Yes, there are entire legions of "educated" young people who went to "design" schools and jack off to kinetic typography blogs and design quarterly magazines and use pretentious terminology to refer to design elements that nobody gives 2 fucks about.
An ideal "UX designer" would know how to implement their designs in software or in typesetting so they could be more than just an "ideas person", but this is almost never the case.

So what do I do without a whatcd account? I download music because I don't want to waste bandwidth or wait for buffering or deal with a spotty signal while traveling. I have no interest in spotify etc.

Is waffles still around? I might have an account with them. I'm surprised wcd went down--I thought it was going to be around forever. wew

Name an actual reason you haven't switched to Linux yet:

>Printer/scanner support is horrible

Other than that Linux has definately improved since I tried it on '13.

Lack of games is not an issue and LibreOffice is actually fine. Driver support is surprisingly decent. (Just try BSD and you'll know)..

I liked how WiFi and Graphics worked ootb. I didn't have to configure ALSA this time. Skype works fine, And I used viber with no issues. I liked Appimages - made a few images for myself as well.

For general programming Geany is great! If I were a ""hardcore"" programmer I'd still use Geany.

VLC works fine although I used SMPlayer and it performed better over network connections.

The themes and icons look gorgeous and honestly, the default windows fonts are horrible compared to Linux's.

As of now I am going back to windows 8.1 until it reaches the end of support. I hope Linux keeps improving for the remaining 3 years and I'll switch completely!

>inb4 windows 10
I like having control over my OS and Windows 10 intentionally likes to prevent it.

Thanks for reading my blog.

It is turning Linux into something else, and fundamentally more similar to Windows. It was forced into the main distros by means of politics and deception rather than on technical merits. This is already bad enough, but it's nowhere the complete list of everything that's wrong with it. Too bad that Linus Torvalds didn't stand against it, he might have have prevented systemd's proliferation, but turned a blind eye instead.

Alright /g/ I currently have a 970, is it worth it upgrading to 4k and a 1080 for black friday? I should have around 700$ free cash and be able to get a 1000$ if I take some extra shifts at work

Or should I get a lower card and a 144hz widescreen?

Honestly dont buy a 1080 right now wait for the 1080ti and get that or because the 1080 will price drop. And personally Id get a 1440p 144hz Gsync monitor 4k is overrated.

Hey /g/. I was hoping you could give me some advice.
A years ago, I bought a macbook pro retina 2015 on a whim, but now i'm looking back on it and regretting it. All I need the laptop for is basic art college shit (photoshop and the likes) and web stuff.

I would be selling my macbook afterwards so I can finish building my desktop.

>Browsing numerous websites with AdBlock, all cookies disabled
>Randomly redirects mid-read to shitty scareware phishing site.
>Occurs on multiple site, not just one
>Run malware scans, fresh install Win7, no improvement
>Android phone also on the fritz with FlameyCat and Google Crum browsers

What is causing these redirect, and would it be possible for a person to write some code to counteract it? I would learn the necessary language to solve this problem, and post results for free if I achieved success. Just need some initial guidance.

I took introductory courses at uni. on Java, C(++), JS, VB, and a few others more sparingly. I like to code, and I now have a drive to progress further. Help me so I can help you!

>>

>Are non-4k monitors obsolete?
No, they'll still be relevant for another few years.

>Should i buy one?
Nah. Not enough 4K content and there is no GPU out there that can handle max settings 4K gaming at 60+ FPS.

>I only have a normal monitor and considering buying one more
Spend that money on something else like an SSD or GPU upgrade.

so i was wondering
in what possible ways could we usefuly use the power to control gravity
like, once being able to make artificial gravity, we would be able to build space stations as we like, just like interstellar, but what else

do you mean creating gravity?
or being able to manipulate it?
kind of like floating or making things weigh whatever you wish.
>>

>in what possible ways could we usefuly use the power to control gravity

We could use it to create apparent faster than light travel and explore the universe.

Unfortunately for science fiction nerds I'd bet my life that there is nothing much interesting out there. You'd probably meet a few aliums, realize that sentient life as a whole is rather boring and wonder why you wasted your time traveling the universe when you could've been shitposting on /g/ about the latest graphic card.

I work for a online marketplace for fairly high-priced domestic items. It is not a position that requires a particular high technical skill. The vetting consisted of 2 interviews. At the end of the second interview I was offered the job.
On my first day there I could have walked out with all customer information. Names, adresses, e-mails, phone numbers. Not some oversight I'd have to exploit either. The company knows everybody working there can see and export all of it and they don't care because it's more convenient that way. Also, a full order history. I'm glad they don't do their own payment processing at least.
Be careful about what information you give out. Always.

Yeah man I started as a janitor in a hospital without even an interview because I am outsourced. On the first day there I could have gone to the room where they keep the babies and murdered them all with a knife, then I could have walked to the waiting room an muslimed myself with a hand grenade. Don't go to hospitals. Never.
