Are SSDs just a meme? Why would I pay twice as much for a quarter the capacity and a whole 10 seconds less of boot time?
I recently bought it for the first time and it it well worth it. It made my laptop smooth and super fast way more than more ram or a better cpu does. It's well worth the money.

Yes. Only a complete and utter retard would buy one.

>>57710099
Not as of yet, runs everything just the way I like it right now, maybe in a couple of years when it starts to show its age I might though. Next step will be getting a 1440p monitor, the gtx1080 is massive overkill for 1080p lol.
How about you?
What's the best way to secretly sabotage someone's computer? I know a bit about computers, I've built one myself, but what would be the best means by which to permenantly break a computer.
My little brother is addicted to computer games and talking online with his friends. Since we have thin walls, my brothers late night chats keep me up at night. I've asked him to stop, but he doesn't. When I ask my mother to make him stop, she makes a compromise that he ends up breaking. Tonight, things got heated and my mother tried to carry away the monitor, at which point my little brother assaulted her. My mother is fairly weak willed, and I couldn't get her to press the issue further, despite her nursing a bruised face. I want to end my little brother's addiction and restore peace to my family. Please help me.
>>57709752
how about some thicker walls dude
>>57709911
Forget the walls, he needs thicker skin. Whatever it's bothering your feelings is keeping you up OP not your brother's snickering into the night. Get help
Ear plugs. Have you heard of them?
Why the wifi connectivity in Ubuntu 16.04 so buggy? I'm currently tethering from my phone but my laptop isn't even detecting the WiFi.
does your laptop has a wifi on/off switch?
the wifi drivers are installed automatically 99% of the time but maybe connect with an ethernet cable to download them manually to make sure
>>57709649
because true compatibility on all hardware is still a goal for linux which is way in the distance. Hit and miss.
Wi-fi support on 16.04 is not "buggy", it plain and simple isn't included in the distro. Either plug ethernet cable and update to 16.10 or pick completely different system.
And don't let ubuntu amateurism discourage you from linux at large. Most other distribution have wifi working right off the box.
Cat 6A or is Cat 5E enough?

Optical, so niggers can't steal your copper
why doesn't AMD have open source drivers?
or at least have drivers and users can modify and release so other people can use and can get the most out of the gpu.
this could help with their terrible drivers on linux and get rid of terrible driver performance
>>57709438
Nvidia doesn't have this problem :^)
>>57709448
This.
Get what you pay for.
They barely have the resources to write closed-source drivers, dude.
AMD is a broke-ass company.
Nvidia has all the money in the world and doesn't give two shits about open source linux drivers either.

Though, it is 2560x1440p.
If you have an AMD GPU, it's possibly a good choice for you.
By the way, if you're shilling, you are not very nice.

You guys have any success on Craigslist? I was looking for a cheap c2d $50 - 70 system to run my plex server this weekend but locally there's nothing here. There's some for that price on ebay but plus shipping is damn near $100. At that price point, I can almost build a new Celeron 1151 system and not be caged into a shitty Optiplex case. Thoughts?
>only supporting at most 2 720 transcodes
>want expandability for more hard drives down the line
>>57708785
Yeah just start over. Buying shit that old is not advisable and you are definitely paying a premium due to its scarcity. $200 gets you what you want brand new (Celeron build) and you get the satisfaction of knowing it's not going to just shit out on you for no reason anytime soon.
Is an R9 380x enough to run 3-monitor Eyefinity? I need to know before I drop another couple hundred for a 3rd monitor.

Yeah, every AMD GPU since the HD 6000 series has Eyefinity, which has 6 display controllers (including multiple DP displays using a switch or chain).
Why is Kali Linux seen as a shit distro on here? I've seen it get mostly negative responses.
Why is/was it considered a good distro for hackers and pentesters? Any better distros?
I don't use it, but I'm coming across networking resources that suggest it as a distro, so I wanted to know a bit of background and the general opinion on Kali Linux.

It's not a shit distro, it's just associated with 14 year olds thinking they are LEET HAXORZ because they successfully booted Kali and captured their first packet in wireshark. It's a solid set of tools in the networking/ security field
So is python pass-by-reference or pass-by-value?
Arguments are passed by assignment. The rationale behind this is twofold:
1. The parameter passed in is actually a reference to an object (but the reference is passed by value)
2. Some data types are mutable, but others aren't
So:
If you pass a mutable object into a method, the method gets a reference to that same object and you can mutate it to your heart's delight, but if you rebind the reference in the method, the outer scope will know nothing about it, and after you're done, the outer reference will still point at the original object.
If you pass an immutable object to a method, you still can't rebind the outer reference, and you can't even mutate the object.
