I have custom designed a flash drive that's shaped like a semi truck that beeps like reverse lights on a truck when you "back up" data to it
Is anyone interested in seeing it

I am highly intrigued.

Does Barneyfag post on /g/ too?
Used arch-anywhere, grub didn't install, and i can't boot into the partition. i'm out of ideas and need some help.
>>57194740
k. keep us posted.
Install Gen2.
>>57194740
boot back into your live cd, chroot into the arch partition, and follow the arch wiki guide on installing grub.
Hi /g/ I've recently had my house raided by dindus and well long story short had to install an alarm system. The provider gave me an NVR for the cameras. M-2 BOX $50 at Alibaba when I last checked (Fully aware its garbage but well its "free") anyway . I've recently seen the UART or TTL to USB threads and decided to give this a try since im clueless and you /g/entoomen seem pretty savy about it.
My goal is to extract the firmware or access the console in order to change the root password. I've been trying to crack it since telnet is open but not even the "rockyou.txt" dictionary seems to have a go at it. Now I've attached a picture of the board to confirm if the holes to the right are the correct ones to attach pins into. I'll appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction here or at least supply me with some reading. Thanks.
>>57194735
Can you take a picture that's less blurry and has better lighting?
>>57194862
Sure things sorry for that my camera was out of battery ill take it apart again I really need to root this since im sure it has botnet allover it.

Hey guys, i need some advice. I got a client who wants me todo a website. It needs user registration, the user should upload files so the admin can see them and there needs to be a payment sytem. I only know some css/html and i google alot of things. Should I hire a real programmer or google my way throu with wordpress?
>>57194590
how does one get clients when you have no idea what you're doing
I do graphic design and made a few small websites
>>57194625
im trying to build a pc for video and photography editing on a budget, what do you guys think of this setup..
Intel I7-5820K 3.3 GHz SKT 2011_V3
GIGABYTE NVIDIA GT730 2GB DDR3
RAM DDR4 2x16GB 2400 MHz CL15 DIMM HyperX FURY Black
CORSAIR 600W Builder Series CX 80 Bronze
Motherboard MSI Z170A GAM PR CAR LGA1151
Cooler Agua COOLER MASTER Seidon 120V
what do you think of it, what would you change,,?
>>57194577
Better GPU and better PSU
A GT730 struggles to get 30fps in 1080p Minecraft.
Corsair builder series are budget and should not be used for a workstation.
Get a proper workstation card and a quality PSU like an EVGA Supernova series or a Seasonic platinum rated PSU
As for a GPU, look for Quadro K6000's or maybe a FirePro 7000 if you got the dosh
Save up for good components if you're doing important work
DEFINITELY get an ssd
get an APU/cpu with good igpu
16gb ram would be more than enough
use a 400W or even 300W psu and a cheap motherboard
spend rest of the money on a good monitor
>>57194577
>video and photography
Basically any PC capable of running Windows.
http://www.logicalincrements.com/
>you dont need dedicated GPU
>you dont need RAM with a name on it
>you dont need extra cooler for CPU
>you need a lot of HDD space if you really do video editing
>you might consider a lot of RAM -> ramdisk -> the fastest video editing you will ever do
>you need high resolution monitor / double combo so all the UI of video editing software can be visible without scrolling
How do you people put up with this shit?
Goal: Set up a dedicated box for radio studio control
T-5D: Download Rivendell, literally the only thing that does what I need
Oh, it wants a version of QT that Ubuntu randomly decided to stop packaging. That's okay, I can just go to their website and download the package myself.
So I download it, dpkg it, oh, need more dependencies.
Okay, so about 2 hours of doing manual dependency resolution because of Canonical's OCD, I finally have all the packages I need. ./configure aaaand...
Nope, still not finding QT. Turns out, I need a very specific version of QT 3. Erase all that shit I downloaded and do it again.
2 more hours pass.
Finally have the right packages. ./configure
Wait for an hour or so for the compile to finish. OPEN SOURCE IS AWESOME. I FEEL SO FREE.
Compile is done. Go dig around for a bunch of conf files, most of which weren't actually created yet (++ discoverability guise) so I can set up this fucking package and the fucking audio.
Meanwhile, on my Windows stream box, go to JACK's website, download the EXE, run it, and I'm fucking done.
Meanwhile, back on the Linux box, smack my head as I realize that the first time I compiled this fucking thing, I forgot to grab the JACK dev libraries. It can't see the audio interface I need to send sound from the studio machine to the stream machine. Fuck.
Download jack dev libraries, manually erase all of the rivendell stuff because fuck easy uninstallation, and start compiling again. Pic related.
Okay, let's get the sound working. Set JACK to net mode on the linux box, daemon mode on the windows stream box. Start the windows daemon.. it runs. Start the linux daemon.. pic related.
Every fucking step of this fucking process is like walking into a rake on the ground and getting smacked in the face. How do you people deal with this? Do you just tell yourselves AT LEAST IT WAS FREEEEEE?
>>57194477
IT GETS BETTER
THE COMPILE FAILED EVEN THOUGH THE CONFIG SCRIPT FOUND IT
AHAHA WHY IS LINUX SOFTWARE SO SHIT
>not using Arch or Gentoo
There's your problem
yeah you should have read the Debian documentation and learned that you can install it with just typing a single line. since you posted this I installed it to test if it works and mine is working better than what you have achieved in 4 hours. the perks of not being an idiot.
why is windows 10 so bad, genuine question
>>57194450
spyware and adware os

