Name laptop with the following requirements (not a Macbook):
* Full metal aluminium body
* Sexy thin
* Processor: i5 latest gen AND quad-core (no dual-core bullshit)
* Storage >= 500GB - ONLY SSD
* RAM: 16GB DDR4
* Resolution >= 1440p
* Runs Arch Linux flawlessly
I don't care how much it costs. I don't give a shit about graphics. Manufacturers are really missing out on a huge number of developers who'll love this configuration.

Why doesn't Windows come with a decent calculator? You either need to download some shitware or use one of those finicky, ugly (((free))) software programs. What gives?
>>57913557
It literally does though, on W10.
Calculator a shit, I agree on that one though.
1. open google.com
2. search calculator
there you go
>muh windows is bloated

So my wife has a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 from AT&T and every time she connects to our At&T U-Verse Wifi it bogs down our speed. We go from 16-18 ms ping to 900-2000 and from 18 Mbps to just barely 2. And its just her phone. We have tried with several other friends phones and devices and none of them do it. Anyone got any ideas?
>>57913400
Phone is probably uploading. Check Google Photos.
>>57913875
This. The phone is probably syncing everything to google and samshit servers.

What tech related things was /g/ up to these days?

I know that /g/ is 90% gainfully employed intelligent people larping as neets, so I'll ask this question here:
Have any of you any experiences with using a projector with a whiteboard?
It just have to look decent with Powerpoint/Keynote/Beamer/Impress and so on types of presentations. IOW, not a home cinema setup, I just want an easy to do setup for a whiteboard + projector, and getting a separate screen seems needlessly complex for the task.
So what say you /g/? What are your thoughts?
Picture is not related, we don't have any couches for anime girls to sit on in our office.
>what are your thoughts
My thoughts are that Kobato is definitely the better loli in that show
>>57913279
Next time I'll take a picture of the wall we're going to hang the whiteboard on or some shit.
They're called smart boards, anon.
Is there any way to listen to a phone call you just had?
>>57913221
Ask the NSA
Yes.
>>57913221
Two ways:
1) invent time machine and have it again
2) invent time machine, go back to before the conversation happened, install a call recorder and record the conversation
Why are Windows users so obsessed with trash bins?
I keep seeing them on desktop screenshots...
>>57913216
I think the default is to have it on your desktop, which would go a long way in explaining why you see it pretty frequently.
It's default, it's been there since 1995 for me. I like it. I was fucking mad they took out the Windows Classic theme too.
We are? News to me

Hey /g/, remember barebooks? Seemed like a pretty cool thing in 2005, where buying a laptop chassis would become similar to buying a case and motherboard for the desktop. What happened?

They were bought out and shelved in the 'vault' by a bigger corp.

Everyone who wanted this kind of computer just bought a T- or W-series thinkpad.

Show how to do it under Linux.
Bonus points if you know what you're actually doing...
>>57912874
16-bit 44.1KHz is ideal.
24-bit 48KHz is pushing it.
Anything higher is audiophile-tier, placebo, and wasted CPU cycles.
>>57912920
Forgot to mention, pretty much 99.99% of the content you will play will never be higher than 24-bit 48KHz anyway, and 75% of that is at 16-bit 44.1KHz or lower. So anything higher is pretty damn useless.
Is this too fucking hard to ask for a modular laptop?
I dont care how fucking thin it is, i want a laptop that i can upgrade if i need to, not buy a completely new machine every time....
>>57912656
Yes, same reason I'l never get a "smart" phone. If I can't modify the hardware/software without voiding warranty or breaking policy I don't need it.
>>57912656
The degisn of laptops is not that simple. The system requires great consistency.
>>57912656
Most gaming laptops are completely modular except the GPU.
So I have been using Gentoo for a while now and decided that Im getting tired of how complicated everything is to do manually and how much time I need to spend in the command line for basic things.
So im looking for a much easier to use distro that is very powerful out of the box and I was wondering if fedora is a good candidate ?
I need to be able to work with kernel virtual machines and that is initially what attracted me to fedora is that since it is what RHEL is based on naturally virtual machines should work very well without much configuration.
>>57912629
it's pretty good,
works well on pretty much all hardware, ready to be used after fresh install without needing any sorts of special packages.
>>57912697
Ive heard that it has unusually slow boot times, is that just a meme or actually true ?
>>57912629
>>57912732
I use Debian with XFCE on my laptop with an SSD and it boots just under 10s.
