Is there any noticeable difference in display quality between a 23.6" monitor and a 24" one for 1080p gaming?

How fucking stupid are you?

Do you think size is somehow related to quality in ANY way?

I think he's talking about how pixelated it will look due to the spreading of the pixels in the larger display

a little too small imo, and that one in particular has a garbage 1366x768 screen. 13" is small enough.

Uncomfortable.
13.3" is perfect.

Developers, what the fuck are you doing ?

I'm a former dev whose been in the director / management field for a few years now and I've been having an impossible time hiring competent devs recently because you stupid fucks are asking for impossible salaries.

Do you realize the damage you're doing to your own field when you demand $150k for mid level Drupal/PHP/Angular position ?

Are you fucks out of your minds?

I'm going to outsource work because I can't find a single competent piece of shit to just maintain a few websites.

I work with those fucks, they suck ass. I would rather have one US based dev for a team of six poos

oh boy here we go again, another money thread without saying where you live.

"$100k" in san francisco is like making $30k in a small town.

Having competent devs who arent sreet shitters is rare, you gotta pay the price.

This maker is pretty new but their laptops seem awesome. They don't look like they were designed by a men's razor company like most other high end laptops and the internals are great!

I'm going to need a laptop when I move but I need to make sure it's gonna last because I'll need it for work in another country.

Anyone out there been using one of their laptops? Is it worth the risk when I can go with a more tried and tested maker?

Same system (or roughly same specs), about 8GB RAM

Linux vs Windows vs Mac OS X

>Launch a VM and let it take almost all RAM
>Have high CPU usage
>Switch from the VM to the underlying host system
>Launch a heavy, graphical, memory hungry application like a browser
>Visit a site and let it eat memory
>Switch back to VM and do the same
>Switch back to host, etc

Linux stays responsive, the load is high but all programs run and the switching between application is instantaneous

Windows is awful, switching between applications take ages, leaving the VM is slow and the system is very unresponsive, very high disk usage too

Mac OS X is just slightly better than Windows but not by much (and it had slightly better specs). Still nowhere near as good as Linux.

Is Linux so much better in the stuff that a kernel is supposed to do?
Why proprietary OS vendors suck so hard?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I'm guessing the Linux i/o scheduler is better or something
>>
Macs are designed for no more than short (few seconds) bursts of load. Windows suffers from 20 years of backward-compatibility hacks.

A comparison to other kernel versions/configs and/or *BSD would probably be a better idea.
>>
>>57822623
Edge cases/stress tests don't occur in real world usage, therefore nobody gives a shit.

So I recently got a job as a backed Java developer for VISA. I'm making good money, but I'd really like to find something I can do on the side for a few hours after work or perhaps on weekends to make some spare cash. I am also a certified full stack web developer and don't want to lose my front end skills by only doing back end. I'm also young (26), single, and have a lot of time to start making money on stuff.

I originally got the idea because, while I was at work, I noticed I got $38 for Amazon affiliate links that I posted on an old landing page 7 months ago. Surprisingly, I still get a little bump here and there from it. I don't know if it's worth putting in the time and effort to revive it, but ideally I'm looking for ways to make money online part time.

Here's where I'm at:

> Put up a Craigslist ad in my area with some photographic samples of my work offering to do web design for local businesses.

> Emailed pornhub, youjizz, xvideos, youporn, and porntube asking them if they needed any remote work done

> Poked around on some of those freelance programming work websites. They all looked like garbage.

> Am considering reviving the affiliate page.

My question for /g/ is do you guys have any ideas? Or should I maybe just work second shift at a hotel for $9 an hour on Saturdays and Sundays?

I think intel's inability to deliver the photonic interconnect chips is probably intentional sabotage.
They didn't want a new memory standard in enterprise unless they were getting profits from it.
Funny how they bought into Micron's phase change memory and branded it as their own Xpoint.

Let's be honest, at this point, is Apple even trying anymore?

Macbook Pros took pride in their superior battery life, no one could compete, now it's just on par with shitty dells and thinkpads.

Good job Tim Cook, proud of you.
