The capabilities of phones have vastly outpaced the growth of battery storage density

When I got my first smartphone I was shocked how fast the battery drains. I miss having a phone that only needs a charge twice a month, but I love having GPS and maps and shit.

/g/ doesn't really approve of most consumer laptops, we either circlejerk about used business laptops or seethe over flagships and their users

mid-range lenovos are generally fine, just don't expect thinkpad quality, googling your product, I don't like it very much, the reasons for which being
>less than full hd in a 17" screen
>only 4gb of ram for windows 10 (upgradable though)
>no SSD

What does /g/ think about IT as a career versus programming/"software engineering?" I'm currently earning my master's in MIS but I'm staring to doubt my path. I know undergrads in the CS department at my university who have offers starting at 100k+ with a 75k sign on bonus and 250k in stock options. Meanwhile I'm looking at 60-65k for a regular old IT job when I graduate.

>>
This is the list
Law if school is highbrow
SE/CS/CE
CPA/CFA if school is higbrow and or I have actual work exp.
IS/MIS/BIS/BI/DBA/ETC. if I have work exp.
>>
Protip: those 100k starting positions rarely last, plus they'll be burned out by deathmarch schedules. If you want to get bigger offers, take some training in infosec, and dig for a government gig.

If you're lucky, you'll land a 90k job with a shitload less stress the CS kids will have, plus you'll be in a field not dominated entirely by pajeets.

IT vs Computer Science degree, which should I get if I have zero interest in creating software and just want to work as an IT, I know which one sounds more appropriate, but I keep hearing CS is the way to go since it opens more doors, opinions?

IT is a job, Computer Science is academic
>>
Do you like math? Like solving discrete problems such as determining the run time of an algorithm or determining thread safety of an algorithm? Perhaps even some calculus in the case of solving recurrence relations?

Or do you like trade skills? Finding the solution by using preexisting tools and flow charts. Diagnostics and maintenance of complex infrastructure similar to a mechanic or a HVAC technician sound good to you?

Both have their place. CS majors learn more about how Red Hat's kernel works but not how to deploy it as an enterprise web server. As far as trades go, IT, from a good school and well rounded certifications, is just as useful to a company as a programmer.

Just bought a new Thinkpad.

My favorite operating system is Arch now, which I will also install on this Thinkpad. I used to be a Macfag before testing out numerous Linux distros. Before that, in my youth I only ever used Windows.

So basically, I haven't used Windows in about a decade. I'm really surprised how not shitty it is. Of course I will not use it for things where I need security, privacy, or a lot of power, but it seems ok as a substitute for Mac OS whenever I need a common, typical operating system or whatever.

Admit it, you are not special for knowing how to program. You may know a lot of programming languages, but can you dream in code?

What's your excuse for not limiting your access to this site with a web-browser addon? You don't have to block it. You can just set a certain amount of hours allowed per day. You can even combine it with other websites to help better diversify your shitposting habits.

You have ten minutes to answer this,
