>Microsoft’s virtual assistant might soon appear in a whole lot more places – wherever there’s a screen and the ability to run Windows 10 IoT Core, the lightweight version of Windows 10 that’s designed for things like refrigerators and connected thermostats. At a recent event as detailed byMSPoweruser, Microsoft revealed that Cortana will be available to any device running that OS that also has a display, which could help the assistant reach deeper into everyone’s daily lives.

>The ability to use Cortana for these devices is coming as part of the upcomingCreators Update, the next big bump for Windows 10, which includes a number of improvements like 3D graphics creation built into Paint. Cortana’s powers will also include the ability to turn on device that are asleep when greeted by voice cues, and a new feature that enables use of voice from up to 4 meters distance – around 13 feet, or enough to easily span the average room.

>Cortana could become a competent competitor to Amazon Alexa with these new powers and these new hardware endpoints, which would help give Microsoft more of a presence in the connected home. Of all the virtual assistants out there, Cortana is still lagging its competitors including Google’s voice assistant and Siri, mostly because it lacks the reach those two have owing to their presence built-in on mobile devices in daily use at high volumes.

Which one should I consider while buying a new TV
>4k or 3D
The 4k TV I'm interested in doesn't feature 3D.
What will I miss?

3D is a meme, there's not enough content yet to justify a 4k
Why are you unhappy with your TV? would you consider getting another kind of upgrade like a 7.1 system instead?

4K was the meme of 2016

So.

I've been thinking.

Those Stirling engines, comrades. All you need to make them work is some hot areas and cold areas. And generally it's relatively easy to find areas that are constatnly have a difference in temperature.

So.

When you build your house, you insert a lot of those engines inside of the wall that gets most of the sunlight, In summer it's always less hot inside than outside, and in winter it's warmer inside. And if you live in Siberia, during winter it's... БЛЯДЬ, ИBAH, ЗABOДИ ДEЛOPИAH, У HAC 1.21 ГИГABATT, HAХУЙ!

So, where am I wrong?

In this example, you would be using the warmth from your home to power it, which doesn't really make sense. It would indeed work if you could find some geothermal source. The thing is, it doesn't just need a cold and hot area, it actively pumps heat from the hot area to the cold area.

But people wanted to install them on submarines. How would it work? Would it freeze the crew to death?

The ocean gets super hot the deeper you go because you're drifting closer to the open magma barrier. People just don't talk about it a lot because they don't want the secret getting out.

Hi /g/,

I know this is a request, but I can't deal with those cum drinking fux over at /r/- and even if I could, I wouldn't get anywhere.

I've never been interested in phones- at all. Been using the same phone for the last... 6, 7... 8 years maybe.
I just acquired an iPhone 5S though, still sealed in box.
I want to fuck about with it as much as I can- and was wondering a few things.

Does "jailbreaking" just mean getting root?

Do I NEED to put iTunes on my box?

Should I go ahead and put the sim card in- and start playing with it? OR- is there stuff I should do first? (In regards to rooting/railbreaking it)

OH YEAH! Probably important to say that I'm a BRITFAG.

Thanks in advance guys!

At the moment I can only answer one of your questions which is "Do I NEED to put iTunes on my box?" no, a friend of mine had a 5s many moons ago and he was able to get along without iTunes.
>>
>Does "jailbreaking" just mean getting root.

For all intents and purposes, yes. However, you still won't have *complete* control. You can't install a custom ROM or anything, you can install apps as you like and customize iOS much more, however;

>Do I need iTunes on my PC?

I believe the only way to get music on your iPhone would be to use iTunes, you can handle Photos with it just being plugged in. Jailbreaking may provide an alternative to this, however. It'd probably just be good to have.

>Should I start playing with my phone?

Not yet. Every update that Apple releases has some measures to try and thwart the latest Jailbreaking methods. Your best bet, if the iPhone is out of box new and is running a really old IOS version (iOS7 I believe the iphone 5s has by default), is to jailbreak immediately. If you blindly update to the latest version, you could potentially hamper your jail breaking capabilities.
>>
>>57981195
Thanks. It's probably not (such?) a big deal nowadays- but, the last apple product I had was an old clunker of an ipod,(4gb- prolly the same size as this phone!) YEARS ago- and I just remember itunes making me want to cry 'cos of how SHITE it was.

>>57981260
>still won't have *complete* control.
No? Is that a hardware issue? A pre-boot thing??
>Your best bet, if the iPhone ... is running a really old IOS version ... is to jailbreak immediately.
Cool, thanks! Where's the best place to go to find out how to do all that stuff?

Thanks again guys!

Are shop owners greedy or something? How come a lot of surveillance footage looks like it was filmed by a 90s webcam?

Storage is pretty cheap these day so capacity shouldn't be an issue. It is not like you need to store year old footage anyway.

>It is not like you need to store year old footage anyway.
Most companies do exactly that. Others for atleast 6 months.
Because if shit goes down, it may well be several months before law enforcement are able to issue you with a request for the footage. It's just good practice to store it for a while.

as for the quality, most business places don't update their CCTV unless they're doing a large refit of a store, otherwise it works just fine, and you can discern with reasonable accuracy who is who, especially with witnesses, so law enforcement don't really make pushes for local business to upgrade either.

The fact that you must ask this question implies that you either A) Don't and never have worked in retail or any sensitive environment...Or B) Are simply retarded.
>>
>>57981066
wow you're mean
>>
It only has to have enough quality to identify people which it usually has. The equipment itself is expensive and isn't replaced often, and storage is definitely a factor because companies do indeed store year old footage. I work for a small company and they have footage from the last years (since the cameras were installed).

It takes a special kind of company to see the phone market today and decide to make a phone with a 2.4 inch screen and a built in number pad, using cheap little shitty looking games as a selling point in their advertisement styled to make their phone look like an Apple product.

I'm not going to buy it, but I sure as hell won't judge anyone who does. I'm glad my nigga Nokia doesn't give a fuck what anyone thinks. I heard this shit is $26 too.

Good for you, Nokia. I hope it catches on (in a small way, I don't want this crappy, cheap pocket toy affecting the market)
>>
>>57980929
it costs literally nothing. its a good phone for older people.
ill probably buy one for my disabled father (half paralyzed), should be okay for using with one hand.

If it was 64gb of onboard storage I would own one right now.

Also it doesn't back up any videos you take.
>>
>>57980853
I agree, 64gb should be the minimum is most phones these days. 32 absolutely lowest but optional to 64gb.

Apart from that, I'd love to have one myself. I think it's not too durable though. I have heard of it breaking easily, but I'll be honest, I've never broken a phone and I work in an industrial setting and carry my phones with me everywhere (I carry a personal cell and a work provided iPhone, which I hate btw)
