The "pro" stands for professionals who are going to use this with Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, etc, who are going to get shit done because nothing you said effects them and in fact the touchbar thing is meant to help them. Whne you open up about damn shit that only concerns your anime and 4chan habits it's going to be pretty obvious that you don't have the capability to put yourself in anyone else's shoes.

Interestingly (not really) I just switched from a U2414H to a 144Hz 1440p monitor (an Asus MG279Q). I really wasn't convinced that the upgrade was going to be particularly amazing, but I was wrong desu. I plugged my U2414H back in yesterday and found that it's really hard to go back. The extra desktop real estate is very nice, as is the extra smoothness from the higher framerate. Games aren't THAT much more demanding at 1440p in performance terms, though obviously you won't be getting close to 144fps in modern titles (even with the 1070 I have).
The U2414H is a solid monitor and I liked it well enough for the two years I owned it, though it has some DisplayPort issues. I'd recommend at least trying a 27" 1440p monitor though and see how you like it. For me it's revived my flagging interest in playing games. If you buy one from Amazon right now, you have until January 31st to send it back.

How stupid would it be to get a laptop that's 3+ years old? I keep seeing disclaimers on lists (CNET) saying "we never recommend buying a laptop more than two years old" with no further explanation. Will a newer, entry-level laptop always be better than an older, high-end laptop (assuming they're the same price)?
I'm trying to get basically a chromebook without chrome OS and a lot of the old high-end ultrabooks seem affordable (Newegg has refurbished Zenbooks from 2012 for around $400). Should I avoid these laptops just because they're old?

It's hard to get better drivers than what's in BSD, with the exception of video & audio drivers. The issue BSD has is generally NOT quality, it's quantity. Your favorite hardware might not have drivers in BSD. Porting one from Linux is probably not going to be the way to solve that problem either.

I'm not sure if this is the right board to ask, but I have an idea for a simple website. Only problem is I know fuck all about coding, website building, etc. The idea is just to have written short stories accompanied by a humorous MS paint image depicting the account. You can switch from one story to the next and I'd like there to be an archive where you can find past stories. I'd also like to feature ads on the site to collect some extra money.
I'm pretty damn broke so shelling out $1,000+ is out of the picture. Is there any way to accomplish what I want and preferably for free? All I want is a home page, a way to skip from one story/illustration to the next, and some form of archive. Can this be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
