I was told mpv uses less resources than mpc-hc.

So I tired it for a while , it turns out mpv used more resources. I didn't even use opengl-hq .

right now I'm using mpc-hc with evr-cp + xysubfilter. No madvr cause fuck that shit.

you need something like this baka
cat .config/mpv/mpv.conf
# Compact Disc Digital Audio
#cdda-speed=1

# Video
hwdec=auto
vo=vdpau
>>
>>57438398
First, evr-cp is an ugly shit from the twentieth century.
Second, xysubfilter is deprecated/not maintained.
Final, mpv is for people who love watching stuffs not people who prefer watching bunch of shits on their 2005 laptop like a poor nolife. ;)

Is SELinux safe to use? How likely is it that it contains a backdoor for the government?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.

Safe. Almost zero.

Hundreds if not thousands organisations and companies have been using selinux. It has had huge amount of code audits.

>Hundreds if not thousands organisations and companies have been using <X>. <X> has had huge amount of code audits.
Didn't stop the FBI from trying to get a backdoor into OpenBSD
>>
Selinux is not exactly kernel security, actually. More like privilege control stuff.

U wanna look towards PAX kernel for kernel security. Gentoo hardened project can use both selinux and pax kernel at the same time btw.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNULinux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNULinux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNULinux.

Trying to decide on a new gaming laptop. I know, get a desktop instead... But whenever I leave my barracks all electronics and anything with a cord must be secured in my locker so that's now out of the question. My budget is $1500-$1700. I'd like a 1060 or 1070 and obviously 16gb of RAM. Any suggestions for best all around choices and deals?

I've been doing a bit of research because I was convinced this new generation of "slim" gaming laptops was bridging the desktop performance gap. Turns out gaming laptops are a little better but still shit. Key factor for me was all the 120hz laptops coming out. All of these panels has a fucking problem. Alienware has banding on all there 120hz units and MSI stealth 120hz has 28ms response time though its advertised as 5ms.

Cooling is still a huge issue that will eventually leave you with a $2000 paperweight. I've heard nothing but praise about lowered temperatures but I watched multiple laptops get benched with insane temps. Low 80s on cpu don't sound good to me at all. Although GPU temps were solid at around high 60s. Really you're looking at a desktop replacement "laptop" which I don't consider a laptop in any sense.

I'm pretty salty because all I want is a fucking 120hz for casual games like osu! and counter strike on a laptop. I don't even need these newer gpus to run that shit.
