Hey, /g/. I'm looking to install a new os as my daily driver but I don't know what os I should use.

I was looking at arch but i'm intimidated by the learning curve.
But the AUR sounds really nice.

Another option was ubuntu minimal which i'm much more familiar with.

OSx is a possibility too considering my laptop has fairly good compatibility (hp 2170p)

No matter what os i choose, i will be dual booting windows 8.1 for some light gaymen with friends.

What are your guys' recommendations?

I feel i should mention that my over all experience with linux is very minimal. The most complicated thing i've done is grabbed xinit and alsa-utils from the ubuntu repos when i did ubuntu minimal.
>>
Arch is needlessly complex honestly. My choice for a minimal distro is just standard Debian, as it comes pretty empty. Very little config required, but you can still tweak it as you like.
>>
>>57560082
Debian, huh? I'll take a look at it. Thanks anon

I don't like this "fake news filtering" bullshit one bit, anons. The private sector is embracing a Ministry of Truth approach to keeping people in political echo chambers. Media companies will consolidate their status to become bigger. Small sites will be silenced at will -- Internet neutrality is under the largest threat by this. I do not know what Trump has in store for NSA/Five Eyes strategy, but the big internet companies are in bed with the media and the truth will be whatever they deem correct.

Stay woke. Discuss secure/alternative social platforms and crypto.

Google and Facebook aren't the government. If you don't like them, stop using their products. If people think that they are censoring the truth, they will go elsewhere to get news.

Where? Most of the developed world has large data caps or none at all
>torrenting is dying
TPB is still around despite countless efforts to kill it
>4chan is close to being gone
Maybe in the future, but it's still here and still growing especially after all the traffic /pol/ brought in after the election
>more spying than ever
This is true but not unexpected. There are thousands of VPN options and other methods
>bombarded with ads everywhere
Adblock nigger
>everything collects your data
You can limit data collection with some research

Hey guys, can anyone help me out? I want to know if this is a good PC to buy. Getting it used off Kijiji for $420 CAD (310 USD). Is it good, is it worth, and can it play GTAV?

i7 2600K CPU 3.8Ghz
Intel H67BL Motherboard
8GB DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
Sapphire Radeon HD 7770
1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM Hard drive
Seasonic 350W PSU 80+ Rated
MATX case with a DVD drive and a SD card reader

You would be better off putting that money towards building a new system.

If you bought that you would need to upgrade the video card, which would require an upgraded psu as well. At that point you've already spent more money than it's worth for a used 2600k build. Plus it looms like a shit case, has the stock cpu cooler, ect.
>>
>>57559459
Agreed.

If you want to run GTAV comfortably with no hassle you'll need more than 8 GB's, I'd recommend building your own system. Get a 1060, i5 3.2ghz 6500, 16gb of ram, and a 550W or higher. Just fill that in with a cheap case, and a relatively cheap mobo and you'll be set : ) (Also if you care about speed get an SSD and a cheap HDD, or just get a standard 1TB HDD)
>>
OP it's not a bad price but here is the thing. You will need to buy a new PSU (600W or better) and a new graphics card (1060/rx480 or better) and possibly more ram to make it worthwhile. The question you have to ask yourself is is it worth it to put an extra 300 ish USD into the system or would you be better off building a new system? I firmly believe that a new system would be in your best interest as it means you will have access to parts and new technology that aren't 5 years old like the 2600k. Also for the love of God PLEASE buy an SSD for your next computer you will thank me later.

So, I got a raspberry pi 3 for my birthday and decided I'd use it as an audio player with a nice and easy web ui.
RPi3 has bluetooth, so I'd figure I'd just plug it in and connect it to my harman/cuckdon bluetooth only speaker.
Turns out this shit is beyond impossible.
What are some other nice uses for the RPi 3? Or are there any other nice audio players that I can connect through a phone or anything and play spotify through?

Why can't we generate large files from a torrent hash? Surely this would work as the hash wouldn't match up if the data wasn't correct.
