Hey /g/
I was wondering if there were / are any attempts to build and deploy a next generation imageboard, which would use modern technologies like push notifications via websockets. The only project that could fit in this category I've found on GH was Scalaba and it's dead with last commit 3 yrs ago.
Are there any specific reasons why aren't imageboards built with newer technologies? I recall talking with a guy who was operating a relatively popular imageboard and asking him similar question. He told me that websockets and javascript-based frontends aren't popular due to security concerns. Is this the case? Would you avoid a modern, reactive technologies based imageboards due to this?
>new generation
Fag, we still in same imageboard since 2003.
shameless self-bump out of interest
We come to image and text boards to get away from cancer like that, anon.
You come across an interesting course and want to enroll it, only to find out that pic related teaches it.
What do you do?

Good thing you learned beforehand. Check and see if anybody else has taught it in the past and if so wait a term for that class.

Where should i store my precious downloads if i want to preserve them long term?
I'm considering a 2.5 or 3.5 external HDD that will be powered on/off very scarcely (once in 6 months for example)
Does it sound good? Is 2.5 or 3.5 preferable?
>>57159444
Tapes, also
>Preserve downloads
Why? If you downloaded it once you could download it twice.
>>57159444
If you want to store long term tape is the answer.
Hard drives specially unplugged ones degrade from time.
SSD's have the same problem the longer they are turned off the more probably it is that the drives get data corruption.
Tape doesn't share this problem to the same tier of its counterparts.

What does nintendo have to do with it?
VERY interesting, and it looks well thought out. I love that they're focusing on local multiplayer and on-the-go gaming, nobody does that better than Nintendo. They're finally playing to their strengths.
so i guess this is HW

It just proves there is no perfect alternative. Choosing between Windows and GNU/Linux is like choosing to shoot yourself in the ass and choosing to shoot yourself in the head, respectively.

someone gave me one of these.. is there anything cool I can do with it?
>>57159296
no, not really, you can do useless stuff like led controllers, motor controllers or a simple "robot"

Smart key chain.
Wire your house for infrared/Bluetooth/RF and control everything from your key chain.

help, /g/
so I bought an asus zenpower ultra power bank. the LED indicators doesn't seem to be working properly. I've been charging for 6+ hours and it's still on the first dot. I know that it charged fully, because I used it to charge so many stuff to drain test it. is there a way to fix the led indicators?
bump
i also know that the our led dots are working since it flashes for a few seconds when I just press the power button 3 times
shameless self bump
>>57159281
Most likely it's led controller board that is faulty, you might try opening that and checking out the led contacts/leds themselves but I don't think it'd be the leds that are broken in this use scenario. Returning it would be less hassle.
/g/ i just want to ask. Is it acceptable to pay $30 for 24Gb limited data per month?
No, my fellow SU fan

In America, you make $50 but what can you buy with $50?
In India, $50 IS A LOT.
