/g/ humor thread anyone?
Does sombody still use Win XP?
Probably the shittiest OS ever made.
>>57293145
I do. I use an XP VM on Linux host
I have XP Professional on my garage computer, since windows 7 would be too bloated for that PC. it even receives security updates since I applied the POSReady 2009 registry hack.

How can I create a program that will talk to me with input I give it, so no AI?
Or is there such a program already?
# Echo program
while True:
try:
input = input('? ')
print(input)
except EOFError:
print('No input, try again')

I'm not sure to understand what you're looking for but try "chatter bot api" on google.
>>57293461
Looking to create my own program that will chat with me by saying lines I tell it to say.
Unless it already exists.
I'm gonna get a laptop for my mum for basic use, I want a long battery life.

So
I have previously had a MBP which is now dead and a desktop.
I want to buy a new laptop that will mainly be used for development maybe a tiny bit of photoshop and can be hooked up to an external monitor.
I was waiting on the new Macbook Pros but after the ridiculous price hike in the UK and the fact that the only think they added was that gimmick touch bar I'm out.
I'm considering the XPS 13 Kaby Lake, however I have a some reservations:
Does anyone here do development work on a 13 inch laptop? If so is it practical?
Will an XPS hook up to an external monitor fine with no performance issues?
Is FHD 1080p fine or is QHD touch actually good on a 13 inch laptop?
Windows vs the Ubuntu developer addition?
Any other machines that can compete with the XPS?
Also 13 inch vs 15?
Come on /g/ you weren't always this dead.
>>57292593
No idea about the kaby lake xps, but the skylake and broadwell ones had lots of quality control issues
Also, since it's a 13.3" screen in a 11.6" form factor the keyboard feels a bit cramped. I personally couldn't imagine doing any more work on it than typing a few lines of code.
New to Android. How do I customize this? I don't like the default look.

Bruh, get a fucking Nexus and install CM
You customize it by adding a custom ROM. Duh.

autism
I was thinking it might be fun to try and be as secure and private as possible.
Overwrite all my existing social media accounts, buy a faraday cage for my phone + have it delivered to a fake address, make one of those hats that counters CCTV cameras (pic related), use OTR for conversations, disable printer tracking, be constantly spoofing my MAC address, etc etc.
Might be cool to see how far I can take it. What do you think? Am i just being autistic?
>>57292508
>make one of those hats that counters CCTV cameras
This is a myth/scam. Such things does not exist.
>>57292508
It might be even more interesting if you log your findings and experiences. I'd read it
>>57292516
Its not complicated. You just put a whole bunch of infrared LEDs in your hat. Its invisible to people, but fucks up things that use infrared, such as CCTV cameras.
I dont see why it wouldnt work desu

How do you pirate games in Linux?
Seems like all the good games are steam only and can't be pirated.
Linux BTFO
>its a /g/ pretends they need their high-end GPU for anything other than video games episode
The same way you pirate Steam-only games for Windows.

I was promoted to lead QA/QC engineer last week. I should be happy/sort of proud of myself, but I never had so much responsibilities in my life, I feel jealousy/bitterness from my colleagues who work at the company longer than me, and I have almost no free time.
My life is basically my work now and I'm not sure if this is what I wanted for myself.
I know that /g/ is the most hardworking and disciplined board, so I wanna ask you - is this really the way to live?
>>57292289
It's one thing to be hardworking and disciplined.
It's another to have no existence outside of your work.
Think of it this way:
Do you work to live, or live to work?
I'd rather not dedicate my life towards someone else getting rich. I work what is needed to provide a comfortable lifestyle.
>>57292289
What I have understood is, that people's live is circling around passion, suffering and things you can never have.
You can't always filter these feelings.
They are all around us.
Movies, music, books.
Man is what it is.
But you can learn to cope with it, accept it and try to change yourself so it hurts less.
I am meditating every night before sleep for 10-15min and try to reflect my day and week.
It was a hard and difficult road, but I am not so hurt anymore and I have made changes in my life that bring me joy.
I hope you can attain it as well.
i thought we agreed on getting broader experience before doing stuff.

COURAGE
They're making a computer to last you into the future, not a museum piece. I'll enjoy my on-the-go charging of my phone and laptop from the same battery bank.
