Hey guys,
I want to buy an I7 6700k, so i looked over some of the hardware store sites in my country.
I noticed that on some sites, the product code for the I7 6700k is BX80662I76700K and one others it's BX80662I76700KSR2L0. I'm a bit confused as to what this means. Why does the second one has R2L0 attached? What's the difference? I tried googling it but could not find any info. I just want to make sure that i won't be getting an inferior product by picking either. Any help would be greatley appreciated, since i want to place the order today, and the money is burning a hole in my pocket.

They're both the same core stepping so the difference will be very minor if any, likely a small die change or similar that would require a change in the S-spec number.

They should be identical for all intents and purposes, but the SR2L0 is technically newer.
>>
Pretty sure that's the intel stock fan.

Alright, thanks anon. Its weird cause i found nothing on it online, and i looked for a couple of hours now.

I'll wait a bit more to see if anoyone has more insight, and i'll just go ahead and order it.

I also noticed that some designate 91 W or 95 W on their specs.

My brain tells me it's wattage, but some intel faq lists that as "thermal design power". Frankly, never heard of the term, are they one and the same thing? And why would two of the same cpus' require a different Wattage, number, if that's indeed the wattage.

hi /g/

anyone here every try to reball a BGA chip? i'm going to be attempting it soon with my x220. no one thinks i can solder an ivy bridge CPU into my laptop AND have it function correctly over a 10W TDP limit, FOUR cores, and EIGHT fucking threads.

Guys I fell for the 4K meme.
>hear these stories that windows 10 has reworked how apps are scaling
>buy Precision 15
>it comes with 15" 4k screen
>launch various apps
>only native microshit apps scale properly
>everywhere else its just a big fucking mess all over
I literally now run 4k screen at 1080p and enjoying every bit of it.

so is 4k scaling problems limited to windows 10? I don't intend to go less than 4k but that'll suck if I have to scale everything manually on windows 7 or windows 8.

I love Linux and I love the command line, but Linux needs GUI alternatives for stuff like changing key-bindings and some sort of task manager that isn't htop or CLI based.

There needs to be a lot more done for the egular consumer. Ubuntu is great for the advanced and the completely new that does not know what a "key binding" is. Ubuntu is far superior compared to Windows when it comes to ease of use and how intuitive it is and that sort of thing. But for the middle ground it's iffy.

Soliciting discussion of your experiences & advices with SSDs. In particular, what utilities do you use to examine & analyze your SSD, performance test, and general tips & tricks you use to get max performance and lifetime out of your SSD.

(the Sedna PCIe card is interesting, but not the primary focus of discussion today)

>general tips & tricks you use to get max [...] lifetime out of your SSD
This isn't 2005, SSD's don't need any voodoo magic anymore. Even the shitty ones will easily write 100TB's of data without too many faulty sectors. If you're using computer normally it'll last for at least a decade. You'll have to replace it due to capacity or SATA 3 bottlenecking issues before it starts to malfunction.

But if you really want to tinker with something then move your cache to another drive and limit session restore interval in Firefox.

So, the new SU800 model of ADATA SSDs seemed like a decent gamble. As far as modern SSD offerings, it's about as fast as anything on the budget end of the spectrum.

Claimed:
>Max Sequential Read
> Up to 560 ATTO
> Up to 550 Crystal Disk Mark

>Max Sequential Write
> Up to 520 ATTO
> Up to 500 Crystal Disk Mark

And the website:

Is claiming 2,000,000 hours. I figure if I get anything at or above 500 on read and over 480 write I'll be reasonably satisfied.

I didn't really buy it for those stats, though. The design feature that intrigued me seems like a near-genius implementation, if it works. The main storage of the SSD is TLC 3D NAND .... but, it's paired up with SLC & DRAM as a cache buffer. Theoretically, this should bear the brunt of the wear while stretching out the life & performance of the TLC.

Thanks. All tips welcome.

As far as the PCIe adapter, I admit it's "sort of" a toy. Thing is, it should not bottleneck an SSD, so it should not detract from performance. Although, I'd wish it was for a 4x PCIe slot rather than a 1x.

My justification here is that the Sedna card doesn't just hole the SSD. It has an extra SATA III port.

I intend to test the combo out and compare the SSD performance off a native SATA III port to performance off the card. I certainly am not expecting the card to perform better (although, that would be a really pleasant surprise). I expect there to be no detectable difference.

However, if the performance is degraded compared to a native SATA III port, I have a 1 TB WD Black notebook HDD that I can put on the card, and that will certainly operate without performance loss. The extra SATA III port on the card is intended to use with a DVD burner, or maybe a blu ray burner ... again ... once I get a chance to play a bit and see what works best.

My hope, in a semi-perfect world, is that the Sedna card will hold this SSD, connect an optical device and it will all perform at least as well as on native SATA III ports. My mobo then has 6 open SATA III ports, several of which can RAID some other HDDs I have.

Ideally, the 512 GB of this SSD will be used to install a linux of some flavor, then carve out a couple large blocks for virtual installs of Win7 and 'something else.' Not certain what yet.

I have an extra video card I could install, so if I want some legacy gaming, I can configure a pass-through from WinSomething direct to GPU. If I get that far.

Also, you can just open spotify on chrome with adblock and you will not get ads.

For the app you can block the ads servers on the host file (or hosts on Linux).

Is not rocket science.

People always love free stuff except if its fucking shit, like literal dogshit in a park

Lonix is free and it still has an irrelevant userbase after decades of its exsistence

Really makes you think

But seriously, you can make up endless bullshit reasons but linux is simply worse and less user friendly, less usable than windows

If it werent it would be the most used one because its free, but the negatives it has nullify the only positive thing it has, what is being free

Tldr linux is shit

Morning Lads

I work for a company that sells and sets up home security systems. If an intruder tries to get in or a fire starts or something like that, which triggers the alarm, the customer gets notifications per App/Email/Phone call.

Most customers don't want notifications per App, because they're old and/or don't have a smartphone. Phone calls are also not prefered, only god knows why. So most customers want to get notifications per email to a list of people.

So every security system gets and unique email adress. Only imap to send a notification, nothing else.

Now what I am looking for is a provider, that let's you register email adresses without two-factor authentification such as verification code per sms.

We recently had the problems that for example google and yahoo don't let us register any new email adresses, because we already did so dozens of times.

I told my boss to just let me set up a own email service but he said he want one of "the big providers", because it'd be safe and even if we one day would go bankrupt, the email-adresses of the security systems would stay.

Sooo .. tl;dr: Need Email service with registration w/o two-factor-authentification, which is most likely there for the next 10 years.

Any recommendations or experience with that problem?

>>
Tell your boss that he is an idiot and setup a damn mail server. Even if you want to use the "big" ones you still need to pay.
>>
>>57863621
Until now he just wanted me to register "free" ones.

When that failed he told me to use one of my VPN (wtf, fuck no). Then he told me to use my personal phonenumber for two-fac-auth (wtf!?).

He's a moron I guess .. but I have to keep the job so I have to come up with something ..
>>
Wait, why not just use one email in all systems that sends notifications to the mails of the clients, why does every system must have a seperate one.
