Let's have an infographic thread. We haven't had one of these in a long time.
Just placed an order for pic related.
Comfy-ness here I come :)
a fucking noname tft from the early 2000s?
do you have masochistic tendencies?
>>57151375
>le older, outdated software is "comfy" meme
have you ever stopped to think that maybe Windows XP was comfy because you were comfier around the time it came out? you just wasted your money.
>>57151422
But anon. I have never been comfier than I am today.
4:3 is the comfiest resolution. Look in your heart, you know it to be true.
It feels nice being one of the only people in the world with Android 7.1.1

It's a nexus 5x with developer preview, not Pixel

What if I'm not using a wifi cable?
spread bad rumours about the internet so they stop talking
Planned obsolescence
>No upgradability
>Locked down software
>No customization
>Stupid buzzwords
>Locked down hardware

And another companies are following the train.
honestly it's the same business model intel uses
at least intel is straight forward with their technology advancements being in a 2 year cycle
apple supported the 4s until the most recent iOS so that's probably better than most mobile device support
what do you think are buzzwords and what do you think qualifies as buzzwords, OP?
Do you even touch type, /g/?

Which method did you use to learn how to do it?
they taught us this stuff back in middle school
>>57151264
>Which method did you use to learn how to do it?
Using a computer regularly?
What the fuck it should just come naturally.. stop looking at your fucking keyboard.
>>57151346
Touch typing is not only about not looking at your keyboard and start typing.
Kinda feels like computer tech is stagnating for a while now
>>57151247
Yeah, for like 15 years.
Nope, still using operating systems with 30 year old code bases and hardware is improving only slightly faster than shitty bloat can make it obsolete.
X86 is still everywhere and we just got over the literally decades old 1366x768 meme (XGA with sideskirts) so there's that
So my dad's gonna buy me a laptop. The problem is that he's probably gonna take me to Best Buy to get it. Is there anything even worth buying there?
A Google Play gift card
>dad's buying me a laptop
You have to be 18 to post on 4chan

Here we will compile a list of things newfa/g/s should do in order to become good software developers. I'll start with a non-exhaustive list. Feel free to edit or add more content and place it appropriately in the list. We will be using chronological order.
>sell your gaymen laptop, gaymen desktop, or macbook
>purchase a used thinkpad, preferably T420 or older
>install Gentoo linux and familiarize yourself with the command line
>install vim and familiarize yourself with hotkeys

My phone is dying and I need to buy a new one.
I'm thinking about buying one of these, because of the money I have and the points I have on Vodafone.
Which one is better?
>>57150782
There's a thread for this.

If CLI was so good, how come literally every computer in the world, with no exceptions, is running a GUI?
Really makes you go
>Hmmmm
>>57150726
This is a 20 year old Japanese woman.
My servers do not have GUIs.
>literally every computer in the world, with no exceptions, is running a GUI
Mmmmmmm...
Is there any reason that I shouldn't/couldn't use FreeBSD as my main OS?
I have no aversion to nonfree drivers.
>>57150641
Because Gentoo offers you the same experience with more software support.
>>57150694
>Gentoo offers you the same experience
how do you live with yourself when you lie like that
BSD systems are rarely compiled from scratch, they come with every binary you need in base
>>57150641
Use OpenIndiana Hipster.
FreeBSD isn't hipster enough.
What is the best prank of all time?
Telling people to install Linux.

is there any actual, practical reason for me to use free software, or is it just a /g/ meme?
it usually works better than propietary alternatives
linux/bsd>other propietary kernels
vlc/mpv>other propietary media players
firefox/chromium>other propietary browsers
Yes, I use free software to view, store and organize my waifu's image collection
If something goes wrong and basic diagnostics and solutions don't work I can check the source code of the programs I use, find patches on the internet or even fix the code myself. With free software I achieve 99.99% waifu availability, somethings which was impossible in the past with proprietary software.
>>57150664
>>57150682
what about just for your average user, who doesn't know how to program or check source code. will they see any actual benefits?
