I've been looking at IP cameras for my house, and was wondering if anyone had experience with them

I have concerns that
A. the connection might not be secure, someone could hack my camera and watch me do my laundry
most of them only support WPA-2 and so the wireless function might be more of a venerability than a benefit
B. an intruder breaking the camera could stop the video being transited, depending on how regularly they back up data to an external drive
C. they may be effected by general or local power outages

is the camera quality really as good as they advertise for a 720P?
I'm really struggling to find any independent reviews or tests

Buy used Cisco ones off ebay, and use wired ethernet. They support PoE so you can backup their power from a single UPS connected to your switch.
>>
>>57747830
I was considering the cisco ones, but there are a great many new chinese cameras on Tmall and taobao
>>
>>57748283
Do you think you could ever get support for them? Do you think firmware updates would ever be issued for a no name chink camera? Do you think those chink cameras are full of tons of security issues and hard coded admin/telnet passwords? You can find Cisco 720p PTZ outdoor rated camera with built in heaters for $20 or $25. I linked someone here one about a week ago.

Now that the dust has settled what do you rate your purchases? Rate others purchases too

What I got for myself:
>5 port managed switch for 20$
>Xiaomi 1200ac AP for 27$
>2x dual port Chelsio 10G NICs for 37$
>IP cam 3.6mm 3MP for 60$
I think I did fairly well on a limited budget.

Get in here goyim!

Went to an old friends bday party a while back and some guy came into the room like he was hot shit while we searched YouTube for jammy jams. He says "hey you want linux? Its way cooler and faster than Windows" So she goes oh yea sure, so he whips out a flash drive and starts the installation, and leaves halfway through while the installation failed and crashed

Just overspend on system RAM and use software. It'll take an extra minute on boot to dump the virtual drive into RAM but you shouldn't be using that for anything other than performance-critical operations anyways.

>>Still no RAM Disk controller extension with battery and backup SSD
You dont need that, NVDIMMs have existed for years you tard. Not that you can afford them, a 8GB stick is $500.

Acard ANS-9010BA. Its not PCI-E (Sata II) but it comes with an internal battery and a CompactFlash slot to do hard backups of the contents.

They're also expensive. Cheapest one on ebay is $400, and thats without the CF card or the DIMMs.

Most of you despite all the GNU Linux, install gentoo meme advices are probably running win10, and letting Microsoft spy on you.

Also anyone with Win 7 who still updates it is also riddles with telemetry.

Some of you may not care, but most of us here I think are pretty security conscious.

So ITT we talk about removing/blocking telemetry and share tips etc.

So to start: SpyBot Anti-beacon - it claims to remove telemetry, but is it really enough, does it get it all?

>>
>>57746517
I think there's no way to disable it completely, as Microsoft themselves said it is embedded into the kernel.

Spybot helps? sure. Most of the other utilities do the same thing, so it's a matter of who you trust the most I guess...
>>
you don't
>>
>>57746517
All MS has do do is release some new patch to reenable all the spy shit. They don't even provide patch changelogs anymore so it will just be installed as part of some "cumulative update"

>Run unpatched and insecure
>Mandatory spyware
>Install loonix
pick one.
