So I just got a fucking smartphone (chink Redmi 3s, as recommended by /g/) and EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING whether it be music, videos, or pictures is like "WOULD YOU LIKE TO SYNC????" or "Would you like to back that up on the cloud? :^)" and I don't even know what they are syncing to or pulling this shit from. I mean I literally just opened "Pictures" and suddenly some pictures of a tiger appeared when this isn't locally stored on my phone, but google has it as tied to my google account.
Oh and it turns out there's two picture apps, two music apps, etc from both Google and the local MIUI or whatever. "Mi Cloud" asks me if I want to back up app data, phone data, contacts, and then google also asks all the same things. I thought fones were supposed to simple but I'm just constantly looking through a bunch of sync settings and I don't even know what they are fucking talking about.

So...who here is FOR encryption licensing? Just like with guns, you'd have have a background check performed on you, and get approved in order to use it. Sounds like a good deal to me - people who do nothing wrong will get their encryption, and people who don't (or use it illegally) will get punished. A way to keep the normal citizens secure and safe, and the people with criminal backgrounds (or suspected criminals) vulnerable.
Encryption is definitely not only for pedos - but they use it the most! So let's switch everything around, shall we?

Linux is decent since it's simple and lightweight but it doesn't have any software support, Windows is Windows and doesn't even have things like proper Bluetooth support in [current year], MacOS is the best overall but Apple will gladly take a shit on your plate and watch you eat it just because they can and the new Macbook Pros are overpriced for the specs you're getting.
I have to dual boot Linux and Windows to have an even remotably useable machine since Windows 10 runs worse than it has any right to do unless you have top of the line specs.
Did Microsofts Apple-like approach pay off with the Surface line? Does Windows 10 run better on Surface than it does on other laptops? What laptops are even worth buying nowadays?

Got my hands on a book that I want to scan and OCR for easy distribution (no scans/ebooks available online, and the actual book is rare as fuck). I never had the need to do this before so I am ignorant on this subject.
Should my scanner be set to a certain DPI?
Is there dedicated OCR software for this?

Acquiring the images is easy. Photographing the pages is far more convenient than scanning.
The real problems start with OCR. It sucks sometimes and you will have to prove read and format the whole thing.
