If I decide to bump it up to an i7, will I have to upgrade anything else? I was thinking maybe a better HSF? I'm not big into overclocking personally.

Looking to upgrade from i7 x980 and r9 290 tri x going for 1440p gaming.
How does i7-6800k + a 1070 sound? Need good CPU for playing games like squad and total war. Mini itx.
Hi again /pcbg/, is this build acceptable for for very light 1080p gaming (MMORPGs), photo-editing, watching movies, and browsing the web?

Should I consider downgrading the GPU to save money, since I'm a poorfag and I'm coming from a mobile GPU (750M) i.e. virtually anything would be a massive upgrade?
If you had to choose between this monitor
>https://www.amazon.com/Asus-VX248H-24-Inch-1920x1080-Monitor/dp/B00GMGHCVG
or this monitor
>https://www.amazon.com/Acer-R240HY-bidx-23-8-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B0148NNKTC
which would you choose and why?
If you wouldn't choose either, due to brand, ppi, panel type etc., could you specify why?
For better prices, should I wait for Cyber Monday/Black Friday, or go ahead and purchase the main parts now?
I'm considering waiting until those days to buy a monitor and keyboard, but beyond that I'm leaning towards just outright buying the parts I already know I want/need.

Kek has spoken
is it good for a main device
I'll probably get one after they upgrade to Nvidia's 1000 level graphics card, and once they move to 7th generation Intel i7.
It's lightweight I think, which is nice for a cs uni student (can't use a tower pc in college easily), so it'll probably be my main driver
>10-bit HEVC and VP9 HW decoding

>can use USB and wifi at the same time

Absolutely disgusting. Get the macbook pro 2016 poorfag.

I'm planning on getting one of these
It's a fat chance, but I figured I'll see if there's any deals on BF or CM
I'm going to get the cheapest configuration that has the 4k screen. I think it's $1600
Post homescreens!
Also what's the name of the application that renders boxes around apps and widgets on your homescreen?

Russia has commercial trucks already blended in all over various countries capable of destroying areas the size of France or Texas with just a single bomb.

Don't see why they need to be part of the foundation when they already made the best Linux distribution (the WSL) without being part.

Why shouldn't I use Arch? Will I be heavily limited in packages or other stuff compared to debian/ubuntu?
First linux but I don't necessarily mind some learning curve since I am not full retard, just new.
>>57657814
Actually arch is one of the distros with most software, because of the AUR. You need to compile them, though. Still, official repositories aren't bad.
My old laptop died after 4-5 years of use, and now I need a new one. Which laptops are good for school + daily browsing use(not hardcore games)?
I dont exactly need the highest performing laptop if a cheaper one does the trick, but im currently thinking about getting the surface book. Would it be worth the $1240+? Can any of you recommend any laptops?
>>57655953
Buy a second hand ThinkPad. Get one of the "convertible" models if you're leaning towards a Surface.
>>57655953
If it is just simple word processing, browsing, and maybe light programming then I can recommend looking into chromebooks. They are cheap and come in many configurations. Also you can install linux alongside chrome os or completely overwrite it if you want. If you need windows applications for school then get a lightly used or refurb laptop with windows.
>>57656028
Would any Desktop be more powerful than the surface book? I just saw the price of a chromebook, and what I think is a $400 desktop, and would rather buy both and still save instead of the surface book.
The thing is, any laptop I buy would bascially be used for everything, since I dont own a desktop, and im not sure if the chromebook is enough on its own.
What did you get /g/?
