How the fuck does one find a good motherboard these days?
By good I mean something that will just werk.
I'm looking through Z170 mobos and for every one there are tons of complaints on newegg about something failing.
Don't forget that Newegg and Amazon reviews are a poor sample pool. People are far more likely to make negative reviews, whereas a positive experience with a product likely won't let the person to make a review.
People are far more likely to leave a review if it didn't work than if it did perfectly, making it look far worse than it actually is. As long as it's mostly positive you should be good.
>>57978019
With the z170 especially almost all of the complaints are summed up by idiots that don't flash the bios.
Mobos failing are extremely rare.
How long would /g/ survive in Stallman-Mode?
No X or graphical display at all and only using a shitty little laptop.
Tmux, irssi, elinks, mpd, ncmpcpp, vim/nano, pine/alpine/mutt... I'd be fine.
Probably read more and watch movies and shows less.
>>57978017
Long, which is a shame.
>>57978017
>Doing 3D design
>Writing vertices' coordinates in a text editor
Naah, absolutely not.
Mine:I'm still using VGA because my monitor is old shit and has insane issues with HDMI.
I don't do cable management inside my case. If I posted in the guts general /g/oblins would have a heart attack.
I rail against privacy invasion and rant about Microsoft while using Windows 7, gmail, google search, Android with Gapps, and a Surface.
>>57977938
>>57978154
These things are fine. FINE.
What does this little faggot do on his laptop 24/7. Is he addicted to porn?
>>57977896
What do you do on your laptop 24/7 OP?
>>57977906
He's addicted to porn

Don't know if this is the right place to ask but... whatever.
I just had a major problem with my Asus and I don't know if the charger or plug-in outlet has be damaged but either one might not be working.
For awhile, when I plugged my laptop into my charger, it would make a static noise, nothing too serious, until I started my laptop up this morning and she let out static and even smoke!
Now she won't start charging with my charger in her! Any ideas what the problem could me? I'm considering ordering another charger but I dunno if that's the problem or not.
My Laptop is an Asus RoG G750JW, any ideas of what the problem could be? Or a fix perhaps?
Never had this problem with my Macbook, sorry
>>57977888
take it to apple store so they can fix it in 5 min or give you a new one..... oh wait, you bought some chinksit that you have to send to Taiwan or some shit and pay $$$ for repairs?!?!
sorry brah, you're on your own.
>she
Fuck off
Hi /g/,
I'm thinking of changing profession and get into IT, but being weak at programing I was thinking about software testing. Does any of You know about good quality, preferably free courses tha I could take in order to see if it fits me?
>>57977883
What are the minimum skills to have a chance for an entry software testing job? Do these jobs suffer from ageism like the rest of tech related jobs?
As far as I have seen it get's preety saturated so it's kind of a last call to jump in. Many entry level job offers in my region require this ISTQB certificate and basic knowlege of one programing language ie. python and that I got covered. I heard You can take an exam for ISTQB without courses so I am interested in selflearnig for now. Later usualy Your employer sends You to courses.
>>57977883
probably smart to know programming to do testing. How else are you going to make automatic test inputs and that sort of thing?
Do you think that a used Dell Vostro 3300 would be worth it for 190 euros? I've been thinking about buying a used laptop to play around with linux and stuff without the risk of messing up my main machine. The laptop has a Intel Core i3 350M processor, 6 gb of ram (ddr2 I assume) and a 500 gb hdd. The seller says that the laptop has some minor cosmetic damage, but nothing too significant. It also should have a new battery. I would of course inspect it myself before buying. Pic related is the laptop.
Do you think this would make a good secondary machine? The only thing I¨m really worried about is that it will break too soon since it's already used. Also, 190 euros might be a bit much for a laptop like that.
Also, general discussion about used computers is welcome I guess
>>57977789
No. You can get better Thinkpad for that price.
/tpg/ will help you
>>57977834
The problem is that I live in a remote area (northern Finland) and I don't like the idea of buying used without personally insprecting it for damage first, so my options are very limited.
This is another picture of the laptop, you can see that there is some damage in the corner of the laptop as the seller says
What is Mike dreaming about right now?
>>57977760
Choking Jessi to death and committing suicide.
Wrong board, fa/tv/irgin.
He's dreaming about the goofballs
What laptop HDD enclosure case should I get for my old laptop hard drive?
>250gb
Why even bother?
Uh, anything that fits?
>>57977759

IT'S HAPPENING
>>57977730
Those specs look great, what's the price point?
>no ethernet
Have you been making the effort to optimize your images before posting, fellow anons? It's getting hard for Hiro to continue supporting the site, after all.

Linux shills at full force today
>>57978533
In their defence this doesn't happen on Linux desktops because nobody really uses them.
What are some of your favorite /g/ book?
I highly recommend Code Complete.
Godel Escher Bach is also a must read
>>57977488
>>57977481
Both are overrated meme books.
International Unix Environments; Computer Security Criteria, DoD Standards; Guide to IBM PCs; The Unix Bible; Dragon Book, Compiler Design; NBA Trusted Networks.
So /g/ I just bought a kindle, so I'm interested in some weird use cases /g/ might have.
What do you use your kindle for, that isn't reading books?
VNC client
kobo and it's literally onlyvused for reading books.
why make it do another job it will be shit at?
>>57977466
I was more interested to see if anyone had done something funky with it. Mainly breaking into it or something.
