technology you bought and stopped using after a week or month of purchasing it
i wanna know what to avoid buying
Do like Debian, wait 2 years and then check if you still need it
Those dirt cheap Kindle Fires they have on sale for $30 all over the place are pretty nice if you put cfw on
>>57545070
You mean technology you can ship to my P.O. box since you have no use for it anymore?
Hey /g/, how would you build a PC with a budget of 300 Buckaroos?

You can get cheaper too by buying used.
750ti's are half a step down from the low end 460's and they're all over eBay for 50-70$
Ram can also be cheap used or you can do 4gb now and get another stick if you need 8gb
For "nigga I'm broke" mode you can get an Athlon 5350 and an ECS am1 board for like 60$ total new, with a PSU and ram you can get a lightweight shitposting/CSGO machine for like 100$
Hey /g/ what do you think: which DE suits Debian the best and why? What do you use?
>>57545057
Any DE is better without Debian.
All the DEs on Debian are in their default configuration. None of the DEs are configured for Debian.
LXDE doesn't even have a volume wheel without installing Volti and setting that up in lxsession's autostart.
The one that just werks is GNOME. That's it.
>>57545090
This, if you want pretty shit install Solus, Manjaro, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, or Ubuntu Mate.
>>57545057
I recommend Ubuntu MATE, even if i like Unity it not everyone that like it usully MATE is for everyone plus it's lighter then Unity.

In the event of PC failure I'd like to have a backup image to restore to.
My question is, if I save the image to an external SSD like pic related (which is what I own). And later on my current in use SSD dies, I would just re install windows on a new drive and use the image restore utility restoring from the backup files on the portable SSD?
Or would I use the portable SSD I saved the image to as a boot device?
I've never saved backup image before, but it makes sense to me since I'm extremely autismo about my settings and whatnot.
The backup is saved as a different file type. You can't directly boot from it but you can install windows on a different SSD and use the backup to get everything back.
>>57544987
Well I'd be making a backup image. Which to my understanding is essentially cloning the drive
>>57544987
Not OP but why would you need to reinstall windows? I thought the OS was included in the backup image
Dumpster computer anon reporting in a little for the ones curious about if this shit was enough to do the stuff 99% of people use the computer for
I got some passive cooler from another dumpster computer (some mx400 thing) and attached it to the coolerless 8400gs to make it work while I get the proper 1€ one from aliexpress
1080p BD chink cartoons at 24fps without any frame drops
GPU never went up to 70 but this cooler is just near it, not even attached and no thermal paste opr anything
CPU use was just 45% and the temps are awesome because this fucking thing have some hueg fuck CPU cooler that might be more expensive than the fucking computer itself, god knows why

What can you tell me about this passive cooler?
The UK has just passed a law making it legal for security services to hack into your devices and view pretty much everything you do online, and forces ISPs to keep a comprehensive 12 month history of every site you visit, every app and software update you download, every message you send etc

Hey /g/,
I'm trying to find a Christmas gift to give to my brother, and I was thinking of getting him a pair of computer glasses. It looks like they'd be around $200 for the prescription version.
Does anybody own computer glasses, gunnars or otherwise? Are they worth the money?
>>57544700

f = (b+d)/x
g = 100*(f/(f+e))
