to be fair, the pc still works, and this is after 4 years of not shutting it off, being choked in dust, splashed with mountain dew and iced tea and countless power surges.
Jeez that fan is caked. Do people not clean their computer out every few months?
>Schiller's answer: Thank you for the email. It is a good question. To put more than 16GB of fast RAM into a notebook design at this time would require a memory system that consumes much more power and wouldn't be efficient enough for a notebook.

Honest question
Can you afford it? Because most of /g/ are neet fags running 5 years+ old computers with anime wallpapers, no job, and with some kind of social anxiety,
16 GB is more than enough.
I recently started playing(couldn't call it playing though) dwarf fortress on linux.
couldn't without the LNP pack but I can't find no good way or tutorial to install LNP or atleast mod and add graphics to the default latest DF.
There is just no tutorial out there for linux
Also, i have the latest version for DF downloaded
Any linux help and tutorials would be appreciated
Pic totally unrelated.

>needing grafixxDDD to play
only thing that is actually useful is dwarf therapist when you're managing a load of dwarves.
>>57320255
yeah but whenever i click play dwarf fortress on LNP dwarf therapist runs and says no running instances.
No instance actually runs on clicking it.
Also, i would like a better graphic set and quickfort mod or something
>>57320282
You have to have DF running first then tell Therapist to connect to the game at the top of the window.
Can someone explain to me the purpose of Chromebooks?
They're not as cheap as "cheap" laptops and come with a gimped OS. Why not buy a cheap laptop and install Remix OS instead?
They're perfect for dumbass normies.
>>57320119
I got one for 200 and threw linux on it
what were you thinking as far as "cheap laptops" go in that price range?
>>57320119
For normies, they're probably the easiest and most maintenance free work laptop. Also pretty good battery life.
I've never sysadmin a chromebook, but someone posted that they're a lot less stressful to maintain than OSX or Windows.
If you know what you're doing, they make nice Linux laptop. Cheap, pretty good quality, good battery life too, generally well supported with a firmware update..
why are you still using firefox?

Who is she???
looking for a decent laptop with quick swappable battery, which ive only come across one: the lenovo t440s, however it has no discreet gpu and id like to do some moderate-light gaming.
been offered a job which involves mainly sitting in the car for over 8 hours, looking for a solution to power a laptop for that long, power generators have proven too expensive so i thought i may just buy3 extra batteries but lo and behold apparently companies dont make swappable batteries anymore.
anyone have suggestions? ive also looked at the dell 7559, which has a 960m and supposedly great battery life but under gaming load ive heard someone say it only lasts an hour, anyone can say otherwise?
cheers anons.
swappable batteries are a still a thing?
Thinkpads were never meant for gaming. The best you can get are the Iris Pro models, or the ones with the NVIDIA 720m, but afaik these weren't sold in North America.
About powers, Lenovo sells a cigarette lighter charger, else you can get an inverter and use the regular power brick
>>57319916
T460p may have a gpu.
Maybe the P/W series, not sure if those are hot swappable.
