Need an opinion about a possible trade.

I have: a Lenovo Y50: Intel i7 4710HQ, 16Gb, GTX 860/960M, 4k IPS screen, 1tb HDD.

They have: i7 920, 12Gb RAM, 250 ssd, 1tb HDD, zotac GTX 970, and a 1080p monitor.

How well can the 920 handle gaymen? Would this be an okay trade? I miss having a desktop to fuck around with.

Hey /g/, did you know the NSA logs and stores indefinitely all Tor traffic so in 20 years when they have a working quantum computer, they can decrypt it all?

What are you getting arrested for in 20 years?
39 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
only if ur traffic goes through an nsa owned exit node. i would worry more about tor browser 0days
>>
making an ai with the goal of surviving that actually will eraise human life in the futur
>>
>>57910067
Nope, the NSA has nodes listening in on the internet backbone. They intercept all detected Tor traffic there.

If you remember, I asked for advice a while ago about quitting a shit tech job.

Right now I'm at Office Depot in the tech department while I'm doing the real work studying and working on certs.

But today I got called "a genius" for showing an old man that you can use two fingers on a trackpad to scroll. He was really excited and happy that I helped him figure something out. That felt better than all the best feelings I had pulling cable through walls, telling people with Lenovo computers that we charge to take all the bloatware off of it, or explaining to people over the phone where the 'start' button is.

Did I find my place or am I a fag who isn't far enough in my career? I didn't plan on staying here, I want to get into Linux to get away from people, but it's just a real change to have people actually care about the solutions you offer.

Also Office Depot hate thread.

consider teaching.

otherwise, also consider doing lone wolf IT work. create an LLC and put up fliers in local stores or ads in local papers.

more often than not youll help people like this and they will want to give you money and praise. then they will tell their friends and family and you will get repeat business and new customers.

its easy. just be nice, prompt, humble and honest.

if all of that is too much, then just stick to being IT for a smaller outfit. big box stores, local govt/municipal stuff/schools/etc. - interacting with users and not having a lot of oversight/managerial shit/gruntwork would be what drives the decision.

I mean like $9 something plus commission. But it's a part time job right now, I make more at my other food service job, which I don't like as much.

Do you think Apple soldering the SSD is because of threats like Louis Rossmann?
19 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>57909630
Absolutely. This menace cannot be stopped unless you solder every fucking chip to the enclosure.
>>
>>57909630
This man is my personal hero
>>
Bullshit, they're making him tones of fucking money because of this.
A data recovery place would desolder every chip and transplant it onto something else, he just fixes what's wrong with the mobo and either pulls the data off the working board or fixes the device completely.
Apple literally can't and won't do any of this.

Anyone remember this?

>For Hugo and its similar television program projects, ITE originally developed a designated, custom-built computer hardware system called the ITE 3000 that would convert telephone signals into remotely control the characters in the game and allow the interaction of the audience and the TV action without delay. The system was based on two Amiga 3000 computers plus a new audio control system MIDI sampler, the DTMF system and some other extra hardware, and reportedly costed $100,000 to make.

That shit was amazing.
>>
>>57909302
I remember this, but I also remember there was a "live action" version of this where the audience would control a variety of "RC" cars and trucks. Now that was crazy.

layered images if I remember correctly. there were tutorials for it floating around but I haven't seen them for a good 5 years or so
>>
>>57909272
You set up 2 layers, goto adjustment>levels then set up one image to be 201 minimum(hidden) whereas the other 198 maximum(apparent). Then you save it as png and use tweakpng.exe to add gamma=0.03 and save

Can I take a poll of how many NEET there are out there?

How many are employed or unemployed and job hunting?

How long have you been searching?

I don't understand why job requirements are so specific. I'm proficient with x86_64 asm, c,php,obj-c. I think it would take me at most a week to learn anything yet I can't get anyone to give me a chance. They would rather hire that ruby dev that just graduated from bootcamp.

I'm not asking for ridiculous salary either, just $30k is ok, better than working at a grocery store.

Give me some advice here bro.
I'm thinking of buying a cheap android phone so I can get into android development, is that space saturated?

What's the reason for this? H1B? I don't understand how they can hire an H1B for cheaper than $30k.

Do you have any work experience at all? Like anything including entry fast food jobs. Because is not, that's the issue. You may be more qualified but without work experience in general you're a liability.
>>
>>57909073
I've open source one of my iOS app but that was over a year ago. I don't even own a Macbook anymore, pawn that off because I was broke.

A lot of code I have written can't be open sourced. That's why I'm thinking of getting into android development so I'll have more stuff to show on github.

A lot of the asm and C jobs are ridiculous and I admit I'm not qualify for. But most programming is trivial to me at this point. They all want a guy that knows specific languages and frameworks.
>>
>>57909073
Just realized I didn't answer your question. I've never worked for a company. Mostly just freelancing and daytrading(gambling) to keep myself alive.

It boggles my mind that they would rather hire some rookie ruby dev than someone that knows x86 asm.
