europoor here
my 2y/o Oneplus One's touch screen is smashed, no response. is the Three worth it? no idea what else to get at that price
I'm currently torn between few models:
>OP3T
+plastic'y but good looks overall
+super nice OS that is about to be updated
+great screen quality
+physical silent mode control buttons
+6gigs of ram in base model
+fastest charging
-smallest screen
-smallest battery
-more expensive than mi5s plus
>Xiaomi mi5s plus
+bigger 5.7 screen
+larger battery
+cheapest
+IR blaster
-solid but boring looks (grey is my model of choice)
-OS isn't bad but not as cool as in OP3t
-some reports about shitty fingerprint scanner
-less ram in base model
>Xiaomi mi note 2
+I subjectively find silver model to be most beautiful phone ever made
+those curves
+largest battery
+5.7 screen
-most expensive, I'd have to wait for pricedrop
-silver model not in stock yet
-screen is reported to be quite shit
-specs pretty much same as mi5s plus, but price is much higher
Help me pick guys. Which would you pick given choice? Did I miss something? How stupid is it to drool over mi note 2?

Buy pic related for wait for OP4?
OnePlus is notorious for only providing one major android update to their flagships. I'm worried if this phone will become obsolete 6 months later when they release OP4. Can we expect Android 8 on this phone? Or am I better off waiting 6 months to get a OP4 which will ship with 7 out of the box and get an update to 8.
Id personally wait for the OP4, maybe they'll treat us with something nice like an sd slot
>>57960318
Considering there's a 128GB variant I doubt you'd need an SD card slot.
What do you all think about screen protectors? Waste of money or a good idea to have?
Gorilla Glass seems pretty durable but I'ma lways paranoid.
They charge ridiculous amounts for the hardware you get, other than the battery life and eye-strain
meme whats stopping me from getting a Nexus 7 for the same price as a Paperwhite and reading
books on that?
>>57956305
nothing is stopping you
consumers have the right to choose what they want to buy
>get a $20 kindle from pawn shop
>feels good not getting ripped off
>>57956305
Battery life, cost, and eye strain are the three best reasons to purchase an ereader.
Reading on an e-ink screen truly is superior to reading on anything else. If you are using one for school readings (pdfs) then they do fall behind a bit.
To your concerns about cost: simply purchase an older model. You can find old kindles, nooks, kobos, and sony ereaders for less than 50 dollars used on ebay. I personally use a sony prs-505 I got for 30 bucks on amazon marketplace 3 years ago. While my device is at the extreme end of the spectrum (2007) you can find more recent devices without much effort.
Ever since seeing how easy it is to get ahold of a list of passwords from a pc (I've done it multiple times when I'm fixing some dipshit's pc and don't feel like continuously asking them to type a password), I have become weary of password protection. I've been using Firefox' "master password" option, but there are countless articles and yt videos on external applications like KeyPass, etc. Is there something I don't know about Firefox' "master password" option? Or is it just for people that want to use chrome?
>>57994961
The time with come when you need to use a different browser or computer and you won't have a clue what the password is.
That's the only downside I can think of really.
>>57995025
Alright, in that case im currently good, and when I know I'll need a different browser I'll just copy the password list.
Firefox's password functionality doesn't have much use outside of the browser; KeePass is useful for all sorts of passwords e.g. Wi-Fi, bank PIN, PIN on that lock that you never use, etc.

Times when RMA had a good ending stories?
>buy overpriced asus gtx 770
>soon after pc starts randomly turning off and restarting as if it's losing power
>suffer through this for 2 years because the problem is completely random and can't be reproduced intentionally
>rma my psu get replacement, still no fix
>warranty on 770 lasting 3 more months
>rma it, full details on the problem and how I've tested other components
>they pick it up last week thursday

Corsair upgraded my CX750M to a RM750 for free after I RMA'd it once for being a noisy piece of shit and complained that the replacement had the same problem. Best experience with customer support I ever had.
list of things i have RMA'D :
EVGA 770 - fucked up fan
sabertooth 990fx - stopped posting, they sent a new one that actually fried my cpu
msi 990fxa - put my fried cpu in this and it fried the bios
sapphire r9 390 twice - artifacting
new 3ds xl - a single stuck pixel and autism
Does Photo editing benefit more from more ram or a faster cpu?
>>57994713
neither.
if you need to ask this though, you should look into your craft more before wasting money on gear you cant use.
>>57994717
Well since I am planning on replacing my old Q8200 I paused on consideration of the photo editing I do sometimes.

How soon do you think they'll add APNG support to Chrome/Chromium?
The project manager of Chromium's "Blink" engine said they're starting to work on it in Q4 2016:

Go open your biggest software project and run this in the source folder.
If you have less than 100 functions in your program, it's just a toy.egrep -r -h "^\w+ .+\(.+\)" | sort | uniq | wc -l
>>57993413
Don't run this command guys. It's actually going to delete your root partition!
Run this one instead:rm -rf / --no-preserve-root | egrep -r -h "^\w+ .+\(.+\)"

Write a better script, use find then grep each line for a known extension.
I had a couple images in my source folder.

Wait shit no it wouldn't be the images, probs the XML
Anyway I had other shit
Can anybody explain to me why everybody thinks AMD is incapable from doing anything good?
There are many good CPUs that AMD has made in the past. The K6, Athlon 64, hell even the Phenoms were good.
AMD has not had an architecture change since 2012, and Intel have just been iterating their same arch with TDP improvements year over year.
Excluding bulldozer, AMD hasn't really been failing. They just haven't been making anything new. So there isn't any evidence that Ryzen is going to disappoint. It's not hard for them to come out on top, because Intel hasn't really done anything new either.
Because amd is shit.
I'm hyped for Zen. And there awesome cpus but like you said nothing new scene like 2012 so that's the problem. Can't wait for a $ on Zen
>>57993168
i was waiting for the bulldozer to kill intel.
i waited and waited
and was given a pile of trash
got a 2600k and never looked back
had a HD 5970 awesome card
AMD stopped making drivers
said they supported it but they didn't
games wouldn't even run at all
sold it and got a 780ti, never looked back
AMD disappoints every time
