Time for you to find new friends OP
OP and his friend have autism.
Expert in the house.
I set up a home storage box using NAS4Free. It is based on FreeBSD. What I'm trying to say is, I'm a UNIX expert. If any of you weak GNU/Linux users want to ask me questions about life, feel free. I'll try to dumb it down for your tiny brains to comprehend.
>>57466067
What are your opinions on FreeBSD's page eviction algorithm compared to Linux?
>>57466067
>I'm a UNIX expert.
do you get paid for this?
not trolling, but i'd like to be able to say the same about myself
skill level is currently status: laughable
>>57467021
nope. did you catch the first part?
>in the house.
>house.
this is a very obvious joke/troll thread but ironically that is the destiny of bsdrones, self proclaimed experts who run their house IT. meanwhile, where are all the linux experts?
>businesses
because they are relevant
Greetings /g/
i recently encountered a problem while using Veracrypt (a truecrypt clone)
While copying from a veracrypt volume (4TB GUID external HDD) to another Veracrypt volume on an internal MBR Drive, the RAM would fill up at the same rate at which the files were being copied.
Once the Ram was full the transfer rate quickly fell from 120MB/s to <10MB/s.
The Ram would not clear up when the transfer was aborted or finished almost all of the free Ram would be reserved as "in use". Only dismounting the drive would free the RAM.
I expected Windows Superfetch to be the cause of the problem but disabling it had no effect.
Has anyone else encountered this Problem? It seems there are no forum posts about this to be found.
anon, no one here knows shit
Does this happen with Truecrypt?
>>57465945 havent had the opportunity to test truecrypt with the external yet. i dont think truecrypt can open veracrypt volumes(?)
will dump some stuff in the meantime
Does anyone know anything about Pioneer Receivers?
I know everything about Pioneer Receivers.
u jelly?
>>57465782
Yeah, pretty jelly.
Mine's not accepting any HDMI on the back and from what I can tell all the HDMI ports are on in the menu.
Sounds like a huge fucking meme.
Why not just get a large bluetooth speaker like everyone else?
Most of my family members have thrown their CD stereos into the trash and replaced them with bluetooth speakers.
A neighbor of mine just gave me the password to their wifi. I don't really know anything about networking, are there any dangers to this? Obviously I won't be doing any banking or things like that on their wifi, but can they snoop around or do anything harmful to my computer over a network? What's the worst that could happen?
fuck off
Use HTTPS and at worst they'll know what sites you visit, what services you use, how often, and roughly how much bandwidth you use.
>>57465736
They're Wifi demons, OP.
Once you connect to their wifi they will own you.
Be careful.
>I really love this nipple.
It makes controlling a cursor so much better.
I've only had a Thinkpad for a few weeks. I'm wondering how long a trackpoint lasts without any problems. Are there ever any issues with it after years of use?
>>57465555
wasted
>>57465555
>nipple
It's a clit.
>>57465555
Checked. But no, the trackpoints are generally pretty reliable. The rubber part may fall off if you're too rough with it, but that's easily replaceable.
Anyone know any information on this?
>>57465415
why not a 212 or an H7
>>57465418
Can you please tell me if there has been any review? Even Google can't find anything

SOME SHIT HAPPENED
What is a DAW?
Digital
Audio
Workstation
>What DAW is yours?
>How long you been on it?
>How long have you been into music?
>What genre do you play with the most?
>What Genre do you think you are best at?
>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?
Bonus points:
>Who's makes the best coffee?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>this is /g/ not /mu/ gtfo
We do not talk about the music as it is but how it's created and what we use and how to help
others get better
1 simple rule I hope you can guys do, please don't be assholes to those who
have a different perspective on another DAW, no matter what it is or how shitty
it is. I know there are some very laughable ones out there but ya know...
So please just be as helpful as you can.

Are Powerline adapters with Wifi worth it?
Have my router connected in the spare room and my TV and other shit in the livingroom at the other side of the house
Speed drops from 80Mb to around 10Mb over regular Wifi (tried 2.4GHz and 5GHz)
Would buying a Powerline adapter with Wifi make this better or should I just go for a regular Wifi booster plugged in somewhere in the middle of the house
House was build in 1970 so no fucking idea how decent this would be
Also does the Wifi function just create a new hotspot right at the adapter or is it trying to create one from the signal directly from the router to where the adapter is placed?
Powerline adapters have worked well for me, all the regular Wi-Fi boosters I've used have never worked reliably.
One thing worth checking is whether your entire house is wired up on one circuit. My parent's house was built over 200 years ago and the upstairs wiring was on a different circuit to the downstairs wiring (so the powerline adapters wouldn't work there). Although pretty much every house built within the last 50 years shouldn't have this issue.
>>57465091
Yeah mines is a flat all on the same circuit ring, recently had my entire fuse box rewired
So does it basically create a brand new Wifi signal rather than it trying to make a hotspot out of the already poor signal where the adapter will be placed?
Startpage or Searx ?
Honestly i don't know where to go ?
>>57464407
Are you retarded? Startpage doesn't respect your freedom. Use google.com instead
or duckduckgo, which has bangs?
Searx looks really nice. Is there some reason I shouldn't be using it?
