Just bend them back into position with a needle or pin. Might take a couple minutes or hours, though.

I have to tell you about what I have been doing these last two past days. Buckle up kids.

I noticed that my ubuntu at home was lagging quite a few. At random times, in average every 10 sec, the mouse cursor was freezing for between 0.1 and 3 seconds. This was very annoying. I couldnt aim anything without having a lag at every cursor movement.
I noticed that it was happening more often when Chromium was open. So I opened `htop`, hoping I would spot an evil program that eats all my CPU. Well of course, Chromium was the biggest CPU consumer, no surprise. But there was no particular peak when the lag was occuring. Maybe it wasnt Chromium's fault afterall. Nothing relevant in `/var/log/xxx` either...
So I spent a few hours on forums, searching for 'ubuntu random mouse freeze'. Found couple of ideas. Most answer was about updating GPU driver. So I gave it a try. Ubuntu seems to use a homemade driver called `nouveau`, and I have the choice to switch to nvidia proprietary driver. Rebooted the computer. Still the same lag, nothing changed.
So maybe my nvidia driver version was too old. So I fetched the last version available, and attempted a manual installation. Rebooted the computer. Oops, the computer wasnt booting anymore. Cannot even get to a prompt. I just f***ed my system up...
Ok fine, fortunatelly I didnt have important data on that disk. "Fuck Ubuntu, stupid distro full of bugs". So I decided to try a Debian. It has been quite a long time since the last time I used Debian. Maybe in the meantime it got better. Ok let's install it.

After installation, I realized how old Debian is, nothing changed since last time I used it. My double monitor wasnt even recognized. "Ok, screw Debian too... Ok let's try Fedora, since it's not Debian based, maybe things will be nicer there".
New installation. Fresh computer. Shiny Fedora, it was beautiful actually. I was surprised. And... the mouse didnt lag!!!! So I decided to stick to Fedora, which seems to be compatible with all my hardware. I spend a few hours reinstalling all my useful programs. After a few hours of happy usage, the mouse...lagged... again.... O-M-G, I was pissed.
So... maybe it wasnt Ubuntu's fault, but something in my hardware that doesnt play well with any Linux.
Fair enough, let's install again Ubuntu Mate, and once installed, try to nail down the actual problem...
Ok I installed a fresh version of Ubuntu Mate. Back to my favorite distro. As expected, the lag was still here, specially when running Chromium. Chromium definitly had something to do with that lag...
So I installed Chrome instead, to see if it makes any difference. No difference, same lag.
I search just in case `ubuntu chromium lag`, and found several topics, which suggest to enable the GPU acceleration or disable the vsync in the advanced settings. Which I did, without any result.
I finally found a good lead: one of the forum member noticed that the lag only happens when running chromium in a secondary monitor, which I have. This definitly smelled like a similar case to mine! I too was running with two monitors.
I disabled the secondary screen. And... it stopped lagging !!! Fi-nal-ly, I was relieved. I spend more than 8 hours doing all that bullshit. Just for a stupid Xorg bug that cannot handle correctly the secondary screen... Ok fair enough, I will work with one screen for now, no big deal.
About 30min after, the mouse... lagged. Again. And Chromium wasnt even open. I would have jump from the window if I wasnt living on the ground floor. Seriously...
>>
Then, on a stroke of genius, I realize that my mouse is wireless, and that the receptor is in the other side of the desk. There was no freeze. Ever. Just bad wireless reception.
I think that, this very weekend, I had the bigger facepalm of my life.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but what is a good and free video editor that is easy to use? I'm using Windows 10. It doesn't have to be of great quality and I'd rather not yarr harr something, as long as it works it is good.

>Mysterious startup Magic Leap, valued at $4.5 billion, is starting to manufacture its still unannounced product, potentially for a launch next year.

>Magic Leap is one of the most mysterious and hyped startups in technology. It has raised $1.39 billion from investors including Google, Alibaba, KPCB, and Andreeseen Horowitz. Google CEO Sundar Pichai sits on its board.

>The company may attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2017, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a reputation for being tapped into the Asian consumer electronics supply chain.

>Magic Leap’s product is a pair of glasses that uses cutting-edge optics to superimpose computer graphics into the real word. Essentially, a tiny projector or laser beams light into the users’ eyes in a way that computer graphics are indistinguishable from real light.

