchscreen, 1080p display for use on the go, 64GB in-built flash storage, a microSD booster slot, 3.5mm audio port and a 3,000mAH battery.
>But unlike a smartphone, the Sirius A also comes with two USB 3.0, a USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort and Ethernet ports, as well as a 12V power input for when it is used as a desktop. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are also included.

It's just KGB instead of NSA.

people use the term botnet originally to describe Chrome.
it was the first browser with a URL spellcheck service and a "load first hit in the background" option turned on by default.

>>57145450
Which one?
What's the point of LUKS/dm-crypt, BitLocker, and FileVault when there's a cross-platform solution that is also free and open source (Veracrypt)?
And, most important of all: AUDITED?
>there will never be an audit of either BitLocker or FileVault, and dm-crypt/LUKS is still actually unaudited despite people claiming it to be better
>PROTIP: Just because you don't have a GUI to manage LUKS/dm-crypt volumes doesn't mean it's more secure
>>57145328
People feel safer with what they know and what has been proven to hold up as evidenced by court cases, even if those cases were a long time ago and shouldnt be a valid argument as new developments are made all the time whether you know it or not. As of today, I trust Veracrypt more than those listed.
>>57145328
I can't use whole disk encryption with VeraCrypt under Linux or Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. So LUKS/dm-crypt and Bitlocker are still necessary for that. Also, Veracrypt is hosted on Microsoft's github clone and there is no reason not to use TrueCrypt 7.1 which has been audited in the meantime. VeraCrypt has no real reason to exist until they add the wde for Windows 8, 8.1 or 10.
>>57146581
What the fuck does having it hosted on Microsofts github clone have to do with anything when its FOSS?