Other than that, it's fine.

I see these threads all the time about "oh yeah my 100TB serber" and people with 10TB of storage in their desktop. What are you guys honestly storing? I have at the most 2TB, and that's pushing it.
>inb4 porn
porn
Storage space is pretty cheap. Would you really want to limit yourself if not doing so didn't take much more money/effort?
>>57194351
Me personally? I only have 6TB and a 2TB server, stores movies and TV Shows. and the 6TB games are for muh games.

What is /g/s paid VPN service of choice and what are it's pros and cons in comparison to competitors?
I understand this question is most likely asked quite often, but i'd rather inquire here than somewhere else. Yes, I understand there is an article on VPN services in the wiki, but I would like to hear personal opinions.
>>57194315
just pay for a VPS or dedicated server and make your own vpn faggot
>>57194433
Im too much of a lazy normie. I just want to know who will rip me of the least.
if you live in burgerlands go for pia
rest of the world go for airvpn
Does uBlock Origin make a tracking protection addon (like pic related) redundant? Or do I still need one running alongside?
I'm tired of using a separate browser for porn (lel). And tired of using Private Browsing every time I need to fap, because then I need to go into settings in all the search engines to take off the adult filter, etc. No one else uses my computer, so I don't care about history. BUT...I don't want the other sites I'm logged into (e.g. Amazon, Ebay) tracking my porn tastes.
So should I use one in conjunction with uBlock Origin? And if so, which one?
use firefox and create 2 profiles
press win+R
and search for firefox.exe -P
then create two profiles
like one for Porn and one Buissnes
every time you start firefox it asks you if you want to watch porn or do Amazon
>>57194291
If you don't use a VPN your ISP and other parties can easily see which kind of degenerate porn you are watching.
just use an incognito window ya fuckin retard

Alright got a new MSI RX 470, works fine and all but at random when I click (like maybe once a day) the screen will flicker then its back, the drivers use to crash like crazy until i uninstalled the MSI app thing.
The thing is I am running a pretty old TV (6years old?) via HDMI 1080p 60hz , Is it my TV or my new card, my old card (r9 270 never did this)
Because reasons i need to defrag my MicroSD, any program will do right?
Defraggler for example.

I'm going to be doing a lot of typing, so I figured Blues were the best.
C# vs C++
which is better?
C++ with extern c.
C with classes
MASM
Why does this exist?
Because sometimes you need to run DOS on modern hardware
Because 10-15 years ago there was a surprisingly large amount of MS-DOS software still around. Dell and HP had PC's sold with FreeDOS for a time.
But now we have DOSBox that can do much better more conveniently, and offices have caught up, so it's just a relic of the past.
Could have been interesting if they gave it a few genuinely modern touches though, like not needing a separate boot disc.

But also because of FUCK YOU, I like to have an OS that is both GNU and DOS.
