Because no one is making it. Hardly anyone makes anything these days.
There used to be millions and millions and millions of teenagers and college students sitting around making these sorts of nifty things you could download to make your computer a little bit cooler. No longer. They have grown up and moved on, and none are coming along to take their place because desktop PCs are dying and the kids just play with their phones now. And those phones are walled gardens with limited access to this sort of tinkering.

Hey /g/. I am planning to build an Android app. Basically, it should display certain data with images from a database, have user log in, add to basket option.
What language/tools i should use for this? Was thinking about Xamarin, bad or good choice?

I am not him but I have used xamarin for large projects.
Xamarin is not really the best, there are a lot of weird bugs and caveats to it. If you really absolutely hate java then sure try it. But I would recommend to use java.
Android java community is also much much larger and you'll readily have more experience and answers to problems at your disposal. Xamarin community and forum sucks in comparison. If you need to do stuff that's not something in their tutorials, you'll have to dig through their example projects or read their API, which isn't that well documented when you get deeper into it.
If you want to get started fast, use Java.