>The prototypes currently circulating around Dania Beach, Florida, where the company is headquartered, have a smartphone-sized battery pack with computer components attached to the glasses by a wire, according to sources familiar with Magic Leap’s prototypes.

>If Magic Leap attends CES, it would make sense as an occasion to reveal its product publicly for the first time. If Magic Leap does not have a “highly finished prototype to showcase at the next CES,” Kuo thinks it is unlikely to go into mass production next year, according to a note sent to investors seen by Business Insider.

>“We attend CES every year,” a Magic Leap spokesperson told Business Insider. “So that won’t be anything new. But as you know, presenting vs. attending are two very different things.”

>Magic Leap has deals with suppliers in the United States and Asia, says Kuo, which are key steps to making the device a reality. He picks up on a Chinese language report in TechNews that says that Magic Leap has placed “million-unit orders” to a supplier.

>“Our industry survey indicates that MagicLeap’s software and form factor design have significantly improved in the past months, and the company may attend 2017 CES,” Kuo writes. “We have recently learned that Himax, Corning, TSMC, Sinbon & CCP Contact Probe are among Magic Leap’s suppliers.”

>One big unknown about Magic Leap’s product is its price. Kuo highlights the high cost of some of Magic Leap’s components, such as a micro projector from Himax that costs about $35 to $45 per unit. Magic Leap also requires “high-speed transmission of AR and MR video” that would mean the company would have to pay $10-$20 for a high-frequency connector from CCR Contact Probe, which is over 10 times more expensive than a general connector.

>In testimony from August included as part of a recent lawsuit, Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz wrote that “Magic Leap is completing its manufacturing plant for its anticipated products.”

>A Magic Leap spokesperson says its manufacturing plant is the company’s new offices in Plantation, which were announced in October 2015.

>“We just achieved a number of major product dev milestones; things are full on exciting at Magic Leap,” Abovitz tweeted earlier this week. “Heavy work still ahead of us – but the summit is in sight :-)”

% parallel
Academic tradition requires you to cite works you base your article on.
When using programs that use GNU Parallel to process data for publication
please cite:

O. Tange (2011): GNU Parallel - The Command-Line Power Tool,
;login: The USENIX Magazine, February 2011:42-47.

This helps funding further development; AND IT WON'T COST YOU A CENT.
If you pay 10000 EUR you should feel free to use GNU Parallel without citing.

To silence the citation notice: run 'parallel --citation'.

Why the fuck is this shit allowed

>>
>>57300094
It shows every single time you run it and is basically begging you to cite some faggot who did jack shit for any research I'm doing. What now, I should cite Linus Torvalds for fucking up my kernel 9 years ago? Fuck off m8. Also the smug '10000 EUR' thing, wtf is with this desperate gay.
>>
>>57300124
yeah I can see why you'd be annoyed.

tbqh I think it relies on the fact that parallel is very frequently used for research, but even then you're probably right - I've never really seen OpenMP or OpenMPI babble about attribution.

Especially the euro part.

Ok /g/, I have an iPhone SE that won't power on. It's not water damaged or locked, but the warranty is voided. I usually don't do anything beyond screen replacements at my shop but this is for a friend. Where can I find PDFs of board schematics for the newer A9 devices? I googled and only found old/incomplete stuff. I appreciate your time. Thanks in advance.

Compatability with other old stuff
Industry is still mainly XP or earlier
I have to use my thinkpad 380ED at work to debug some of the older CNC machines because it's the only thing with DS9 and dual serial ports I have around
It also requires DOS which Windows 98 has built in

I don't know OP, it's a computer, what do you do with a computer?

If you're having such a hard time finding a purpose for such a multi-purpose device then just donate it to someone who will enjoy it more than you, I'm sure there are plenty of charities that need some nice stuff for christmas giveaways and the like.

Are the young generations (I mean below ~10ish) going to have trouble learning computers and how they work?

I only ask this because I learned almost everything initially from fucking around settings and trying to fix Windows 98 issues.
Kids today probably just use IPads, which are basically toys and cover just about all the abstraction. Do they even use desktops anymore?

I could be wrong. I just figured that people learn most when things don't work and someone needs to fix it.
If windows didn't cuck me so much as a kid I would be in film school.

What do you guys think?

They're growing up with Google. Do you think they would have trouble with Snapchat and Minecraft?
Kids today have iPhone and iPads, probably going to get a Macbook when they're older. They're normies, so who cares?
