Heat is just energy right? So why can't we capture some of that energy as it is released from the components in the PC and reuse it? I'm not saying it will become a perpetuum mobile but wouldn't it at least get a bit more efficient?

I've just created a new xorg.conf file (for the screen tearing on my Thinkpad x220) and rebooted.
This screen shows up, and when I press CTRL + ALT + F2 no new terminal shows up. How can I enter my system? I don't know what to do.
